Predator 5 announced - Why can't they leave this fucking franchise just rest in peace?

I'll accept that a young pred will fuck up but the film doesn't really mention that right?
I mean we know that this is the first ever hunt on earth, but more than that the movie goes out of its way to show that the Predator doesn't know anything about our world. First, it thinks that the snake is the apex predator (which is why it skins it), then it thinks that the wolf is the apex predator, which is why it takes the head and the spine... then it thinks that the bear is the apex predator... why is why he ignores the girl just going nopenopenope and swimming away because clearly she would have gotten her shit kicked in by the bear.

In fact I think it's clear why he decides to attack the comanche people: he can see that they capture the girl, which makes them a predator in their mind (and confirms she's a prey). After he's done with them, that's why he doesn't kill her anymore than he does the rabbit.

After that, he sees the trappers have captured the two comanches, so again they instead of the comanche become the apex predator in their mind (which is accurate, as yt clearly kicked the red man's shit in).

Until he walks into the trap on the ground, he has no reason to think that traps are a factor, especially if it's the first hunt, as everything he fought so far just fought him head on and didn't use shit like that.

Seems to make perfect sense tbh.

Predators in the first 3 films (even AVP) are shown to be very cautious. They spend a lot of time simply observing their targets and don't just walk around. You can say it wouldn't see the metal trap because it sees in infrared and ok maybe, but do you know what it would see, the dozen French trappers like 10ft away. So, the Predator sees what is obviously an ambush and just leeroy jenkins it because this Predator is clearly a retard.

Also, predators don't just see in infrared, they have different vision modes some of which can see details on objects that aren't emitting an heat (see 2 and AVP). The one in the original saw right through Arnold's traps and they where made of wood same goes for the ones in Predators.

Yeah bud, we've seen the movies. We already know all this. Your trivia skills are bitch-made.

Also, the original clearly showed that the Predator had limitations in what it could see:

A little surprised that supposed fans didn't get that the Predator in the new film is obviously wet behind the ears and working it's way up to humans. Hence the skinning of the snake, fighting the wolf and then killing the bear. It's really sad.

My points of contention don't have much to do with the Predator as much as they do with Naru. We could also sperg about how lol the portrayal of the Commache is and how never in a million years would they allow a woman to be a warrior.

Okay, so I saw Prey.

Honestly, I really really wanted to like it because I liked the premise and historical setting, but why are 1700s Comanche people speaking perfect freaking English? That was just distracting to me.

I would have liked it way more if they had gone the Primal route and focus on having no language and make the storytelling purely visual. That could have been artistic and cool, but as is, it felt like a low rent direct to video film. Also, the CGI was mostly terrible...thank God the Predator was done with mostly practical effects/man in suit stuff.

That said, there were cool moments with the Predator and it wasn't a completely miserable watch. Lord knows there has been much worse to come out in recent years.

Honestly, I thought it was better than Predator 2, but not as good as the Adrien Brody Predators film. I remember really liking Predator 2 when it came out, but on a rewatch it was a slog to get through. Prey isn't great, but at no point was I looking at my proverbial watch. Predator 1 is still the GOAT.

Nothing beats Predator 1, but honestly, I am not a huge fan of any of the sequels.

Predator 2 is a fun concept and has cool moments, but can be a drag at times.

Predators put me to sleep and I tried to watch it twice.

The Predator feels like it was a joke.

And Prey was okay-ish.

And the less said about the AVP films, the better.

But overall, Predator feels like it should have probably just stayed as one movie.

I know Internet War Criminal is grabbing a can of PBR and mixing in his creatine as he settles in to watch RLM's opinion.

Ok I can explain this: It's a movie story telling device. They did the same thing for The Hunt for Red October and several other movies. It's to ease the audience from foreign language to something we can understand. There's honestly no real better way to handle it unless they just keep the actors speaking X language and slapping subtitles up. The problem with that though is a lot of audiences don't want to read while they watch a movie so for my previous example, the gradual shift from Russian to English in THRO.

There are two versions of the movie, the normal English and the Comanche dub if you're so inclined.

Briefly glancing the Twitter, I find it somewhat surprising that there isn't a lot of bitching of "the patriarchy is a product of white supremacy not comanche culture reeee" in the classic cant-satisfy-people-ever behavior.

Alternatively, "why couldn't they make it about sioux/why not finding a comanche actress?"

Maybe in a few days.

I liked it. I had extremely low expectations but it was actually pretty good. Great action scenes, too.

@RumblyTumbly

Because a subtitled sci-fi action horror film would be unwatchable.

Tito's Handmade Vodka and seltzer and my creatine shake was two hours ago, but still, hitting close to me, man

Yeah I think it really helped me, because two days before it came out, I forgot this was a thing, then the day before I was like 'lmao no I'm not watching this shit the last sequels were too bad' and it's only by the morning of the release when I saw reviews rolling in that I was like 'Maybe I'll give it a chance'

You forgot that wokies are mega consoomers

That being said if a movies woke and its good then the wokeness is just the stuff you put up with. I dont see why some people are like “well critical drinker said its not that SJW-filled and its good so i’ll watch it” as if it’s less important that it’s good. A good movie’s a good movie. Birth of a Nation is still a good movie

The Predators in every film can clearly aspects of their environment that aren't producing heat, that combined with how they observe their prey for a long time means it should have spotted the obvious an ambush even if it messed the bear trap.

@Internet War Criminal mentioned something similar about this new pred being young and inexperienced and it not knowing about Earth animals. I concede that a green pred is going to fuck up but I don't think the film did a good job of showing it. I didn't get the whole "working it's way up" thing, I just thought it was being a retard. Maybe it's got the predator version of down syndrome? That explains why it looks so different.

So it's either a sperg like in the plot of the last installment or it's the caricature of a redneck hunting on the weekends like that tweet MovieBob made about the Predators years ago.

if a real comanche chick said it no one would care, because its a valid complaint. i thought indian audrey was great but her mom was born in fucking thailand lol. as RLM slyly pointed out, her surname, Thunderthighs or whatever, is actually European NOT indian which is hilarious because most white retards (myself included) will assume Thunderwhatever is an indian name, "her tribe must worship thunder!" but nah its European lol

now the real shit storm will start when a dumb white bitch says "movie was good but a real comanche should have played the lead, #representation matters" or some other dumb shit and then all the black and brown dumb bitches will dogpile on that bitch for daring to voice an opinion on race, and she will have to take a few black lesbian dildos in the ass as punishment

Admittedly, I enjoyed it the first time I watched it...but over time my opinion has soured on the movie, I realise it was, while well shot and paced relatively well enough, it was a typical woke infested movie that clearly had more potential that it didn't reach because of the woke elements. People saying that you need to put up with it are basically black pilled and don't realise actually supporting this is why it doesn't go away (though there are signs that's slowly happening anyway).

What really soured me was just how people were acting so cult like around it, attacking anyone who didn't like it for rightfully pointing out how far fetched it was for a small tribal girl to kill a Predator the way she did. She definitely wasn't AS BAD as some other characters lately but...that's not saying much. This is a prime example of shit getting so bad, something mediocre looks like a shining gem in comparison.

I applaud you if you can enjoy it, but tbh, this movie was a 5/10 and I don't understand why trying to bully others into liking it is okay.

Same thing happened with Predators and Prometheus. You need to produce pure utter dogshit to get AvP fans to dislike the content. Stuff like Covenant and The Predator are still defended by part of the fanbase. So something like Prey will be treated like Predator 2 in that the diehard franchise fans will gatekeep anyone criticizes those movies. Because criticizing any Alien or Predator movie "harms the franchise". If it has Predators or Aliens in it they will praise it.

Prey is likely a 5/10 at best. But if you are a shill or "influencer" it needs to be an 8 or 9 out of 10. Especially if you want access to early copies and interviews with people who work on the series. And if you ever want to work with Fox or Disney on these franchises professionally, you cannot be "problematic". By saying things like "women are not as strong as men" or "autism is not the next state of humanity" or "you are all hacks that made garbage films".

The motivation of AvP forums and social media is not for honest discussion. It is a bunch of losers with a faint association with Disney latching on to anything that they can in small hopes that they get hired for the next Alien or Predator movie. You can see that for Star Wars, The Boys, Game of Thrones, and any other franchise from comics to video games to movies and shows.

I just watched it and it was okay, borderline mediocre but enjoyable enough. My partner didn't think much of it but we both agreed it shits over the 2018 The Predator.

It's been said here but I think it was obvious this was a young predator on their first hunt on a brand new planet so I'm not surprised mistakes were made and they didn't have access to all of the cool tech other predators have had.

The only thing that really bothered me was why the fuck were the French portrayed as borderline fucking orcs/cavemen/troglodytes living in a Mordor-esque hellscape lol
