Money Problems/Success with Ordering From CWCVille Etsy/Ebay

After very few questions about copyright and a warning, Chris has stated that there will be no merchandise sold at OmegaCon, and no attempt for a vendor table. I'm surprised Chris gave up that fast.

He's probably already thinking of loopholes, like selling from across the street similar to what Ouya tried to do at E3. I wouldn't bother thinking too hard because he'll just end up skirting around whatever rules you set up anyway. As long as you've done your part telling him the basic rules, you can just sit back, let it play out, and have security do their job when Chris waddles into whatever gray area he thinks he invented. Then come back and tell us about it.

I should be talking with him soon, to discuss the rules. I'm definitely gonna keep an eye on him at the con though. I don't have a solution to any of the weird schemes Chris could come up with, but I will not tolerate any rule breaking. It's mostly merch selling that I'm worried about at this point, and taking any mace away if its in his bag.

Pray forgive me for not knowing exactly how US arms laws work, but would it be legitimately possible for him to even bring pepper spray into an event like that? Then again, I guess if he brought it to a video game store, he could probably bring it anywhere.

It's not exactly an "arm," but regardless, I think private parties are free to be as much stricter as they want, on their own property. I assume a con will have a ban on functional weapons of every kind due to people dressing up, which would include :briefs:DANGEROUS GAS UNLAWFUL RELEASE.:briefs: He can try to sneak it in but like @BMO said, they will be checking bags.

I want to suggest giving the maids some kind of briefing on where to get help "in case of creeps," if not down right telling them the same info about Chris you tell your organizing team, but I'm sure you guys know how to handle that professionally already.

I still can't believe he got kicked out of the maid cafe :story: and yet it is so expectedly Chris.

US doesnt have strict regulation on Peppersray, anybody can buy a can without a permit(In Virginia),But directly from Omegacon website:
  • No real weapons or any items that could be mistaken for real weapons will be permitted out in the open or concealed at any time in the convention areas, regardless of concealed permits.
  • No explosives, chemicals, or otherwise hazardous materials of any kind will be permitted.

Since Pepperspray is,by US Law. considered a weapon and a chemical agent, they have the right to ban it.

I enjoying watching the Epic Rap Battles, but I would never buy an ERP mug or t-shirt. The same goes for Chris when it comes to profiting off his ripped-off cross between Sonic and Pokemon. If he can find a way to sell it in stores or something, then more power to him, but I'm not personally financing it.

I guess it's kind of like people who buy t-shirts of their favorite bands: if you're a die-hard enough fan, you're gonna go out and buy the merch instead of just listening to the band on Spotify.. or in Chris's case, reading his ridiculous ramblings and watching his vicarious videos.

The medallions like are seriously the most sensible thing in the entire cwc market. They make gag gifts for people who know and don't know. Its dirt cheap to make and reproducible. And it's 30$. I might end up buying one or shipping one to my friend to freak them out miserably

Wasting money on stuff you don't need that might suck is what people with jobs do. It's like going to a movie, chances are it might suck, might have wasted 10-20 dollars but shitll grow back in a week
If he were a bit more business savvy, he could have found a way to sell them as Valentine day greetings, he could have used snippets from the lesbian sleepover announcement to make greeting cards and find a way to insert the Sonichu medallion and push them as special limited V-Day edition, he could have even made Sonichu red........but, I'm sure Autism and vanity won't ever let him stray from his artistic vision.

I doubt he has mace anymore. He said in one of his rambling anti-GameStop videos back in December that he disposed of it by spraying it in a hole in the ground, which is an unlawful disposal of a harmful substance. But I don't think he has it anymore.

We have a person permabanned for creeping on the maids called the "stare master." He comes back every year, was banned for looking up girls skirts while under the stairs. The maids know exactly what to do in case of creeps, the department head of that takes good care of issues.

Mace is also 100% banned and the venue security would take it before we did. Even if they don't, there's another layer of security, and I would have our security double check his bag for mace. Some of our volunteer security guards are bigger than Chris, so we should be fine if he becomes combative for whatever reason.

I just hope the guards are male, if there was a huge lesbian security guard, I'd hate to see CWC act up just to have a mutual fisting frisking.

It's Virginia. He could bring a bazooka in with him.

When they hog-time Chris, make sure they tighten up his dominant hand before they toss him into Crackder's cockpit. Who knows what might happen if they don't tighten up his dominant hand.

I think people are really, really overestimating the potential for Chris to do something disruptive.

So first of all, there's zero reason to be concerned about Chris selling shit for the sake of the convention's liability. They have staff to deal with those situations. That an internet forum discusses Chris isn't going to be the deciding factor for the convention to get their license/permit/whichever taken away. It's not like someone's going to say "well, if he was an ordinary loser selling stuff without a dealer's badge, you'd be OK, but since he's internet famous, you didn't do your due diligence!" Acting like tattling on Chris is important for the sake of the convention is retarded. (Not meaning to get on your ass about it, @Dain Bramage. I continually do and say much worse things. I just manage to hide all my fuckups :tomgirl:.)

Also, as far as pepper spray goes, @animedad is on target. Chris was scared shitless by the trouble he got in with the pepper spray. He's not messing with that anytime soon.

As far as the potential for Chris to try to weasel around the rules, I think that concern is pretty exaggerated. Not that there's not a chance for it to happen, but people underestimate Chris' cowardice and they overestimate his desire for money. Chris loves money, but he's also a giant pussy. (This is one of the reasons why he constantly bitches about not having money, in lieu of doing something to get money, like get a job.)

I am pretty confident Chris will not solicit sales to people if he's been told that's against the rules. At worst he'll have some amiibos in his bag in case someone wants to buy from him.

Tattling on Chris preemptively just increases the chances of some incident early on, thus unnaturally ending the party early. On his own merit, Chris would simply go and the weekend would be entirely uneventful. Or, without getting kicked out or causing a big ruckus, anyway. Chris is a weird dude, and there's going to be lots of hilarious stories to be had, but not the three ring circus of wacky hijinks people seem to be preparing for.

I was at omegacon last year, and Chris was exceedingly tolerable. I'd say he was at 40th percentile by anime convention standards. (That is, he was more tolerable than 40% of weebs at anime conventions.) He mostly stuck out because he looked weird as fuck and was kind of louder in his sperging than most. Like, he made friends with a few people. I got the impression they thought he was a harmless eccentric.

He's your everyday, textbook-eccentric individual, certain circumstances simply propelled him into community stardom. His efforts, combined with the efforts of countless individuals on the internet, earned him this level of infamy, and the spotlight is always on him whenever he's dealing with it out in public as a result.

He's going to be harshly judged, photographed, and gossiped about like a US celebrity in a National Enquirer magazine.

It's not, really. People notice him occasionally, but the vast majority of Chris' outings go unnoticed. Even at nerd events. There are nerd events and gay events he goes to that no one online knows about or has documented.

I like it that way because I think fucking with Chris' IRL hangouts preempts natural, funny Chris content. Chris is a lot less funny when he's trapped indoors with Barb and the dogs all day, compared to this, which is hilarious to me.
