Project Zomboid - The farming simulator disguised as a zombie survival game

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I havent played zomboid in 2 years and Im trying to get back into it and I insist on making my survivor similar to myself irl and I am ashamed to say I would not last more than a few hours in the zombie Apocalypse cause my fat ass cant run.
I do the same thing, and it's actually way more fun than trying to make the most "optimized" build ever. I try to build "archetypes" of different people. A hobo who scavenges from dumpsters and breaks into cars to steal shit, a veteran with alcoholism and extreme PTSD, a fatass wagie, the list goes on.

I finally had a successful run playing as a character based off myself but I got bit. Im going to make a new character with the burgler profession and make him black.

Nah, it's just because he was black.

Oh, I have the Antibodies mod, so a bite makes me clench my asshole...but I'm not guaranteed to be a zombie in 3 days. It's just a heavy possibility.
That or lop of the limb with The Only Cure, even if it might suck to not be able to use two handed weapons until building a prosthesis.

Meanwhile, the furry apocalypse and warhammer armor mods would make for a hell of a save file i think.

They updated the BANDITS mod. Basically Louiseville is hell on earth. I was just minding my own business in the starting house and got bumrushed by 7 psych ward patients with meat cleavers. They chased me upstairs tripped me and hacked my to pieces.

I’ll have to tweak some settings when I try again later but :story: you hate to love this game
They spawn way too often imo. I've left it on vanilla settings and I had like 1-3 bandits attack me every day (on 1 hour days), not even counting the roamers. Thankfully it's easy to adjust spawns. But this mod is a blast. Dev is thinking about adding friendly NPCs in the future which will loot containers on their own and place it in the "chest" in your base, so it's looking good for the future of zomboid. I just hope b42 doesn't fuck this mod up when it finally releases in 2026.

They say beta should be out before the end of the year. They also said it'd be out earlier this year as a full release, and I believed it like the retard I am, so I'm skeptical.

They also elude to constant fighting leading to muscle strain and zombie spawn changes. I also have no fucking idea what 'Environmental Story Improvement' means.

Vehicle stories, house stories etc. Stuff like seeing two police cars forming a road blockade with zombie policemen lurking around, house full of zombies in party hats etc.
>new cities and basements
nice
>darker nights and light improvement
cool, the new lighting looks much more moody
>performance improvement
god I hope so. vehicles are a mess on MP, hope they address that. PZ is running on a single core, right?
>animals
zzzzzz
>blacksmithing
hit or miss, we'll see
>new gunplay
I have ATRO for that, thank you.
>anything else
meh
This still doesn't address the most glaring problems, like endgame. I'll check out beta, but then postpone any real gameplay till mods are ported to the new version.

Can you start in any of the new towns they made? Or am I gonna have to drive out there?

Also, is the online map updated to include those new areas?

Is it just me or is combat more difficult? I don't remember reading about the muscle strain in any of the dev diaries (it might've been in one, but I just don't remember), but it must really fuck up the amount of damage you do. Using the fire ax I could usually bring down a zomboid in about 3 hits, with muscle strain and a little bit of exertion it's taking like 8-10. Going to have to scrap my usual strategy of kiting groups of a dozen zomboids while whittling them down.

EDIT: I also just noticed the axe got dull during the fight as well. It's so over.
