I've actually examined a label for homeopathic sprain cream. And on the back, there's the typical health product information layout. But curiously, the "Uses" category is accompanied by the asterisk. What does the fine print say? "These "Uses" have not been evaluated by the FDA". Yes, the "Uses" is actually in quotes. Which basically means they know it won't work, but very sneakily disguise it as doing so.

That is a biological reality, plants are a form of life which on a cellular level are linked to animals, as for whether or not they can "feel pain" I'm not an expert, but the notion that plants and animals are "fundamentally different" is more of a human construct and not grounded in actual science.
Which is why militant vegans are somewhat hypocritical.
The same USA in which there are still controversies over whether or not Biblical creationism should be tought in science classes is apparently the leading world's expert on "science" now, lol.
I'm not morbidly afraid of GMO foods, but the pro-GMO spiel is primarily corporate PR just using "science" to give it credibility, and primarily benefits corporate profits, not science or society, plus considering that American corporations have previously tried to market Virginia Slims as a "weight loss" product is all the more reason not to blindly trust what some mediocre corporate-backed American scientist has to say.

Eh, I'll have to read up on the science texts I was basing this off of, but on either the cellular or DNA level, bacteria are fundamentally different than plants or animals, while plants and animals are essentially interrelated.There are many fundamental biological differences between plants and animals. The only two things fundamentally different between eukaryotes and prokaryotes is a simplified method of division in bacteria, compared to plants and animals which undergo mitosis, and the location and regulation of RNA translation, which makes protein. I wouldn't think mitosis is what makes plants dignified, and the protein synthesis is a nuance. The presence of organelles and many other functions only facilitate eukaryotes to do things a bacteria could achieve on its own due to its much smaller scale. The fundamental systems that they operate with are identical though.
Oh, and bacteria DNA is a highly undignified circle form instead of the strand form of the glorious eukaryotes, if that matters to you.

Your notion of "fundamental difference" is your own construct.
"Plant neurobiology" is a legit field of pursuit, as plants are known for transmuting environmental changes into electrical signals, conduct such electrical signals rapidly in a manner analogous to the animal nervous system (most famously in the mimosa plant and the venus fly trap, but it is more widespread than that), even capable of computer-like memory. But to claim that these features elevate plants to "sentience" and morally-considerable beings is a huge ludicrous stretch. It is like saying that your computer can also feel pain and is secretly crying inside when your browse Kiwi Farms.

Happened in an italian region (emilia romagna) some months ago:
the regional president and parliament approved a law that banned not vaccined kids (exceptions to those few who can't cause they're intolerant to some elements etc.) to enter public pre-schools for sanitary reasons. Many people went insane and called the law deplorable cause "it discriminates not vaccined kids and excludes them from the most important social context that is school". Thoughts?

Prisons discriminate against people who commit crimes, too, by incarcerating them.
There's nothing wrong with discriminating against unvaccinated kids for health reasons. They have the option to become vaccinated like everyone else, and there are exceptions if they have some reason other than pure delusion for choosing to remain unvaccinated.

On EU and GM, here in Hungary all political parties are strictly anti-GM, from left to right and banned it in unison, a totally unique political happening.
Honestly the people just go along with it because one part of them is fucking stupid, and the other part really, really hates how some companies dare prohibit them from simply buying seeds once and just using those forever, or simply have concerns about "stupid/greedy/unscrupolous americans making low grade crap and selling it to us".
The break of replenting seeds from harvest is a strong cultural taboo and causes extreme outrage. As a whole our culture does not like western economical practices.
I bought the game so it is mine forever and I can do with it as I please.
