Psychonauts 2 will feature an invincibility toggle to enable "all ages, all possible needs" to enjoy the game - Game journalist mode ahoy!

You probably won't like the original two Oddworld titles, then. Those were incredibly harsh on that, especially the first one because you don't get the quiksave (sic) feature.
I like some games in spite of their flaws. If it has cool or interesting characters, good music, at least a viable story, and the gameplay isn't unbearable then I'll still enjoy it even if it isn't completely fair.

Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze is such a game. I like DK and the music is great, but I think they knew it wasn't as balanced as the original trilogy so they slapped a shop in there to compensate. That's probably why they included Funky Kong as a playable character in the Switch port, to further mitigate the issue.

I have a question for the developers. I know that you can't just watch it on Youtube/Twitch because it won't give YOU money, but if that's the case why not try to sell a Blu-ray of a developer Let's Play? They see the game, the funny death animations, the story, the secrets, even get some behind the scenes info- yet no one would have to touch a button AND you get your money. It's like you want to make a movie but want to capture the movie going audience/average person, taking away parts of the gameplay you think they're afraid of by doing everything but adding an 'I win' button.

Or maybe I'm just overthinking what was clearly a PR move that doesn't really detract from the main game besides letting game journalists breeze through the game for a day 1 review.

There's a pretty amusing shitstorm happening on Twitter over this at the moment. DoubleFine has gone nuclear and is blocking people left and right.
Sad to see them crater a potential comeback with this.

Why did they need to make some public statement about this at all? Just release the game, virtue signaling has really backfired this time.

Reminder that Double Fine's community manager for the past year is Heather Alexandra, the tranny from Kotaku. He's most certainly handling the company Twitter account.

Congratulations on sinking the game's financial success, there's no way it isn't going to bomb now, most gamers are not forgiving for being shown open contempt.

Good job on hiring this loon, Tim! Good job on sinking this game after 16 fucking years!

Where does it stop? Okay so you want to be accessible to people shit at games so you make it so the enemies can't kill them. Now that's not good enough because combat is only one part of a game. So now people are going to complain that they can't think so good, you gotta be inclusive so are you going to have the puzzles solve themself too? Now people are going to complain they shouldn't be accountable for their bad decisions so you need to automatically pick the best dialog options for them for the best possible end.

The future they want is unironically "press X to videogame"

This really, really pisses me off that they would sink this game by not being able to keep their stupid mouths shut.

I don't care that much about your stupid fucking easy mode so long as it's optional, but making a big deal about it was not a smart move, 16 fucking years I've waited for this game and they crater it's chances by being soy infused jackasses, I should known something like this would happen.

I'm still going to play it but all they've done is ensure most gamers are going to stay far away, hope it was fucking worth it to them.

Twitter replies about this shit are fucking hilarious and really show the target audience for this garbage. The same type of retards who want games to have a "skip gameplay" button ala cutscene skipping, are now acting like smug shitheads over a baby game getting further babified.

What is the fucking point of a video game (which is already a massive waste of time) where you achieve a hollow victory while your peers actually challenge themselves? You might as well watch an anime if you want that level of "narrative depth".

This is a BAD WAY to gain publicity. What's with game companies pushing away potential sales?
Why do they think basically saying "fuck you" to their potential customers is a way to make money?

Their community manager is a Kotaku tranny? Okay, is it wrong for me to wanna see them crash and burn out of pure spite?
I can't really blame you but my love of this ip has me feeling really conflicted, at any rate fuck this tranny asshole for not doing their job, they should be fired.

Try to remember though, they didn't develop the game itself, they're just some parasite hanger on, maybe it's not really fair to the actual developers to want the game to fail due to the action of some hanger on.

You know she's right that it's stupid to be mad that a game allows you to play it without any difficulty. No one whined at ID Software that they should have patched out "IDDQF" from Doom.

But why, why would you bother to respond to someone complaining about something so stupid. How could a studio OWNED by Microsoft be so foolish? Oh wait it's because Tim Schafer is an old fool who it seems to me is incapable of confronting a hired employee for being a fucking idiot.
