Depends on which civil war from which mod.I have a question.
Why does every civil war devolve into a 23 way free for all?
Like does every janitor in the reich need to have his own state?
Vanilla Kaiserreich's American Civil War has four factions, usually three, or can just end up being two. The USA, Pacific States, American Union States, and the Combined Syndicates. It's basically Feds, Feds who claim to be the real Feds after the original Feds became a Fed-Military Junta, some weird right-wing coalition that doesn't make any sense, and commies.
Same for the German Civil War in TNO, four sides that represent the so-called (and totally not made-up for the sake of conflict) 'interests groups' in Germany. Bormann's Status Quo, Speer's Reformists, Goring's Militarists, and Heydritch's Uber Evil Nahtzees who'll 41% themselves later in the game.
Although it's not like that makes it any better. Most civil wars in your average shitty mod devolve into this.
Average factions in a HOI4 mod Civil War be like:
- Wholesome Conservative/Liberal Democracy state who are the good ending and only sane faction in the entire civil war because democracy = good, I guess. (uncommon, bonus points if the modmaker gives the condem leader a unwholesome event where he says something racist because condems = dad and FUCK YOU DAD)
- Wholesome Social Democracy state who are undoubtely the good guys and the good ending in the civil war because they're socdem and have gibmedats alongside having trans rights once they win the civil war
(common, bonus points if there's any mentioning of LGBT events or the leader being an antiracist who pistol whips a soldier for saying the n word despite it being the 1940s)
- Unwholesome token AUTHORITARIAN Communist state to show that the mod isn't a shitlib wank and in fact there are EVIL communists as opposed to the GOOD communists who have LGBT rights and hate antisemites no these ones HATE GAY PEOPLE AND JEWS, bonus points if they lean nazbol for the 5 year old leftypol meme lole so funny guys!!! (uncommon, but if they appear they'll always go to war with the below)
- Wholesome LIBERTARIAN SOCIALIST or ANARCHIST state who are the definitive good guys in the civil war because socdem just isnt progressive enough, extra bonus points if it's literally a copy+paste of Makhnovshchina, but in X country and pretty much is just a vague welfare state that somehow has free speech (BUT NO TRANSPHOBES) and rights for every citizen despite it also being socialist, just so the citizens can have more money to spend on funko pops instead of healhcare (very common)
- Bad ending, UNWHOLESOME fascist state. Uses some leader with a 1 paragraph Wikipedia page who ran this obscure fascist party in some shithole country nobody has ever heard of from like 1934 to 1937. If he wins, expect that playing him will be hard because he gets lots of bonuses and debuffs because youre playing an evil fascist state who literally kills jews and women and like 50 events telling you that you did the wrong thing. (common)
- EVIL UNWHOLESOME 200 NATSOC state. Which is basically the same as above but the leader had some sort of connection to the nazis, either collaborator, was featured in a anecdotal title of a r/TIL post where he shook hands with Hitler, whatever, he just is the eviler nazi route. Expect this to be a trap path where instead another civil war happens if you win and you get like 1488 warlords spawning over you because you did a racism (used to be rare, but now becoming ever common as every modmaker wants to make their own Burgundy, so I guess common now)
- The Status Quo state. Lmao no one plays the Status Quo in a Civil War because usually, you induce the civil war on purposely so no one is gonna play as the state that on purposely starts a civil war through the player, then wins it. Unless I guess the civil war was forced upon you, but usually most players would want to play the unique civil war factions then. (by default)
