I think the bitter part of it is that I wouldn't entirely mind some of these changes if they were actually releasing shit. Now, removing Burgundy entirely (which is to be fair just speculation) would be pretty inexcusable, but reworking it? Well, I'll miss the bond villain shit and do think it should be kept to an extent, but if they'd like to focus more on esotericism and the SS's power base within Germany, fine. I'll give it a shot.
But will they? Fuck no, Himmler's is in conceptual hell until a fucking submod does him and then craters post-demo.
I don't mind the endless reworks to all four fuhrers if it actually results in meaningful, interesting content. Going by all the toozers, they've clearly done plenty of research into aspects of Nazi politics and internal thought that without a doubt go far deeper than Panzer's era ever did. Socrev, orthodoxy, internal reformists, partification? It sounds badass! I doubt there will ever be a more in-depth alt his look at hypothetical peacetime NSDAP governance (outside the most autistically obscure and boring timeline threads) than what they're supposedly doing.
Maybe the Speer and Bormann revamps will be out by the time HOI5 has obliterated this community. Shame about the other two, though, they're never happening.
In theory, there are few game releases that excite me more than Penelope's Web. It sounds like a hoot! I've been trawling through the absurdly poorly organized teasers and QnAs and such, and it all sounds like an interesting time. If Atlantropa really had to die for this, fine, I'm super into the Greco-Turkish People's Union, the Duces and General Secretaries, the actual advent of French content. It sounds great!
Wait, I'm getting a call that the guy talking in these Turkey teasers has apparently been banned from the server, his passionate work most certainly thrice-reworked already, and there isn't even the beginnings of a release quarter for Italy. È finita. PW è caduto. Migliaia devono tooz.
And so on, and so forth. I'm sure making the Great Asian War shitty (yes, it'll only be the western insurrection version at best, it's been stated by devs) will give the next 3 months of sporadic Manchuria toozers and 2 years of silence the context they needs. No more dev streams, though!
They pulled off a decent coup with Guangdong, but given the atmosphere I've seen on the subreddit and around, it won't bode well if a couple years of outsourced UK and Ukraine are the only other things this mod does before next summer. All signs point to a complete bureaucratic nightmare, ever-shifting visions, and a handful of team leads most interested in monthly announcement post struggle sessions.
