Most of the truly weird shit we know about Chris and have seen him do is stuff that Chris put out there himself. Trolls goad him along, but at the end of the day it's Chris drawing a picture of him fingering his friend and uploading it.

Chris is indeed a weird motherfucker, but during the golden age of Chris trolling, much of the Chris content was prompted behind the scenes. It varied from "goading" to explicitly scripting lots of classic Chris content.

As for his sexual issues, it was kind of obvious from day one personally that Chris was kind of obsessed with sex in general and often went through insane lengths to try to "prove" he was straight. His family as far as I can tell isn't that much more religious than your typical Virginian, but they obviously go to church every week (or at least used to) and they ain't exactly progressive. Chris obviously doesn't grasp the intricacies of Christian theology, but I doubt the general message was lost on him. Doesn't help that he grew up in the midst of the culture war bullshit where the basic trend in conservative society was "LGBT people are literally hitler". At any rate it doesn't take a genius to realize Chris has some seriously bizarre sexual hangups.

Chris does have sexual issues. They're just not substantially related to his sexuality (that is, gay vs straight sexuality, that is).

For example, pre-trolling, Chris' concerns about being turned gay were pretty mild. They existed, but they didn't substantially affect his life. Additionally, after the substantial, organized trolling ended (when Bob died), Chris also stopped caring about being called gay. The only time when the gay paranoia surged in Chris was during the trolling.

As far as religion goes, I really don't think Chris was exposed to any anti-gay stuff in church. Admittedly, I have very little experience with churches, but I cannot imagine Chris having gone to a church where sexuality was ever touched upon in the main service. None of his churches have been remotely conservative enough.

Of course he is. The begging videos are not the only examples either. He remained adequately humble and polite during the call with Kacey's "father" despite having his lies constantly exposed. The entire call shows he is fully aware of what constitutes as socially accepted behaviors and reactions, and that he can achieve it if he so chooses, and he is aware that people may like him more if he behaved that way. I think you are giving his intellect too little credit.

He didn't really know how to behave in front of "the father", is my point. Like I said, Chris can be a major asshole, but it's not like he wakes up and thinks "I'll be a douchebag today". The dude's mental state is so scattered that he just sort of plays it off the cuff. And he truly does not understand that his actions have consequences, that much is beyond dispute.

You don't need to "like" Chris but acting like he's Lucifer in the flesh is a bit much. When Chris is an asshole, he isn't trying to be an asshole. He legitimately thinks he is acting in a totally acceptable way. Chris is mentally fucked up. People need to keep that in mind. Demonizing him relentlessly isn't going to change the fact that this person needs serious help.

I'm not the one saying Chris deserves worse treatments than other assholes. You are the one saying Chris should be given better treatment than other assholes, yet you are using reasons that also apply to the rest. Then you blow the opposing argument out of proportions in order to find something about it to mock, and yet you think I am the A-log...

It's one of those myths that never seem to die. There's a few other ones floating around.

Sorry to beat this dead horse, but I have the answers to this. (Power level). I have a close connection to the reality TV industry. I pursued this through the network (which is how I determined the email was a fraud) to the production offices of "Hoaders". At no time were they contacted by the Chandlers, they do not accept "third party" submissions (and if someone actually DID contact the producers of "Hoarders" claiming to be the Chandlers they committed not only a felony but an FCC violation as well) and at absolutely NO point did a film crew arrive at their doorstep and were turned away (which was, at the time, the denouement of the original story -- which was how I knew the story was a fake) I am the cause for the deletion of the "proof" email from the CWCki, I submitted my evidence privately, it was reviewed and handled by mods from probably two boards ago. The "proof email" was either posted by a troll, or the person posting it was trolled -- it looked pretty authentic, but I caught the slip up. You can PM for full details if you'd like, but the Chandlers Kicked Out Hoarders story is, indeed, a myth. And again, my apologies for bringing it back up.

It's been repackaged over the years to be slightly less hard hitting, but it's either been like god hates fags or god doesn't hate fags, he hates the sin. Basically its okay to be gay, but you should never act on it. Christianity loves to tell people to repress themselves. I'd be surprised if he was never exposed to non-liberal opinions on homosexuality... I know I was.

Given the nature of Sega as a company these days, it probably benefits them to keep Sonichu alive, if only so they can keep on mocking it and earning those cool points.

Nintendo probably can't see anything from their solid gold hot air balloon flying over fantasy land.

Besides, court cases are expensive and it's not like the fifty dollars that would buy a Sonichu medallion would be used to buy a Phantasy Star collection if Chris wasn't around.

When it comes to Chris's own gender/sexuality issues I don't think it's possible for him to have been unaware of that. Religion probably just nailed it home. My family was/is Catholic (in that half assed "whatever" sorta way anyway), so maybe that's a whole different scene then what Chris was in. But the general message in Christianity at any rate is "you suck, beg for forgiveness because you suck so fucking much, you are awful, you are shit, nobody loves you. Only Jesus loves you, and he really shouldn't because you're fucking disgusting. You are subhuman filth and god is shaking his head every single day at your misdeeds. Your life is an unnatural waste and you only exist to feel bad".

But again, Catholics. Protestants seem a bit more up their own asses.

That said I've met more than a few southern baptists. Those people are nuts. At least catholicism gives you the option of redemption. Baptists just demonize shit relentlessly.

Kind of a risky guess to make, based on a one-off joke.

Bob was an engineer who traveled the world. He was an ardent supporter of the UN. He was a big jazz fan and attended the Korean church for years.

I wouldn't say he's progressive, but we don't really have much reason to think he went particularly far in the other direction either.

Bob couldn't even intervene when Barb and Chris were cuddling. I can't imagine he had the talk with Chris. I think he just treated him as a big baby, because if he didn't, Barb would scream and threaten suicide.

Using 'get your black ass down to the gutter and stay there,' as a derogatory term is one example. I don't think Bob was an out and out racist or anything don't get me wrong but he did tend to show an attitude that most southern men around his age had. That's more to do with the time he lived in than Bob himself.
