Again, it all boils down to him being paranoid of trolls. If he hosts a chat, trolls will definitely come, and several will try to trick him in some way from anywhere to hurting his feelings to fucking up his life.

Since, I'm guessing, he doesn't have confidence in his own ability to discern something legitimate from troll bait. Chris is an optimist that wants to believe good things are sure to come his way (after all, how else do you explain his belief that Sonichu Entertainment of America is going to be a REAL company?)

What, if anything, makes you feel sympathy for Chris?

For me, it's the fact that has never, in his 34 years of life on this planet, ever had a real intimate relationship with someone, and judging by his lifestyle, chances are, he never will. This wouldn't make me necessarily as sympathetic, except for the fact that Chris is obsessed with finding love ( or at least he thinks he wants love when all he really wants is sex). Looking at the Julie and Ivy sagas show how desperate he is for the love and affection of a woman. But as it stands, it seems like his hopes for a love life are never going to come to fruition, and he will eventually leave this Earth, having only known physical intimacy from a prostitute.

When I first started reading about Chris, it made me laugh to think about that, especially because he is so unlikable, but the more I've learned about him, the more depressing it has become to me. I would hope that I am wrong, and Chris will find someone to love, but I wouldn't put money on it.

He had a chance to be normal, many autistic people lead successful lives such as Steve jobs, Bill gates, and many of the scientists and engineers at nasa have and had varying degrees of autism.
That chance was ruined by his shitty environment, his, his overexposer to media, his lack of real world interaction, and his stunted growth. However his refusal to listen to others, refusal to change, his refusal to learn from his mistakes, and him being a shitty person is entirely of his fault and doing. Nobody is making be a shit person, and nobody his holding him behind. His current situation is the result of him not wanting to change and adapt.

I do agree with you that a large part of Chris's problems are caused by his upbringing, and if he were raised better he would be much better off, but I don't think Chris would have exactly been normal even if he got all the proper help. Yes, he would be a better person and probably would be capable of holding down a job, but I don't think he would be capable of doing something comparable to Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, or someone who works for NASA. I think Chris has other problems in addition to autism, such as below average intelligence. I'm not saying he's mentally retarded, but his IQ is probably somewhere in the double digits. Chris also just has a weird way of thinking and seeing the world, and I agree his environment made it a lot worse, but I think there are some things about Chris that have always been beyond help from the start.

Chris does accept transwomen as women. Having sex with a woman with a penis is a specific sex act, and not wishing to participate in it doesn't change whether or not you regard transwomen as actual women.

Chris has definitely been sympathetic of trans people's problems in the past. He also spent time with transwomen or drag queens at impulse.

I don't really have an opinion honestly. The lolcow is a creature as old as the internet. Chris wasn't the first, he won't be the last. People are fucking off their rocker and always were and always will be.

Way I see it there's not a "right" way to live anyway. As long as you act somewhat decently to other people you can be as fucked up as you want in my book. We all end up rotting in a grave anyway. Chris is a nutjob, but if he got control of his anger issues and entitlement complex I wouldn't really be able to judge him for much. Even then, I'm not arrogant enough to assume I'm some sorta goddamn saint. I can be a right ol' asshole. Same goes for all the other lolcows on this site. Haven't been here that long so I'm still getting up to date on all the weirdos you guys dredge up, but from what I can tell most of them are just sad, broken, people who lack the self awareness to realize how self destructive they can be.

Older I get and the more of this slow motion trainwreck I witness, I can't help but feel a lot of sympathy for Chris. Especially in the past year or so. I'm a lot less socially maladjusted than I was in high school and (to a lesser extent) college. I can't really find much humor in Chris's self destruction and mental instability anymore. Granted, Sonichu is still darkly humorous in a way I can't quite pin down, but Chris himself? It's just sad.

Like you said, this guy was kind of fucked from the get go for a whole mess of reasons. He developed into a complete shutin with only the internet and imaginary friends to keep him company, and the isolation seriously fucked him up. Nobody was helping Chris adjust to adult life, or even high school life. People wrote him off and left him to his own devices. At best they pinned all of his issues on his autism. And while the autism made all of this far worse, leaving him to rot inside of his own head fucked him up even more.

I look at the earlier videos of Chris, and while he was weird and kind of creepy, he also could have gotten better. He could've figured out a way to come out of his shell in a healthy fashion and forge some modicum of happiness. That's gone. And the results just keep getting more and more tragic.

Foreword, at the moment I am about 5 - 10 pages behind when I write this.

A couple months ago, I was chatting to a friend of mine who is a fairly serious journalist. Chris came up, and her opinion was it was a minefield.

Any serious piece would have to portray him largely as a victim. As much as people like to say "Chris deserves it", can you honestly see a serious news outlet talking about some autistic guy being trolled and saying he deserves it?

On the other hand Chris is a fairly unsympathetic character. And hasn't had the single super-tragic troll moment where trolls drove him to serious self-harm or something. So what's the angle?

There are also ethical concerns about validating various self-delusions Chris has.

There is also an issue of cooperation from Chris and/or Barb. Getting them involved would be a nightmare.

Writing such a story would probably fill your inbox with "Julays" and similar bullshit.

Finally, it's not an important news-story. Nothing major has come of Christory, so it's only human interest. The world is full of human interest stories, so why bother with one with all of these pitfalls.

That's the big problem with Chris an the media, on the surface to the outside he does look like a poor mentaly feeble person harassed by evil internet people, but once you start digging a little deeper even without direct interaction you can see he's not a ideal fluff piece, at worst he'd be a PR nightmare going on at worst he's just like many people in your "Eh if we are desperate file", Chris apart from his noteriety online isn't all that special, I mean even by current lolcow follower standards he's relatively tame, the only reason he has the crown of the golden calf is because he was the first to be milked reliably.

The phrase "Small things amuse small minds" comes to mind but honestly Chris is quite easily entertained, give him a TV show he can waste his time on a few chores lie running to the shop for milk an hungry mans, the vidya induced coma and what ever his art an crafts habbits are at the moment you can prity much account for his whole schedule.

I'm with @Marvin on this one Chris can hold down a very menial job, it would just take a serious need an a few attempts for him to do so, he'd bitch an moan about it all the way on facebook but if it was brushing floors a few hours a week an topping up the tugboat so he's not homeless or foodless he'd do it, it would take him a few trys but he'd either adapt or keep his mouth shut long enough to earn a pay check.

I haven't personally either, but there are a minority of them (mostly on tumblr, I would imagine) who argue otherwise. Like @cwc's_boyfriendfree_girl mentioned, they call it the "cotton ceiling". That is, they're treated as women... until it comes to the contents of their (cotton) panties.

Chris' attitude is that he won't artificially limit his potential audience for people to bang. He refuses to compromise. I don't think he'd make too big a deal with any specific woman turning him down. He'd probably pretend to be friends and constantly creep on her.

Does anybody else feel like since has got his PS4 he's became incredibly boring? Right now it feels like all we have to look forward to is an extremely rare status update on Facebook and a panicked donation video when it gets to the end of the month and Chris realises he's overspent and needs money to pay his bills? I can guarantee we'll have near radio silence until this month is in it's late teens and his tugboat has been eroded. It's a shame too because considering the start Chris has to this year it seemed like things were going to be amazing.

I had a long, rambly response typed up.

But instead of posting it, what you said: yeah, pretty much. That's almost exactly what he believes.

It's probably not that explicit though. I think Chris' head is really foggy. Like when you talk to him, if you pose a really "clever" idea to him, he takes forever to churn through it. The pauses in his thinking are pretty apparent, especially if you're talking to him on the phone.

Probably just sits there in a fog of confusion, as he considers two contradictory ideas at once. Once one starts to sounds more smart/comfortable/ass-patty, he goes with it. So that's always the one that puts Chris as the victor of the argument. I don't think Chris really thinks about why every argument he's in, he comes out as the most clear headed, brilliant debater of the event. He probably just thinks he's a smart motherfucker.
