one thing that people never talk about is how much artistic value there is in chris chan as a persona. i work in an artistic field and istg in the future a chris chan museum not only makes sense to me it’s even something that i would vouch for if chris’ life ever got so mainstream.

I'm not sure I want Chris's story to go to mainstream. I like its current status as an Internet legend spoken in hushed tones in the dark corners of message boards

I suppose the line between "transgender" and "LARP" is a little blurry, so a lot will depend on your specific perspective.

On the one hand, he dyed his hair blue and screeches all the time, which is in line with most "real" trannies.
On the other hand, as far as I know he still has the bent duck.

All transgenders are larping as something they're not, it's just a degree of how delusional they are in their own mind that's the difference. This fucking nutter thinks he's some kind of God so I imagine that his delusions are quite strong.
In other words, I think his broken, autistic, down syndrome brain makes him more of a believer that he's a troon than the vast majority of troons.
And if you mean is he just doing it for the attention, ALL of them are just doing it for the attention.
That's what makes it so funny, even the ones who are just playing pretend as a fad or some kind of fashion statement are exactly the same as the true believers because no matter what they know they're full of shit.

So the question is: is he LARPing at LARPing? "Chris Chan" does try to dress as female, he has the long gross hair that he thinks is feminine, insisted on female "pronouns", tried to use what he thinks is a feminine voice (or so I read, I don't like hearing that insufferable voice), and has repeatedly claimed to be "transgender" also. LARPing at LARPing sounds too complicated for someone who has below average intelligence "made the honor roll" there. Denying he's "transgender" sounds like a "no true Scotsman" thing.

I've seen the claim that "Honor Roll" is merely LARPing as "transgender" from a "transgender", so I guess other "transgenders" do not wanna be associated with him -- they'll even go as far as to "disrespect his pronouns" and refer to him as male. And yet there's even an entire rather lengthy CWCki article on the "gender dysphoria" of the lolcow.

Chris has half-assed pretty much everything in his life. And on the rare occasion where he tried his best at something, he has proven to be wildly incompetent.

He's probably putting as much effort toward his gender transition as he has any other endeavor he's undertaken in the past 40+ years of his life, which is to say not very much. And on the off chance that he actually is trying his best, well, his best is shit.
 
I think the fondamental difference between classic and modern Chris is classic Chris was completely unaware he was a retarded manbaby. Yes, he did actively shun growing up, but the combination of poorly addressed autism, complacent behaviour from his family and few "friends", social isolation and spoiling from his parents convinced him that this was all completely normal. He lived his adolescence and early adulthood the same way a kid expects to live them (i.e., the same as being a child but in a bigger body and with a CUTE GIRL HIS AGE), and believed reality worked like saturday morning cartoons because nobody ever told him otherwise. Classic Chris was entertaining because it's funny to poke at a reprehensible fat dimwit who is really an adult body inhabited by a 7-year old who happens to know about sex but has no idea how anything else actually works.

Modern Chris has been forcibly exposed to the real world and instead of living an extended childhood like he did in 2007, he is trying to live it. He's basically in cope mode and I think it shows in how he's gradually become more delusional and yet less energetic about his interests. Like how Sonichu has become his religion and yet he got tired of making comics.

I lean towards it being genuine, in the sense that he genuinely aspires to being female; Chris has always had a very visceral loathing not just of the male body, but of maleness in general (think back to how frequently he complained about "jerk males") and he's been that way since high school. I don't think he's doing it as part of some hare-brained scheme to get china, I think he honestly considers being a man to be an inherently negative thing and wants to be female as a result.

Classic Chris was a real life cartoon character. He was a completely ridiculous person who was constantly getting involved in zany wacky adventures, and no matter how badly they turned out he would always bounce back in time for next week's episode. Modern Chris is just some weird sad guy. He posts videos on the internet, goes out to restaurants, and hangs out with Flutter. He's not driving to Ohio to save his imaginary girlfriend, he's not getting into singing competitions with brown-shirted imposters, he's not doing battle with Clyde Clash. He's not interesting anymore. It's like when a rockstar you really like grows old and gets Parkinson's and can't play anymore; The story is over, their legacy is cemented, but they're still alive milling about not doing anything of note.

Reading some old articles, one thing I found interesting was that one time he went to his first anime convention all by himself and even booked a hotel room alone. It shows that he had the potential for independence but his parents just had to put a stop to that.
