I'm not sure about that. Chris seemed to make his desire for her known. She never had any intention of letting her china be boned, but she let him continue buying crap for her. I think that makes it worse than if he was spoiling a friend that he thought would always be a friend.

I am not saying it was the crime of the century. That sort of thing happens all of the time. And I am not saying she is wrong in the whole Megan vs CWC saga. Chris did far worse and much creepier things.

It's just a little unfortunate. I am just saying that, given their differing views about dating each other, ideally Chris wouldn't have spent money on her. I think she does bear some of the responsibility for that.

I don't think it would've been possible for her to make it clear enough that she wasn't interested in dating him for him to accept that conclusion.
 
I'm starting to think Chris might actually have BPD on top of his autism.

She also let Chris know that she had no interest in him as a boyfriend, but Chris kept trying to give her things.

Megan also compensated Chris for buying her stuff. IIRC @Marvin once explained this when this question came up before.

I agree with that entirely. What I wonder is if, given that, she should have found a way to stop him from doing her favours. And I don't know how hard she tried, so I don't know how much blame she should get for it.

Nah, he said "I thought you'd be less...". Because the troll who did the Kacey thing was disgustingly obese, and she'd spent the last month telling Chris to lose weight. He was, quite rightly, surprised at her hypocrisy.

Nah you are confusing Kacey with Emily. Emily had a good body but a very ugly face. Kacey basically looked like Chris does now, except more obese.

She was paying Chris for the things he bought for her, he just kept waving off payment (probably thinking he could buy her affection). I'd guess after a certain point she realised Chris wasn't getting the message so she started making it clearer, then avoiding him altogether

Kacey was overweight. She used a lot of MySpace angles in photos and videos, with varying degrees of success.

She made it clear she's not interested in him in any way, he still tried to buy his way into her pants. Quite frankly, both behaved questionable here.
Chris' ignorance of Megan and her wishes and his focus on unlocking the fuck-quest are rather douchy, but it's not like it's a class act to simply accept such gifts even if she must have been aware what Chris is up to. Then again, she tried to get out of the focus of his obsession at one point and I doubt she received a lot from Chris she didn't pay back...

I wonder if Chris attitude towards doing shit like this stems from cartoons. He is pretty much willing to do anything for a sweetheart and he seems to think finding a girlfriend comes in 3 steps:
1) Find girl that doesn't instantly run the other way
2) Shower her with affection (ie: "You are such a caring and nice person" ad infinitum) and do what she wants... whatever she wants.
3) eventuality of sex time together

When I think of many 80s and 90s cartoons, it seems there had been a few like the infamous Zelda cartoon, where basically the male and female protagonist appear to be the perfect match, but the girl most often seems emotionally distancing herself, so it's the guys duty to 'win her over', even if she seems to lack even the most basic of interests in the male character.

Tell me about it. Some guy posted some good stories about Kacey and Liquid's life on /c ow/ at one point. Apparently Kacey is basically in charge of him, bosses him around and stuff, makes him run stupid errands like for ice cream in the middle of the night.
 
I remember seeing that... Its amazing how much more like Chris he became because of his interaction with Chris. Kacey became his Barb. I wonder if she belly dances for him?

I've been wondering about this lately. How much of Chris' resistance to psychologists or counselors do you guys think can be attributed to Borb's old-fashioned ideas? Is it just the whole "they taped my screams" incident that turned him against them or an attitude that came from his parents?

I think it's something he got from his parents, they where old and old fashioned when it came to a awful lot of subjects.
I don't even think he really knows himself what happened when they "Taped his screams" and I think it was far more innocuous than Bob an Barb believed, when Chris was getting evaluated the evaluator could have had a tape recorder or video recorder to aid in note taking an when Borb attended the review they where played back sections of the tape to ask if this was Typical behavior for Chris when it came down to his reactions to things he didn't like.

They assumed the must have done something really mean to him an thus the "Green County Conspiracy" was born, especially when they wanted to send Chris to "Special School" they where parts of Generations that associated that kind of Schooling with "Mental Institution" up until quite recently mental health and learning disabilities where a source of shame and I think that's why Bob took such great lengths to avoid the issues, not in a effort to help Chris but to avoid the Shame associated with having a Child like Chris.

I get the impression that Chris thinks that seeking professional mental health would be acknowledging he had serious mental health problems. A lot of his self image is built around his "success" in mainstreamed education, his desire for a "normal " sweetheart, etc. There is the autism, but other than that he needs to see himself as a perfectly normal man or woman. I suppose his parents could be responsible for parts of that attitude.

I wonder if part of Chris knows or suspects that he has some other shit going on and that he is afraid of a psychiatrist looking under the hood because he is a suspects there might be problems there. But that is probably giving Chris too much credit for depth.

Chris doesn't want to go because of his ego, so he thinks there's nothing wrong with himelf. He thinks acknowledging that he needs psychiatric help will make him a slow-in-da-mind and he likes to think that he's better than other people with mental disorders. He takes pride in his "high functioning" autism and doesn't want to be in the same category as the "drooling, zombie windows-to-hell."
