So we've all argued back and forth about whether Christian should get a job or not. I'd like to think it's about time to rip that wound back open.... just kidding. Let's just assume Christian was willing to get a job, needed to, or Barb made him.

What kind of job would Christian go for? This isn't a "what if" so no stupid jobs he couldn't possibly get. If he had to get a job, what job do you think he'd end up getting?

Supermarket trolley collector would be an obvious one, although the physical demands would probably put him off. Maybe one of those people who just sit in one spot holding up an advert, if they have that kind of job in Ruckersville. The only places I really see those guys are bigger cities, and I'm pretty sure they're being paid below minimum wage.

If you expand "job" to include "exploitative online piecework" he could probably stick it as a survey-filler or a CAPTCHA typist. Maybe even a MMORPG gold farmer.

Barb was feuding with the neighbors so she calls animal control on their cat. Barb never sees the cat again so she assumes the cat was put down. Now Charb are convinced that the neighbors are going to elaborate lenghts to fuck with them, like training a snake to crawl into their house and steal Chris's old homework.

Considering that it's roughly half way through 2015 and Chris' blood has yet to prove effective in curing homosexuality (or at least, Lesbianism of the soul), and I'm going to a blood drive in a day or two, I got to pondering the nature of CWC's red stuff.

How much do we know about Chris' blood? His blood type, does anybody know that?

Could Chris donate? Would he donate? Blood giving is a relatively effort-free way to feel like you're helping people, as long as you aren't too squeamish, and even if he isn't actively eradicating homos by it, I think it would appeal to Chris' ego to imagine himself saving lives with his generously sacrificed blood. Plus there's free snacks. Considering his health however, he might not be able to withstand the loss. Could Chris become greedy/desperate enough to begin selling his blood or plasma as a supplement? Is his blood too fucked from decades of bad diet, medications, lack of exercise, and exposure to the filth of pre-fire 14 BC to be approved for use in another human being?

At the very least, there's no question of him being deferred because of sexual contact with another male (even once).

Now even if Chris' blood does not in fact possess homosex curing properties, and assuming it will not instantly kill you; would you accept a pint of his crimson comeuppance into your veins if ever the need arose?

The language on the forms is vague. To my memory, it goes something like "Have you ever paid for/been paid for sex?" the sexual contact with the same sex is more explicit with the Even Once specification.

Tattoos and piercings exempt you for roughly a year, but considering the horror of the Unclit, I'm not sure if I'd ever lift that deferral.

Don't get me wrong, Christian is no savant. And I'm not gonna embellish his intelligence or deny he's a dumb ass. However, he's also a totally enabled under-achiever, which makes him appear dumber than he actually is. He was able to be mainstreamed with minimal intervention. He just chooses to be a useless piece of shit despite being capable of more.

That is a tough question to answer. It is hard to say what Chris is capable of if he put his mind to it, because he has never really put his mind to anything productive. Also, Chris being willing to get a job is a fairly fundamental change. A work-ethic goes a long way, and you are kind of asking what Chris could accomplish if he grew a work ethic all of a sudden.

But here is my answer.

He struggles a lot with social cues, so he might find jobs which are primarily interacting with customers difficult. But he is not incapable of basic interactions.

He isn't physically strong, but he isn't physically disabled. So he can't really use his strength as an asset to get a job like landscaping or something, but he can do basic manual labour.

He probably can't hold a managerial position, or something that was intellectually demanding.

That leaves a bunch of things. He could do janitorial/cleaning work. He could stock shelves. He could be a low-end office drone, something like the mail room. He could probably deliver food. A decent proportion of assembly-line type jobs are well within his capabilities.

I believe there are organizations that structure jobs specifically for people in Chris' range of abililities. Things like stuffing envelopes.
