Random Tumblr posts

Even then, it's weird. It isn't even moral ambiguity and one could make numerous arguments for all sides. It's situations where something is clearly evil (such as kicking a dog to death for no reason whatsoever), but because the author doesn't immediately deus ex machina shit so the ne'er do well gets struck dead, then the author supports it.

It's this idea that portraying something = supporting it, unless it is immediately resolved. Of course, they ignore how this is bad for storytelling, because you can't just solve the plot like that because that's fucking boring and means there's no point to the story. But they never do care about the craft of storytelling. They see fiction solely as a means to bring their propaganda to people. Stories can have messages, true, but when everything else gets tossed out the window for the sake of the message, you'd be better off making a PSA than fiction.

And, to answer your question, YaoiHuntressEarth, and since it is Tumblr:
Rape. Stare Rape. Rape rape.

So basically they want all media to approach storytelling like Sonichu.

The OP is unsurprisingly a 13-year-old radfem, although there are a lot of people calling her out on her BS in the notes.

It's kinda interesting to note how fandoms have gone overall on tumblr
Back in 2012-2013, while many sperged over kid's stuff, there were fandoms for more adult stuff like Hannibal, Sherlock, Game of Thrones, the Avengers...But nowadays it seems the only fandoms that seem to go on is Steven Universe and Undertale with random anime on the side.

Like adult media has become too "problematic" for these kids.

For some of those fandoms, it is just a matter of them moving on:

-Hannibal actually ended and so the only ones left around are the diehard Hannibal/Will Graham shippers
-Since Sherlock takes two years to produce three fucking episodes most of them lost patience (on top of the "Moffat's a shitty writer/it's now cool to hate Benedict Cumberbatch" crowd), it briefly perked up when it released a special a year ago but otherwise it's dead
-Frankly I don't blame them for dropping Game of Thrones because it's just become a shitfest of blood and fucking even for the non-hypersensitive types (sadly there aren't many of the book fans on the site)
-Supernatural and Doctor Who also used to be popular but they fell into the "the writing is absolute shit" pile so that the only people still sticking around those are either more diehard shippers or bitter, jaded fans who are hate-watching at this point to watch their preferred dead horse finally cross the finish line

MCU fandom is still very active, but it's full of fucking crazy people and infighting ever since Age of Ultron basically took the logical, decent canon and smashed it with Thor's hammer.

Frankly, fandoms used to be a lot more varied a few years ago just because Tumblr's community was a lot more varied. They, like the site, were intended to be a place where people could connect and socialize over similar interests. Worst you had in the way of any sperging was the "hipster bloggers vs. fandom bloggers" and some of the fandoms just being embarrassing (Homestuck and Superwholock immediately come to mind). Then your social "activist" and vocal genderspecial snowflakes started injecting themselves where they weren't wanted (I admit I don't know where they came from originally); drove a lot of the saner people off the site, the site itself became a lot less user-friendly after the Yahoo buyout, and now you've got it being the disgusting cesspool of overgrown whining children it's known for now.

Adult-er fandoms still exist, it's just that they're a) smaller which means they're way more susceptible to takeover by one single shitty person and their cronies and b) often sanitised by people who can't deal with the adultness. The Dragon Age fandom's a good example of this, where every single in game conflict is summed up as "This side is a bunch of preshus gay babbies who literally can't do wrong, this side is literally hitler"

It's a shame, really. I was pretty big into fanfiction circles way back in the days of LiveJournal and TF2Chan. While I won't go nostalgia blind and say things were the best ever, it was definitely better than now. back then you could actually write fics that weren't domestic AUs and not get harassed

Coffeeshop AUs are like the Matchbox 20 songs of fanfic.

The way that Tumblr has latched onto this game like a parasite; it's only a matter of time before the Overwatch fandom gets a thread here. Because holy hell imagine being this autistic about shipping.

I can't wait for the "ALL OVERWATCH WOMEN ARE LESBIANS" crowd to get a hold of this and flip out.

It's going to be hilarious when the "ALL OVERWATCH FEMALE CHARACERS ARE LESHBIANSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" crowd finds this post and flips their shit.

For a group of people who spend so much time pontificating about how evil and exclusionary gatekeeping is, tumblrinas sure seem keen to make sure any group they're a part of is reserved for only the specialest and most sensitive of snowflakes. They like it so much, in fact, that if they can't find any groups that are suitably exclusive they'll bloody well make one, and make bloody sure they keep everyone who isn't sufficiently sparkly out.
