In the first place, I understood the value of the statute but honestly thought Trump was trying to have the statute be actually enforced and was putting big tech on notice by threatening to make them and everyone else eat a lawsuit buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner-- I mean, that was the implication of his EO around the time he started the "REPEAL SECTION 230" ravings months ago.

I have no idea why he never bothered to actually litigate Twitter for censoring the communications of a federal official (or even get a surrogate to do it), and I have no idea why he's chosen to incinerate any goodwill he's had with even the military rank-and-file (since we know he's not exactly loved by the top brass) by holding up a defense spending budget in order to effectively sterilize the internet for an industry he has mutual bad blood with. I do get that he's probably trying to repeal 230 because he's a dumb boomer regarding the internet and anybody more knowledgeable that's whispering into his ear is probably just telling him that it's bad for his kind. But what he's doing now is profoundly idiotic and destructive, especially when he should have actually done anything he wanted done months ago.

Reminder that Joe Biden wants the statute repealed because he wants to kill hate speech on the internet.

Anyway, I don't think anybody in that thread wants this.
Exactly. I'm so damn frustrated with Trump right now. Bad, BAD move, dammit.

I know the lamestream media (a wholly-owned organ of the Democrat party, prove me wrong faggots) has given him nothing but bullshit and grief for four plus years. I sympathize with that. But this isn't the way to go out, Don. No one will thank you for trying to restrict free speech.

He's not wrong about China's bullshit either. They've tried to blame the U.S., India, Italy, Australia... anyone they can foist the blame on so they don't lose face.

Tulsi is my waifu but I know she's gonna lose any political power a few months from now and her reform would be dead in the water.
She was literally the only remotely worthwhile candidate from the Democratic pool this time around and instead we have this fucking half sentient goddamn potato.

He could go out pardoning Assange and Snowden in a big "fuck you!" to the establishment but he prefers to be cucked on his last act as president. Smurt boy.
Assange is probably fucked, so pardoning him would only tell the glowies to off him, mysteriously of course.

Snowden will probably remain in Russia until Putin croaks. Snowden kinda earned a lifetime pension from Russian feebs at this point.

For fucks sake this idiot had 4 ducking years to do something about twitter and big tech monopolies on platforming opinions.

All he did was bitch and moan about it, now it really, really feels like he wants to break everyone's toys because he is about to get booted from the sandbox.

Pardoning Assange after years of continuing the inhumane persecution against him and strong-arming his own country into turning against him? It would be less of a 'big' one and more of a petty dispute, at that point, considering he's continuing what 'the establishment' has been doing under the guise of being anti-establishment.

Wikileaks was always going to be a useful idiot, unfortunately.
