I'll take the Resident Evil 8 "leaks" with a grain of salt.

After reading Marhawa Desire, what I hope for, for the next Resident Evil game is just a normal outbreak that is on a massive scale. No need for devious world domination plot or kooky insane virus just to create a clone of a girl you like to fuck. Just a normal, zombie outbreak because somebody got too careless. And can at least ONE FUCKING BIOLOGICAL COMPANY BE AT LEAST ACTUALLY A GOOD COMPANY AND NOT ACTUALLY SCHEMING WORLD DOMINATION??

also, if Claire is going to be in, make it hot Claire, Claire in RERev2 was old hag territory

>normal outbreak on massive scale
Chasing the RE2 scenario is how you get RE6. Raccoon City happened, no need for it to happen again.

A smaller outbreak in an isolated location is what made RE1 and RE4 so good. It gave the plot focus.

But RE2 gave us Outbreak though.

Also, the best parts of RE6 was the Leon's university, city streets - gunstore holdout sections

Yeah the first parts of every "campaign" was pretty good for what 'genre' it was, shit just kept getting way out of hand.

Like for Leon, ANGRY FUCKOFF FLY that took forever to kill.
For Chris, uhhh... it was too generic to remember, but there was one somewhere.
For the "new protags" Ustanak stealth scene.

I am going to say it.... Resident Evil 6 wasn't really that bad of a game.

Really great concepts, but just so-so execution. The gameplay mechanics is basically focused to be balanced on Mercenaries mode, but the campaign mode offers nothing where these gameplay mechanics shine. then when you get to the Mercenaries, its actually better to wait for melee counters than using all these great moves. And then, even the enemy AI is balanced for Mercenaries, which makes them too dumb. Just look even at this official trailer for Mercenaries No Mercy mode:
The intensity of No Mercy mode is weak compared to No Mercy mode in Resident Evil 5, and that has less enemies on screen than 6.
As for the excessive QTE, it was patched around 1 month in, and then just a switching a setting in subsequent releases.
As for the plot: Who the fuck gets invested in the plot of RE games? It was a b-movie plot since 1 and it was just a matter of varying levels of self-awareness in the other games.

so, to summarize: RE6 great gameplay mechanics, shit setpieces. I would actually say that the Leon's starting chapter has more intense zombie outbreak than REmake3

That's fine, it works for me but the most important thing is fixed camera angles.

All those big survival horror franchises like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame and even noteworthy standalone ones like Haunting Ground and Rule of Rose all had their differences but what they all had in common was cinematic camera angles, that was the main thing that gave the games the feel they had.

REmake 2 proves that you can replicate almost everything but the camera angles and it still feels very different.

Now REmake's 2's method isn't worthless, there's something specially creepy about seeing a zombie down the end of long dark hallway for example, but I think overall fixed camera angles is the superior way to get tension and fear.

I don't mean to look a gift horse in the mouth though because I'll take REmake 2 and RE7 over RE6 any day despite the third person and first person camera, I'm just saying it would also be nice to return to a more classic style on occasion.

It just bums me out that the style of survival horror exactly as it was during the PS2 days is basically extinct, outside of a few indie games the last release by a major publisher in that style was Rule of Rose in 2006.

There's definitely untapped potential left in the cinematic camera angles and with modern technology some crazy stuff can be done by someone with a creative mind for gameplay and presentation.

It was, there was potential in the idea of taking 4 and 5's action packed style and putting it in a setting resembling Raccoon City, in fact I remember thinking of that idea myself long before 6 came out.

It had potential... if that was what they focused on, instead there was all the bullshit in China and Eastern Europe, it really did feel like multiple games rolled into one and consequently everything felt half baked.

But whatever, I'm so happy they moved away from the action movie bullshit and focused on horror again with 7.

The PS5 event is back on for this upcoming Thursday. Say a prayer that RE8 is confirmed this month. I also want to hear about my long overdue return to the foggy town that is Silent Hill. 🙏

I can sum up all 3(4) campaigns for ya.

Leon: SIMMONS!
Chris: SHE KILLED MY TEAM!
Jake: *angry bootleg nemsis Noises*
Ada: *Player 2 agent Humping door because player 1 ada wont open them for him noises *

Does anyone even remember Agent? Faceless merc in gas mask get up, doesn't show up in any of the cutscenes for adas campaign. Can't do most things other then shoot enemies. CAN'T OPEN DOORS OR BOXES.

Agent is the best playerable person of RE6 if you ask me, He doesn't speak so you never grow tried of "not" hearing him, he is too nice so he never leaves you behind.
You never see his face so you can easily pretend he is any of the RE cast, and if you don't need him he understands and wont show up ever if you are playing by yourself. Agent is the best.

I forgot to mention I gave REmake 3 a play.

It's good but also a bit of a mixed bag, it's not as pure an experience as the RE2 remake was ie you don't need ink ribbons to save, there's in game checkpoints and it's a lot more linear (but I believe the original was more linear as well)

It starts off really strong though, there's a lot of stuff in the downtown area like fake movie posters, ads, brands and stores that seem straight out of Dead Rising, especially the toy store, it's kind of weird to think of blending the two Capcom zombie franchises and you'd think there'd be a tonal clash, but it actually works really well.

The main thing that disappointed me about the game though was the hospital, rather than being pretty faithful to the original version like the police station in the 2 remake it's entirely different and an inferior take on it, the hospital was originally an old hospital in keeping with Resident Evil's gothic style, this new one is just a totally generic modern hospital that feels like it could be from any zombie game.

Overall I had a good time with it though.
I can't remember where I heard it, but REmake 3 was like playing only the highlights of the game and cutting out all the "filler".

It was sadly disappointing to me. RE3 was my favorite in the series and the fact that instead of a semi-open world, zombie horror/action game it could of been, we got a linear (more so than the original) game that didn't even capture the feeling of dread and panic the original had.

Feels bad man.

I'll always think that Jill should of been Ada's partner. Would of been interesting having her try to help Chris while Ada helps Leon.

I will shit a solid gold brick if a new Resident Evil and Silent Hill are revealed at the same time.
Plot twist: It'll be an all new series, Resident Hills: Silent Evil. It'll be made by Konami and the same people who made Umbrella Corps. The plot will center around a squad of paranormal S.W.A.T. team members sent in to investigate a cult that turns people into goo men using the Pyramid-Virus in an attempt to create the ultimate bio-paranormal weapon, which is a little girl that just wants a friend. Half way through you'll find out that one of your team members, Jillyssa Masonfield, is the clone of the cult leader's long dead niece's cousin who actually isn't dead but the leader of your squad and is planning on using the P-Virus to turn herself into the ultimate fungal lifeform.

Combat will be pachinko based.

I love Agent just for the fact you can write him off as being Ada's imaginary friend. I'm surprised they didn't use the faceless mercenary we already knew for him instead.

There's prune juice for that!

Anyway... I hope Chris Redfield is redesigned, as his current look is just, I don't even know. I really don't care much for it, though, and Leon also looks incredibly lame now. :augleft:

If they used hunk, then they coudn't write it off as Ada has a Head Mate.

“Leon I have had it up to here with you I have infiltrated your #PS5Reveal stream to tell you that you need to fuck Claire and continue the Redfield bloodline. I will not take no for an answer.”

Resident Evil 8- Ethan is next in line to put a baby in Claire. You have to escape Chris's pleas for you to fuck his sister. Bravo, Capcom! You've made the Fuck My Sister timeline a reality.

I'm honestly interested in seeing what happens with Ethan. We know he got infected by the whatever in RE7 thanks to the hallucinations and his boosted healing factor (no way should his hand be functional after being sliced off, let alone nearly healed back up after what, 12 hours?) yet managed to avoid the mind-fucking Lucas got that turned him into a psychopath judging by the DLC.
