I remember the first time I had a Crimson head I didn't know about in the U shaped hallway where the armor room is. It didn't aggro until I came around the one corner and it roared and swiped at me and I literally hollered at the screen.
If I'm not mistaken it's RNG too whenever Crimson Heads rise only when you pass past them, or are active the moment you step into the room.

There was a specific zombie I always killed on the west balcony, on the far side, and every time he turned CH he would play dead and I never triggered it. Then one time he was already up and active and it tore me apart :(.

I have probably played through Remake around 20 times since the original GC release and I remember playing through it when the Steam release came out and that fucking crimson head still made me almost jump out of my chair. I couldn't believe it still got me even after all this time.

I don't believe it was ever RNG based. The difficulty, and time factors into it. Typically when I played it, by the time I'm coming back from the guardhouse. Anything I downed and didn't burn would be a CH. But that's on normal.

I really should do no kerosene runs on hard mode.

When I played recently, I went back to tank controls and it really is in the intended way to play. That alt scheme is completely broken in your favor.

Who's up for a Jill sandwich?

TIL that Ada Wong was supposed to be in Village and apparently have a role similar to Chris', including shooting Mia/Miranda at the beginning and helping him against Heisenberg.
TBH it would have been more interesting than the boulder-punching asshole.

I wish they didn’t cut her from the game. They broke the trend of Ada being in every even numbered resident evil game.

Part of me thinks that wouldve been awesome, but the other part thinks it's too much of a coincidence and it'd just come across as bad fanservice

Dusted off the PS2 and got some Outbreak on, besides the intro stages, it was much harder than i remember. Still hooked enough to play through, but i couldnt help thinking how much these would get butchered in a remake.

You got dozens of rewards and unlockables, including alternate costumes and characters, all of them unlockable in game. An actual diverse cast of characters, each of them has a their own stage where using them gets you some perks, and not bringing them with you means you'll see their zombified form at some point... Man, this one brings back memories.

Also, this opening is beautiful. Visuals are interesting, but the music elevates it to a whole other level:

That, and apparently she was supposed to have history with Mia back in the Connections.
Seems really like a wasted occasion.

It's the writers who keep forgetting the continuity with its story

I finished my RE4make playthrough as a Standard scrub along with Separate Ways. It was an okay game; it helped that I only remembered bits and pieces from the original so that some parts seemed familiar but still new. It's amazing to find enemies without weapons being more of a menace than those that do. Can't parry grabs, the fuckers.

I didn't get fucked over from the clock tower in the beginning because I forgot it existed.

In terms of voice acting I can't really fault the voice actors including Gao. The direction this game took was far more serious than the original, but the devs tried to preserve some of the memery with Ashley's line and the achievement for killing Salazar. The voice actor for Leon, Nick Apostolides, did a short video with IGN in recreating some of the lines once uttered by Paul Mercier. Gao ran into the misfortune of voicing a very-established character in the series that was taken in a different direction. I feel like she was directed to being a stricter no-nonsense secret agent since the whole "will they or won't they" schtick with Leon was done away with this time around.

One may not like her performance (I did not) but I read some of the things that happened to her and I thought that was taking it too far.

As an aside, I agree that the voice acting reflects the more realistic approach - people forget that back in RE2 remake Ada was already recharacterized as more serious and assertive, and less seductive and femme-fatalish.

Capcom's voice acting during the 90s was just camp. Mega Man 8's cutscenes being a perfect example
The fuck is this? An Elmer Fudd/Peter Griffin mashup?

Yes because everyone loved the OG RE4 for it's realism being GROUNDED.

I just want bullets to go where I point the fucking gun.

If vr didn’t make me sick after 30 minutes I’d play in vr, because at least in that the bullets actually go where you point the gun.

If that's the case then it's already far better than the actual game.

I was wondering why I prefer RER1 to all the other over-the-shoulder entries (except RE4 Wii), and I can't put my finger on it. I played through it with no problem, but I suck at RE5, RE2R, and even Revelations 2 (this one's mainly because of poor game design, I can fight zombies decently well in the Mercenaries mode, probably because you have more ammo and the scenarios are simple).

I remember just getting gang raped in RE5 right in the beginning by a horde of zombies and a chainsaw dude I think. Same for RER2. Maybe RER1 was just easier, and it's got nothing to do with controls or anything?

Eh, it doesn't compare to the atrocity to the Chaos Wars dub, which was rumoured to be voiced by some producer's relatives.

Wow, that's amazingly bad. You'd have to try to be that bad, I think, even for a nobody's first take... Especially that Uru character, he sounds like a huge retarded faggot.

Some thing that rubbed me off is that the character redesign for the remakes sometimes subverts their canon ages.
Claire and Leon look their ages in RE2R, but Jill Valentine and Carlos, which are supposed to be 23 and 21, look much and sound much older, at least in their late 20's.

Meh, I always saw Jill and Chris as older than Leon and Claire. Who cares about their canon ages other than some kotaku writer seething about Jill(or was it claire?) still looking young in some trash CG movie?
