One thing they really need to nail in RE9 is boss fights. It was kind of shocking how shit and lacking the boss fights in RE8 were.

For starters there were only three proper boss fights in the entire game. Lady Dimitrescu, Mother Miranda, and Moreou.

Donna Buenivito and Heisenberg are gimmick bosses where you just hold down one button and win so I don't count them.

There are a few fights against the big lycans and Soldats but they go down in 2-3 magnum shots so I don't count them either.

Then as the cherry on the shit sundae two out of three of the actual boss fights suck absolute ass, what were they thinking?

i still cant remember anything about 8 besides big tittied vampire lady, her daughters, the frog monster and some metal city? game was souless trash
The storybook bullshit was gay and cringe. Lycans are somehow worse than the molded.

People whined that RE7 wasn't RE, but RE8 is really alien to the series. At least RE7 goes through the same scenario beats of say RE1, but 50% of that game is a fucking slog.

Around 70% of RE7 has no combat whatsoever, it's practically a walking sim.

I think it's a better game than RE8 due to being much less retarded but it's still in the bottom/mid tier rankings.

End of Zoe DLC was kino though.

EOZ was good. Not a Hero was dogshit. Marge and Jack both had like a theme for their mutations while Lucas is just hodgepodge mold monster.

I think there's a very high chance that the mold saga games along with 6 will be quietly and unofficially declared non canon with the new games continuing from the RE2make/RE4make timeline/continuity.

Kind of like how Zero was quietly dropped from the continuity with the events and characters of that game never being referenced ever again in subsequent games.

Forget new games, why aren't there any good modding tools still? RE4 is usually seen as one of the better games for example, why can't you add brand new weapons or levels after over 20 years? The closest you get to a brand new experience(not counting something like new textures/models, which doesn't count) is a randomizer, which is a free bingo space since every game has a decent randormizer by this point, including the original RE trilogy.

The community needs to get off their ass and finally figure out how the engine works, maybe develop an editor. It's clear Capcom won't give you anything better than a half-assed demake at this point.

Even if it would be a COD ripoff I would still play it over this Amnesia slop.
I mean, do I have to spell it out? L4D but in RE universe. It would print fucking money, which is why Capcom would never do it. Even Metal Gear KIND OF tried to do that with Metal Gear Survive, but you're telling me Resident Evil devs never even thought of it?
They already dabbled with the idea in Outbreak, time to come full circle and make an action based online co-op spinoff.
Didn't they kind of do that with Operation Racoon City?

We don't have MT Framework and it's a private engine chock full of middleware which prevents capcom from releasing the source code (not like they'd ever release it if they could though). Maybe if gamecube games ever receive decompilations or a God tier leak occurs again we'll have the source code to fiddle with. Not the matter of if but when. PS1 games are already getting decompiled and Gamecube has its autists behind it so I expect it by 2030 maybe.

Best RE4 mod (and imo the best artistic mod) ever is the HD Project in terms of how much it adds even if it's all visual.

Oh yeah. And it was a Great concept but... Well it just didn't play well. Enemies were spongy and multiplayer didnt have enough gas to make it work. I did really like the character designs and voices of the umbrella operatives though. It had fun ideas like dying players turning into zombies and having full dismemberment.

I think it was a great idea for a spin-off franchise that was poorly implemented and put out on a shitty engine. If it was on par with something like COD it would have worked. Capcom keeps half assing the concept with cheap games like umbrella corps and expecting people to give a shit for pennies.

I loved ORC as a concept, but holy shit was it MISERABLE to play.

@30+GameOvers this looks like a cool RE4 mod. May be in the works for years.

Shit like this just reminds me that RE and SH in the PS2 era had such unique and yet creatively distinct looks that had never been matched since. Its absolutely shocking how good they hold up.

The true might of creative vision and limitations breeding inovation. The PS2 era really was the finest middle ground of graphics and creativity.

looking at the switch eshop and got reminded about the cloud versions of re2/7/8.
it made me miss the time again where, if they wanted to port something on weaker hardware, they would make a special version of it.
i LOVED those things, you got weird shit mike game.com re2, zeebo re4, dead rising on wii that is just re4 but in a mall and the impressive re2 on n64.
downporting is a lost art.

Most of the mods are very basic model or texture swaps, even without a source code there should be more features added to the game after 20 years. Here is an example from another Capcom franchise, Dead Rising: I browsed the Nexus the other day for shits and giggles since I know the modding scene for these games is dead, and lo and behold someone made an Infinity Mode mod for Dead Rising 2. New encounters, new scripts, pretty much a brand new game and all without any modding tools or the source code.

Maybe my expectations are too high since generally, you see some amazing stuff out of RPG and RTS communities, which is what I am used to seeing. Maybe the mistake is expecting anything out of Capcom fans that aren't low effort coom or meme mods in general, since that's what you usually see from RE4 Remake modders.

COD Zombies became a huge hit because it was tacked on for free with the games, you got the single player and the multiplayer and then there was zombies if you still didn't have enough. By itself ORC maybe isn't something that would capture people's attention, but imagine if it was bundled with RE6 or any other Resident Evil as a cherry on top it would, especially if they kept at it and re-iterated it on every release. Guarantee you that it would blow up, kind of like Mercenaries Mode(which received one stand alone title on the 3DS and didn't rock anyone's world) that's just expected to be there with every mainline and some side releases.

That's cool, but is this an actual WIP mod or just a tech presentation? By this point I would expect a full blown SH game remake in the engine, it's been over 20 years. We don't even know what the engine is capable of since there is so little research done, or at least that I was able to look up. What would be more impressive is if a new engine was developed that allowed for actual intensive modding and the community went from there, that's what happened with Morrowind and Open MW for example. There is videos of Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas and even Fallout 4 assets, maps ect. being ported over like they're nothing, I know these are all similar games but we're talking about a title from 2002 here that is meant to run on the original Xbox. All that video is doing is making me wish someone already re-mastered an older RE game into this engine with all the RE4 gameplay elements, more than possible even if the PS1 assets would be looking a bit rough if ported over. The RPD uniform for Leon is already there, you could make a much better remake than the 2019 one.

You may as well get into modding yourself since most game modding scenes are dry when fans don't have developer tools. (it took 10+ years just for dark souls to get lighting mods and even those are locked to discords and nexus).

Nexus mods are a lifesaver playing the remakes. I went through it with Claire in the darkside chronicles outfit since I fucking hate the default look.
