RE7 is scary as fuck. It's the first time since RE1 that the series has felt like an actual "horror" game. It's also quite a bit different from the rest of the series in terms of storyline and gameplay; almost feels like an entirely different franchise (until it doesn't). I thought it was great, but my galpal (who is a massive REvil nerd, more so than me even) was unable to play past the first thirty minutes. She says it's because the fights were annoying, but I'm pretty sure it's actually because she was way too scared. So by all means give it a shot, but remember it's different; can't really say if you'd like it or hate it, based on your interest prior Resident Evils, but if you enjoyed RE1 then you'll likely find something to enjoy in 7.I played parts of RE1 and RE4. One thing I noticed I haven't seen people talk too much about is how so many of the games monster sync up with the Universal Monsters.
You have vampires, wolfmen, an aquatic monster and a Frankenstein esque dude, very much like Dracula, The Wolfman, Frankenstein and the Creature From The Black Lagoon.
All that's missing is a mummy and the song Monster Mash.
You could say Ethan did the monster mash, he did the monster mash!
This is a good point. I wasn't really thinking about it at the time, but yeah, it's basically The Mummy versus Wolmen, Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon, a Puppetmaster Frankenstein, and Tetsuo the Iron Man who has decided to build an army of Megadeth mascots for some reason.Just wrap ethan up in toilet paper, he basically a mold mummy when you get down to it.
RE2 Remake is not the best game in the series, however it's the best game of the post-classic era because it stays shockingly close to the classic formula, it just has third person camera and aiming controls, other than that it's basically exactly like the old games, it's the best of both worlds.RE7 is scary as fuck. REmake2 is a better version of REmake3. If you didn't like REmake3 because you didn't like the engine or something, then don't bother with REmake2. However, if it was more the plot and level design that made you indifferent to REmake3, 2 is worth checking out. Many people I've talked to think REmake2 has been the best game in the series in over a decade, possibly even the best game in the series period, but - mechanically similar to REmake3. Whether you'll enjoy 2 might depend on why you weren't able to get into 3.
Village (8 ) is closest to 4. It's RE4 with fancy new graphics and an FPS camera. It's not scary at all and I found it to be a good deal easier than RE7 (which 8 is "technically" the continuation of), but it's a fun werewolf shooting game, so if you were more into 4-5-6 than you were into 1-2-3, RE8 may be your thing.
RE has always been a hodgepodge of various influences, but RE8 is pretty shameless in a way the prior games kind of weren't, however that's what makes it fun. This is a good point. I would like a Remake of the Resident Evil survivor game but with more emphasis on how Raccoon City went down the shit. Like the first Zombie apperance the cops trying to subdue them and then how the horde slowly grows bigger and you try to frantically flee.I'd love an all new game in RE2 Remake style, that'd be amazing..
I wouldn't say REmake2 is the best game in the series; it's got the new guy Leon in it, instead of Rebecca, so it can't be the best game. I'm just saying that most people love it, and some fans think it's the best.RE2 Remake is not the best game in the series, however it's the best game of the post-classic era because it stays shockingly close to the classic formula, it just has third person camera and aiming controls, other than that it's basically exactly like the old games, it's the best of both worlds.

Damn. Well, at least I’m trying different things in this playthrough. Never really used the tmp when I played it years ago but I think I like being able to kick people over on command.Just as an aside, I don't recommend using a GameCube controller if you're playing the Switch version of RE4. Reason being the quicktime events use the second pair of shoulder buttons and the GameCube controller is one shoulder button short, meaning you literally cannot do those specific quicktime events. Shame too because it works damn near perfectly otherwise.
I haven't tried it, but is it true the unlockable Karambit Knife one-shots most monsters? I used to love knife challenges in older REs (my PB time in RE1 was a no save knife-only Chris run) but given how crap the normal knife is, and how many boss fights there are, I'm not sure I'm looking forward to that challenge.so chads, how would you rate RE8 knife-only challenge?
i loved re2 and 7. i absolutely hate revelations i think theyre dogshit. re3 is also dogI played parts of RE1 and RE4. Got both Revelations for ps4. I played the demo of RE3 its.....ehh?

I can respect the opinion of REmake2 being the best, but REmake 1 is still the gold standard.I wouldn't say REmake2 is the best game in the series; it's got the new guy Leon in it, instead of Rebecca, so it can't be the best game. I'm just saying that most people love it, and some fans think it's the best.
A new game with REmake2's mix of action and survival horror would be ideal, yeah. I'd also love to see a ReREmake (threemake?) of RE1, or a REmake of RE0 (with a full co-op option; that's a 4-6 Trilogy element that I genuinely enjoyed, and that I think might work in the context of the classic-style games). Normally remakes tick me off, but I think RE0 and RE1 deserve the REmake2 treatment (certainly moreso than RE3, which was my least favorite of the classics, even before the letdown of REmake3).
It was surprisingly easy compared to what I expected. Easily got like a two and a half hour run on my knife only run without trying to speedrun.so chads, how would you rate RE8 knife-only challenge?
That's actually been done before. In the often forgotten game Operation Raccoon city. That always seemed like a really interesting thing to do and there are a lot of different scenarios they could go with it. Something set a few days after the initial bombing where someone or a group of people gets past a military blockade or even a military like group gets back into what's left of the city. Maybe there are various splinter groups there and its kind of like a power struggle or a race for control of the situation, they could be there for a cleanup operation making sure everything stayed dead and trying to locate survivors (could be there to just kill and silence them). There is also the tried and true Japanese practice of aping Aliens, have some sort of early BSAA group or STARS-like one that's extremely sure of themselves and experienced go in to a more intact part of the ruins where there's a MacGuffin and something that got caught in the explosion that's just mutated in a super crazy way. The possibilities of what they could do are so good.
