If Biden has been tanking in the polls for six weeks, I anticipate a lot of sulking but not too much that'll be different from what he'll posting in the leadup to it. Maybe a week's worth of ranting. At this point it is clear that what motivates Robert is his viceral hatred for whatever he percives his opposition.

Back when the GameOverthinker was a thing and Robert was all about vidjagames, he used to go on and on about how the brown military FPS were killing the gaming culture, and how bad that everything was brown, and where were the colorfull platforms, and oh no how everything is terrible.

But the thing is, Robert doesn't really play videogames, and if he was being honest, there were plenty of very good platformers and old-school games even back when Call of duty ruled the world. Sure, the types of games Robert claims to like weren't main stream anymore, but it there was plenty of great new platformers if only you looked outside the mainstream a bit, and I never heard Robert saying a single thing about any of those.

Then again, Robert isn't interested in the games, but being in a self-rigthous stance against his perceived evil of the modern FPS. That is what he liked.

And since then, Robert moved on to politics, and it is the same deal, he couldn't care less about societal changes or moon wheat, and long as the "good guys" are in power, that is all Robert cares. So if the Biden win, he will gloat, belittle every single opinion against the democratic rule and even defend them if needed. Like he did with Anthony Weiner on this video during the Obama years:

Dudebros of the era were obviously playing Tecmo Bowl, Castlevania and Punch Out as one in four American homes had a Nintendo in the late 80's. The Playstation was a huge turning point in the gaming industry. Prior to the Playstation, it was a given that video games were a generational thing; kid shit you play as a kid/young adult but abandon once you become a junior/senior and have real life shit and other adult stuff come up in your life. Hence why a lot of 8 and 16 bit games were kid friendly/marketed.

The Playstation came out at the right fucking time, just as the generation that grew up playing Nintendo were now in their late teens and EXPLICITLY marketed to them. Though they never outright said it in their marketing, Sony wholesale went down the road of marketing their system/cultivating a game library that was designed to keep those Nintendo kids who grew up with Nintendo playing video games by explictly targeting them with more mature (IE violent) or non-traditional games (IE sports, racing, etc) while Nintendo basically tripled down (to their eternal regret) on only going after the kid market via the N64.

The guy who played video games as a kid who went on to play Quarterback might feel dirty playing a kid's game like Zelda or Mario, might not feel that feeling of embarassment playing Ridge Racer or Madden*. Or one of the more "cinematic" games like Resident Evil or Final Fantasy, which catered to people who wanted games that were darker and edgier and you could claim wasn't kiddie fair. The move to cinematic style games helped keep the young adult market, since they created the notion that video game DIDN'T have to be static, that the industry didn't have to operate on the churn principal, and you could keep a gamer hooked for life so long as you keep offering a wide variety of games to keep him glued to the machine that he could play without feeling ashamed.

(Another point of sorts; the Playstation era was really when sports video games truly came into their own as far as the genre codifying gameplay and licensing issues. Prior to the Playstation era, sports games were a motley crew of different play styles plus licensing issues over using real teams and player names. On the Playstation, EA basically perfected their formula for all of the major sports games then began the march to get exclusive rights to the various sports leagues to kill their competition)

I think Blob's bullshit logic is that he hates how jocks who would have phased out of playing video games around senior year kept playing/being part of the video game fandom, as opposed to making video game fandom be a constant stream of young kids and creeepy as fucks like Blob and the Kings of Kong/Billy Mitchell/Twin Galaxies type trainwrecks who are adult men who's lives revolve around kids games. And worse, how the industry catered to them hard, rather than keep making the shit Blob liked.

They Live is a funny film in that even with Carpenter's own statement of the themes, it's got enough room in it to project other theories about what Carpenter was trying to say in it.

Word of God from John Carpenter is that it's a metaphor for how yuppies/vulture capital/colonialism fucks up third world countries so first world countries can stay rich and powerful via exploiting poor countries national resources/use the locals as slave labor. This is in the actual text of the film, when Roddy Piper is having the aliens scheme explained to him: the corpse/bug like aliens are outer space's version of America and Earth as a whole is basically "insert third world nation" here, complete with the aliens having Earth leaders/businessmen working for them as collaborators the same way third world politicians and wealthy people in third world countries collaborate with America to exploit their countries. And that the whole "sunglasses reveal the truth" thing is Carpenter bitching and him creating a literal plot device out of the cliche that is "rose colored lenses distorting/hiding a horrific reality", not retroactively mind you, but literally in then present day.

Unofficially though? A LOT of people have accused Carpenter of making They Live a film about people getting red pilled about (insert topic here). In that way, it's basically a Rorschach test for what Carpenter was trying to warn people about with the anti-capitalist themes being window dressing for certain "theories" that Carpenter could never ever outright state publicly without committing public suicide and that, to this day, has to publicly denounce due to the implications if he ever formally endorsed them.

Actor Keith David, even stated that there was a conspiracy to kill the film when it first came out as far as the studio that made the film pulling it from theaters after 2-3 weeks even though it was a hit and was on track to make back it's budget. That "certain people" didn't really pay attention to the film and what it was about/saying, until it came out in theaters/getting reviewed positively and they sat down to watch it and freaked out over the film and what it was saying and how even with the above mentioned "Earth is a third world planet" scene, it's overall themes were ambiguous enough for interpretations that "certain people" didn't want normal people to ever think about. And that it only got a VHS release because the bean counters pushed to get it a home video release, since even internally, there was a lot of confusion among people at the studio about why studio executives would shut down a film the studio had invested a decent sized advertising budget for and was on track for doing well with decent box office pull and word of mouth reviews.

Carpenter will never obviously state that the various readings of the film are correct or valid, for obvious reasons. But They Live is a film where even Carpenter's "word of god" has enough wiggle room to see other things he may or may not have been trying to say/warn viewers about.
