It kind of is but it is hardly a unique take or even much of a criticism. You could argue it isn't as good as either, or goes beyond homage into straight up borrowing, but it's still plenty good. It's certainly better than any capeshit that came out in the last couple years that these two apes worship, and Joaquin Phoenix's performance easily earned his Best Actor Oscar.

It certainly doesn't shit on its source material, either the Batman franchise or the Scorsese films, and Scorsese himself was directly involved in the production, so what's the issue? The fact is neither of these gimps dislike it because of its quality but because they were told it was a MAGA chud incel movie. They really shouldn't emphasize that the best capeshit, or capeshit adjacent of the year, is for MAGA chud incels. It almost makes it look like those MAGA chud incels are actually right, make good movies, and SJW capeshit sucks shit.

I was watching Fredrik Knudsens Down the Rabbit Hole about The Mouse Utopia Experiment. When I noticed that the conditions for the mice are very similar to what Bob wants for humans in his superior future. The mice were given unlimited access to food, water, shelter, nesting materials, everything they could ever want or need in a huge structure. Bob wants the same for people. Robots take over every job and provide unlimited resources for the people all living together in the coastal mega cities. Who now have nothing but free time to dedicate to hobbies in the pursuit of pleasure. It sounds like paradise for someone like Bob. But if the Mouse Utopia experiment was any indicator the cities would quickly become a hellish nightmare for everyone who lives there. If i remember right one of the researchers described the mouse utopia as "hell on earth".

I'd say the most important part is: the people citing these two movies have never seen these two movies. If they're saying they saw King of Comedy, they are liars. For years you would only understand that reference if you listened to Opie & Anthony.
They just thought they are somehow speaking the language of its fans and making a bad-faith argument.
