Thinking about it, does his feeling towards Spider-Man: Homecoming prove the theory is right that he loves change unless it knocks on his door? While Peter is still Peter for the most part, the big changes such as the school, being well off, cooed after by other superheroes, and the quirky racially diverse friends are borrowed from Miles Morales. I think that's a good sign that Bob wouldn't care for Miles beyond the "He's (half) black" bit. Not that it's surprising if Bob is a hypocrite.

fftopic: It's something Marvel's been doing for a while now with Spider-Man or AU versions. Even the last cartoon was about him being a military agent employed by the US government while 15 years old. They're so desperate to cling to teenage Peter Parker that they try things like this to change it up instead of moving on to adult Spider-Man who's underutilized. They have implied that if interest in Peter goes away because of this clearly that means the kid is a problem and needs to be swapped out instead of the stories they're telling, that's what Miles is being groomed for.

Why would someone care what color people are when they regularly interact with robots, genetically modified supermen, aliens, magical constructs born of humanity's unconscious thoughts, etc.? "Oh my god, a nigger woman!" doesn't seem like it'd be on the radar.

Joe Quesada once remarked about why Peter Parker got divorced in the 616 universe and became single when there's already the Ultimate universe that it's because according to him, adult Peter can do things teenage Peter can't like "have sex and download porn". It's like he doesn't trust the audience to be invested in a married character. Which is a shame because I've become far more interested in adult Peter as I've gotten older; in fact I was rereading Ultimate Spider-Man a while back and I noticed that while it's still a good series, I didn't connect with it like I did when I first read it in middle school.

I mean they kind of are. Ever since him and Jim Sterling left the site has become pretty barren. A quick look at their YouTube page is also pretty eye-opening; 99% of the videos from the past several years are from Yahtzee.
I mean granted neither Bob nor Jim produced good content, but Yahtzee's pretty much the only draw to the site now that everybody else has left. Though I wouldn't say he's "missed" since even before he got shitcanned one quick look at the comments showed everybody hated him back then too.
