If AA wasn't "Believer" based, maybe Bob and Chris would go. But I'm betting they wouldn't for the very reason that it's "believer shit". IDK about Chippa but Bob absolutely is so narcissistic he cannot take responsibility for himself in the manner of not blaming everybody but himself for his problems.Al-Anon, in fact, guides members to take the focus off the faults of the alcoholic in their lives (along with everybody and everything else they can’t control) and put it on fixing the only thing they can control: themselves.
Considering that Robert’s full-time occupation is tweeting about how he’d run the world and how much smarter he is than everyone else, he needs this more than most. He’s also least likely to avail himself of this or any help, having already concluded that he knows it all and it’s his omniscience that causes him to be miserable rather than his life choices.
I’d caution against diagnosing anyone as an alcoholic. That’s something only they can decide; diagnosis by others often just makes them dig their heels in and cause more damage. It doesn’t matter what you call it, though. If you can’t pay your mortgage or buy your children medicine because your beer “hobby” comes first, you have chosen to put an inappropriate priority on beverages. Drinking that causes problems in other parts of your life is, at the very least, problem drinking.
Bob's basically almost never sober, and has admitted as such. If that's not an alcoholic, I don't know what is. Hell, I've known alcoholics who didn't drink half as much as Bob OR Chris.
