If you listen to Scorsese he is fine with superhero movies being a thing but not fine with them pushing other movies out, be it studios not making midbudget movies as much anymore or the very real issue of movies having few to no screens to accommodate more shows of the latest Superhero showing much like when Nightmare Alley which is a Disney movie had screening pulled to make way for more showings of Spiderman. However this issue I won't blame Marvel for making those movies but on the studios for demanding a number of screens for their movies or picking poor release dates in the first place. The other group to blame is the audience who choose to only see movies/ips they have heard of rather than original movies or more adult movies when it comes to the cinema yet many complain about everything being sequels and reboots.

Wouldn't even say niche movies because those do very well at indie cinemas, it's more the movies that don't fall into indie or animation or blockbuster or horror categories. Like if you look at the 70s highest-grossing movies you get stuff like Love Story, The French Connection and The Sting, however, if they came out now they wouldn't be able to do nearly as good as they originally did. Would be lucky if they even got greenlit and if they did get greenlit would likely have a smaller budget or be a streaming-only movie.

In fact, look at Martin Scorsese, he made The Wolf of Wall Street which is one of the rarer smashes hits from the past 10 years that isn't animated, a horror movie, a superhero movie or linked to some well-known brand however after that his next movie Silence was a bomb. What happened after was his next two movies The Irishman which was his return to gangster movies and Killers of the Flower Moon a movie which reteamed him with Leonardo DiCaprio were both sold internet streamers.

The Irishman despite being a hit for Netflix, Paramount Pictures still had cold feet in making the Killers of the Flower Moon and it took one of the streaming services, in this case, Apple+ to step up to get it made.

But do want to say nothing wrong with watching only movies that interest you. More so talking about those that complain about the lack of originality and only watch movies based on known ips.

I can tell Bobby why people are already apprehensive about Halo. Because movies and shows based on video games tend to blow. I used to be a big fan of Halo, I stopped at 4, because frankly, the story was wrapped up enough and I hated the direction the new trilogy seemed to be going in.

I mentioned it earlier in the thread when Bob made a comment about Halo being pro-nazi or some other retarded premise, and the thing that I think really resonates with people about the original Halo games, is getting to see the heroism of the desperate human race as its pushed to the brink of extinction, and all the sacrifices and compromises that they had to make to secure a future with humanity in it. Just going off of a lot of current media, I have no faith in Hollywood's ability to capture this.

Also, that woman from Substack, Lulu, I saw a tweet thread of hers, and I see why Bobby would be pissy with her, she said, "Withstanding scrutiny makes truths stronger, not weaker." Bob's Halo video, to this day, remains one of his worst takes on a piece of fictional media. It's very clear that he didn't do his research and just wanted to drop a hot take for the sake of getting clicks, riling people up, and virtue signaling. I haven't been into Halo for a long time (4 was also the last game I played, and it partly had to do with me switching from Xbox to Playstation between the the previous two console generations), but I do remember how the Covenant was not a critique of multiculturalism, but rather religious zealotry, and that the Sangheilli (aka the Elites) eventually end up switching sides and fighting alongside humanity. Hell, you even play as one for half of the second game. So the idea that the series is xenophobic just doesn't hold any water.
