He doesn't really believe this nonsense, does he? I mean, this is all posturing, right?

This is Bob Chipman. The guy who believes Shigeru Miyamoto ordained him to go on a quest to vanquish FPSes (and presumably "dudebros") from the gaming landscape. He does not believe that Black Panther or any black characters had any prominence in the Marvel Universe until the advent of the MCU. Never mind that the Panther first appeared in 1966. Never mind the varying levels popularity that Luke Cage, Misty Knight, and Storm enjoyed since the 1970s. Never mind the fact that Jim Rhodes and Monica Rambeau took up the mantles of Iron Man and Captain Marvel in the 1980s. Also note that Rhodes was the Iron Man present in the original Secret Wars and Rambeau enjoyed a stint as the the leader of the Avengers, so it is not as if they were obscure in the least.

Chucklefucks like Bob are so desperate to believe that the comic book fans were pasty-skinned, racist troglodytes that willfully blind themselves to the truth they refuse to acknowledge is that we don't care. It was the skill of writers like Roger Stern and Chris Claremont that allowed them to craft characters fans cared enough about to look past their melanin count. Yet all Bob can do it look at a person's skin colour and treat them with condescension veiled in adulation.

It is people like Bob who are slowly making me loathe Black Panther because they want it to be a political statement as opposed to a form of entertainment. You can bet your bottom dollar that they are going to do the same to the Captain Marvel next year, because they see the reception BP is getting as validation.

Chipman really put the term "Party pooper" a new meaning. The fatass thinks he speaks for all comic fans when he has no idea what he's talking about. But his ego refuses to let him see how much his career had gone downhill after self destructing it with GG, and aligning with the SJWS.

I really wish the Superhero boom comes to a end, and leaves Bob without a job to work with. His entire career has been championing comic book films. It would be hilarious to see what else he can try leeching off. And keep in mind, I'm enjoying the boom for what it is. But people like bob are just making the fans who are sane look bloody idiotic.

Did Bob ever watch cartoons like Static Shock? That was a really popular superhero cartoon during the first half of the 2000's, and yet it didn't feature an all white cast of characters. It's characters were pretty diverse, the main character was a young black male, and it actually did tackle social issues in a pretty mature and good way.

Or what about the 2000's Justice League cartoon? That used John Stewart as the Green Lantern, and he served a predominate part in the show.

I know I'm going to sound salty and :autism: for how I'm wording this but that's something that legitimately bugs me about capeshit movies. Comic readers always get elitism tossed at them and the best adaptation guys like Bob can say about the medium is that it serves as a testing ground for whatever shitty ideas that could be used for adaptations. Even if we accept that, they never think how you're going to be able to "test" anything if comics "die" in the process. Iron Man can be dead as an IP but who cares as long as we have Riri Willaims who totally will only be disliked by sexist racist nazis! What was the point of "testing" if we already have our conclusion? Who knows!

In a metaphorical way it's an almost parasitic way of viewing the source material. I honestly doubt the companies that own them want them to fail even if it's not as profitable, that makes little business sense. The DCU and Earth-616 have baggage but that's literally the best thing about them. They can and have explored things deeper than adaptations would ever be able to capture. If you want your IP farm then you need to make sure that legacy never dies. It takes a special kind of uncreativity to not be able to make anything at a forge of unlimited possibilities.

Most Marvel capeshit movies are mediocre at best. I wouldn't say stop making them but I just get sick of idiots like Bob sperging about them constantly.

I don't have a problem with them existing either. It's more I'm disgruntled at people with Bob's brand of views on them. They don't get that movies aren't comics and they're basically feeding on a corpse rather than keeping the flame burning. If you listen to them and then the MCU dries up taking the dying comic industry with it, they'll just move on to the next fad and then blame """fascist""" comic fans for the death.

Not that his ideas are happening since the Marvel Entertainment/Studios split. That would complicate it.

He has never mentioned any superhero animated stuff in his sperging. Meaning that his hatred for TV goes way behind, or he's very fucking lazy. And my money goes to both.

I am sitting here in stunned silence at the notion this swollen bag of rancid chowder honestly believes Black Panther was anywhere near as obscure as Rocket Raccoon, or Star-Lord, or even, say, Falcon or Black Widow.

I'd say he can't be that stupid, but I fear the weight of the evidence is against me.

(Oh and Scorsese / DeNiro did make a movie around the time of Superman between Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, and that movie was the musical New York, New York, which is almost completely forgotten except for the title song, which Sinatra made famous. So maybe Bob has a point ... unintentionally.)
Woah, never put clam chowder and this sack of shit in the same sentence. One is a well like meal item, while the other is a shitty futurist who postures, talks out of his ass, and is a general failure.

Oh Christ, shut the fuck up.

Totally not generalizing in the least.

If you want to see A Wrinkle in Time succeed, why didn't you name it?

I'll give him credit here for admitting that his ideas are terrible and shouldn't be filmed.

We really need a Fat Man Yells At Cloud meme to take off.

To be fair, both Critical Commons and Bob are kind of right about this cartoon, but that was pretty much Frank Tashlin's style. I think people like Jerry Beck or Greg Ford explain/analyze Looney Tunes cartoons better than Bob. Hell, even I have.

Bob acts like buying a ticket to see Black Panther is a good deed like giving your extra food to a poor hungry person.
Yeah, I can't imagine Bob giving food to anyone except himself, not even the scraps and inedible parts.

No fucking lets talk about this. I had friends who were mad that Green Lantern was a white guy in the movie. They liked Stewart. And I'm talking white guys. Who use the n-word pretty freely. Even racists like cool characters.
