I'm the biggest crybaby you will ever see admit to it. Some films really hit me; the end to Planes, Trains, and Automobiles got me quite weepy.

That is because Bob is a racist. What he constantly fails to process is that racism is not a binary concept that is tied to hate such as a Ku Klux Klan member or Nazis (historical or neo.) It is a spectrum of attitudes tied to the belief that minorities are inferior. In Bob's case, he has a patronizing attitude towards minorities where he holds them to a lower standard of behavior and that they need his benevolence as a white male with "privilege." Look at how he raves about Black Panther as a cultural watershed without giving it so much as critical look into its obvious narrative flaws. Same with Crazy Rich Asians, which is a standard rom-com that exclusively uses Asian actors because the film is set in Singapore. He looks at these people with the same fascination someone from Victorian England looked at a pygmy from Africa. He will deny this to dying day, but he acts like Black/Hispanics/Asians exist solely for his own entertainment and defends them for that reason alone.

I think this attitude has to do with the fact that his "career" keeps him in his brother's basement and away from meaningful contact with minorities. His obsession with the exotic, despite his plebeian tastes, is really more for window dressing because he believes that it makes him look more cosmopolitan without being knowledgeable or cultured. Thus he parrots the same SJW canards about how horrible white people are while refusing to accept that people of all colors can be hateful shitheads.

TL;DR, Bob treats blacks like monkeys because he finds them entertaining.
