Anything with Marvel on it will sell and this having a female super hero will most definitely sell. It’s not going to be a ghostbusters flop.

I’m quite surprised people haven’t gotten bored with the MCU, though. Thor: Ragnarok was terrible imo, Black Panther was boring, etc but the MCU keeps going. Cape shit is so boring to me, Hollywood needs to get back to making a wider variety of good films.

Everything is either a remake or part of a franchise these days. The MCU is almost insidiously Pavlovian that its most ardent fans will cream themselves at even the mediocre entry.

Fuck off, Bob. The marketing on Wonder Woman was fine and I doubt that anyone at Warner Bros. is quaking in their boots at the Captain Marvel trailer. Why? I re-watched the Wonder Woman trailer for comparison's sake, and frankly, it's far superior. The WW trailer does a better job of introducing Wonder Woman, establishing her character, and her world as well as showing her in action and even adding a bit of comedy at the end. You get none of that in the Captain Marvel because the "story" is all over the place and does not reveal anything interesting about Carol--at least in a coherent way--or show her in action... assaulting senior citizens/possible Skrulls aside. The vibe I'm getting is that Marvel Studios is leaning heavily on the "girl power" ideology because they really don't know how to make her as compelling a character as Diana.

Brie Larson's "acting" didn't help. Gal Gadot my be far from a good actress, but she at least put some effort into it. Larson's performance screams, "Did my check clear yet?"

Bring on Wonder Woman 1984!

Basically Gal Gadot actually seemed to be enjoying her role and having fun playing the character while hamming it up a bit (in a good way), and thus even if her acting wasnt superb or anything she still sold herself well as Wonder Woman to the point of everyone (other than suspiciously pissy and picky SJWs) generally liking her performance and praising it as one of the few good things about the DCCU.

Brie Larson looked like she was bitterly angry at being expected to show up that day on set, and thus comes accross as an emotionless personality deficient pile of genericness.....so yeah pretty spot on with how Captain Marvel has been in the comics for the past few years.

Part of it is the difference in characters. Wonder Woman is a cultural icon and has been since WW2 and there is plenty of works about her both camp and serious for even a casual non comic fan to look in to in order to get some decent idea of how to play the character.

Captain Marvel on the other hand is basically what happens when a second tier (and entirely unknown by normies) sidekick character gets arbitrarily declared "PERFECT POWERFUL WAMMEN BIG LEAGUES MAIN CHARACTER" and then gets put through the wringer of all her "problematic" previous characterisation (and appearence and bodyshape for that matter) being aggressively retconned away and replaced with a smug cardboard cutout regurgitating whatever the tumblr sourced writer thinks is edgy or LOLSORANDOM or woke.

Frankly I dont think anybody could really play a good character based on the constraints of her current writing even if they tried

I feel like Gal Gadot doesn't have much acting talent but there's a lot of charisma at work. Kind of like with Schwarzenneger. Larson is a decently skilled actress, and it looks like she's phoning it in.

To be slightly fair - playstation emulators do seem to be trickier than others. I've run arcade, SNES, NES and Sega ones just fine but my PS2 emulator doesn't seem to work (was hoping to place the game discs in the DVD tray). Anybody have suggestions?
