How will Bob react to seeing the Mario film?

Tell me more about Wyoming, you proud Bostonian.

Also, you can cross off "Bitching about the Electoral College".

Does he stop to think that his alternative to how a politically weird state like West Virginia is currently handled is, apparently, to completely ignore its inhabitants? Oh, wait, of course he does. That's not a bug, it's a feature. I keep forgetting Bob actually seems to loathe the notion of "representative government."

Also, and this is purely for the interests of trivia, but West Virginia only exists as a state because when the Civil War broke out its poor, rural inhabitants refused to go along with its more educated, wealthy gentry class ... who were slaveowners.

My point is, Bob hates the poor and sticks up for plantation owners. What? That's as fair as he usually is.

Did he just dismiss Harvey Weinstein as nothing but some obscure producer most of middle America didn't care for? He doesn't really believe that, does he? I can never tell if Bob is a screeching ignoramus even about his putative field of expertise or if he just unthinkingly passes along absurd lies like an IngSoc Oceania Outer Party drone.

Also, the whole "pull your pants up and stop speaking like a hoodlum" thing is the whole reason Cosby got found out, because some pissed off black comics (I think the first one was Katt Williams) resented it and started doing bits about all the dirty Cosby secrets that had been floating around Hollywood gossip circles for years. You fat, angry simpleton.

Who's smarter, the guy making money hand-over-fist, or the wannabe art critic trapped in a basement?

I always laugh when Bob starts mouthing unbearably ignorant opinions about any culture more elevated than capeshit and videogames, because he sounds like an even fatter Krushchev in that art gallery. Low class always tells.

IIRC the Outer Party (and Inner) represented something like 10-20% of Oceania's population. I can't imagine Bob being north of 80% of the population in, well, anything useful.

Don't wanna eat that ban now do you?

I missed that tweet. Ah, yes, I remember well my lectures in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, all those cases and statutes that established "preppy douchebags are usually rapists."

Bob, you're a stupid, loathsome bigot, and no amount of sucking up to minorities, feminists, or tastemakers on Twitter will ever hide that fact.

I was reading an excerpt from Stephen Harper's (former Prime Minister of Canada) upcoming book on populism and found this interesting. He basically divided the world into two groups: "Anywheres" whose jobs aren't affected by technology and outsourcing, can live anywhere in the world, and the nation-state is useful for only a passport. Y'know, the globalists. Then there are the "Somewheres" who usually live in their communities for most of their lives with only brief excursions into the wider world and have a strong attachment to their community and the nation-state.

Bob's lifestyle is clearly that of a "Somewhere's" (including his inexplicable attachment to Boston), but he has delusions of being an "Anywhere." While it is true that his vocation is not subject to the technological changes, it is not a useful one and he is effectively a corporate shill who works for peanuts.

It was actually a routine by Hannibal Buress that kickstarted Cosby's downfall. Though he wasn't the first to do it, plenty of black comedians have been taking shots at Cosby over the years (Eddie Murphy was doing it way back in the 80's). Buress's routine just happened to be the one to get recorded and go viral.
So what's the deal with his Venomsperging this time?

He hates the character Venom with a burning passion, and now that the movie is out he has to sperg non-stop about it.

Bob is so dumb it blows my mind

Manchin has never been a vote that decided something for the republicans, Manchin only votes with republicans on bills where his vote literally doesn't change a damn thing. Manchin votes with the democrats every time he can do so.

Bob would throw that all away because he isn't ideologically pure enough. Even if Manchin voted no they would be able to get Kavanaugh in, Manchin is doing his best to remain a moderate Dem in the Senate, and Bob would rather have a republican in there.

I can't believe we're at "You're an idiot if you don't like Spider-Man 3".

Even more Venom sperging.

Gonna spoiler the autism, but Bob's entire premise is flawed.

Nowhere does it say that Venom is "evil Peter Parker." In the comics, Eddie Brock was a driven, talented man and star reporter whose own rush to get the story (and to please his dictatorial father) was ruined when Spider-Man exposed his big scoop as a fraud. When genius falls, it falls hard, and Brock ended up losing his career and his reputation. His struggles with his own failure led him to a church where the symbiote happened to be hiding, and it sensed a kindred spirit who hated Spider-Man as much as it did. Thus, they fulfilled each others' needs: the symbiote gained a willing host to keep it alive, and Eddie gained the power and agency he didn't have before.

Venom is only "evil Peter Parker" in the sense that they both have strong morals and there's kind of a spider theme going. In fact, it's those morals that led him to become an antihero: while yes, he does eat people, he has a very black-and-white (appropriately enough) moral viewpoint where the world is divided into "innocents" and "others." Innocents, like Aunt May or random people on the street, are not to be harmed and must be protected. Non-innocents are fair game for anything. And while he's masculine, he's not a complete humorless badass; in his first outing as an antihero, he memorably rips up some criminals in a diner parking lot while singing "Strangers in the Night." He's having a ball being able to unleash his inner kill-craziness and appetite on people who deserve it.

The movie does quite a few things differently from the comics (as it has to, without Spidey in the mix and going straight to antihero without stopping at villain). But Eddie's still an investigative reporter whose big scoop ends up ruining his career, and he still has a black-and-white worldview once the suit's on and a bit of a blackly humorous streak. There's some hints that wearing the suit brings out your id. I'll agree that the movie felt uneven in places, but it was a lot more fun than I've had with any MCU films lately.

Also, of course the symbiotes were different colors: they were setting up the Life Foundation plot, which will doubtless spawn both Hybrid and Carnage in future. It's called laying the groundwork. And what the fuck are you on about? There were four symbiotes, all different colors. One escaped in the crash, and three were kept in the lab. Two apparently die due to being inadequately fed, while the final one escapes with Eddie. Where's the confusion?

In summary, Bob is a fake geek boy.

Also, LOL at Bob claiming to be uncomfortable passing moral judgment on anything.

Oh, I believe that without hesitation. Bob is absolutely uncomfortable passing judgment of any kind on LGBTQ+, "people of color," or feminists, because he knows damn well he's thrown his lot in with them and it's only their sufferance that permits him to pour shit on anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders as venomously as he does. If he ever crosses those people in a significant way, he's finished. No more Escapist gig, his blue checkmark might get taken away, no more impenetrable ScreenRant articles. There'll be not even a shitty excuse to cover for the rhetorical garbage fires he spews on a daily basis. And he knows it.
