How will Bob react to seeing the Mario film?

Huh. Thx for the heads up, @Sexy Times Hitler.

Now I have no doubt that Bob saw the movie. On his old blog banner he had a pic of Devon Aoki splayed across so I have no doubt that he saw the film. Here's the real question:

Do you think he just ripped off the movie based upon a half remembered plot unintentionally? OR do you think it was deliberate from the start?

Because for all his verbosity, it bugs me that he never seems to have time to give things credit (i.e. "Like DOA if it was a Law & Order episode.") unless it's an obscure film/actor he wants to get hipster cred from.

Not a big movie and not "right now," but I think Chan is Missing (1982) really pulled it off - it's a "Missing person or murder" film with an ending that had me shocked. Subverted my expectations, even. And yet it fit the situation, and I'd even call it realistic.

Sorry to keep bringing up really awesome examples of subverted expectations, but it just annoys me when people try to pretend it's the same as "disappointing."
Yeah but Bob's love of subversion always focuses on subverting rather than what they did instead. If you listen to what he says, TLJ is not good because what it did, it is good because it subverted what fans expected and did it's own thing. It's somehow intellectual in his world.

For example, you could say BvS "subverted expectations" because it did not follow the MCU formula but we know that would not fly.
I was going to use that as an example. The whole of the DCEU technically does "subvert your expectations" a lot. You didn't expect Man of Steel to be what it was.

You know who was a brilliant artist then? Trump. Everyone was expecting a Jeb! Hillary landslide but then Meme Man subverted your expectations on who was going to win. Totally legitimate argument.

...and Bob pulls out this canard again. Again, I must ask how that is even a defense? Pop culture criticism is not exactly a necessary vocation that civilization requires to function compared to agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and other careers that--you know--PRODUCE things. Critics like Bob produce nothing of real value and even their influence on public taste is debatable. With regards to BvS, word of mouth was likely the reason why the film underperformed compared to WB's expectations. People tend to trust the opinions of people they know over strangers and the proliferation of social media effectively cut out the middle man (i.e. Bob.) Hell, Zach Snyder is infinitely more useful than Bob because he actually makes the product Bob is "paid" to critique. BvS and Justice League will go down in history as failures, but they will be remembered. No one is going to remember the critics who reviewed it.

Additionally, Bob is completely replaceable so that begs the question, "Must there be a Superman Bob Chipman?" My answer is, "No." There are hundreds, if not thousands of people that are more intelligent and thoughtful than he is on YouTube. Hell, many casual moviegoers are more interesting to converse with than this living caricature who have real jobs and lives.

Just once I'd like to see someone snap back: "It's clearly not a very good living."

Bob Chipman will always be obsolete. He is the bottom barrel of YouTube film critics, and he has no skill other than antagonizing people. If he got fired today, had his Patreon yanked, and got booted out of his house, he would not survive in the real world. If you have to use hipster welfare to bolster your living and your mediocre job, then you are obsolete.

Basement ogres don't make good film critics, or productive members of society.

But still, the response has been overwhelming.

No you don't Bob.

Japan has actually been building up their military long before Trump. I remember back around 2013 reading about how Japan just christened one of their largest naval warships since WWII.

But the President in office right now has an (R) next to their name so now is the time to bitch about it.
He really needs to stop calling his bosses and teachers "Conservatives".

"Look, my ideology which focuses on disposing of people that I think aren't useful to society isn't interfering with anyone's lives. It's those who really want to relax laws that are interfering with others lives!"

Also, how are "libertarians" trying to make you obedient through economics? Hell, how do you even make someone "obedient" with economics in the first place?

Something something Social Darwinism something something they don't care about the poor something something free-market economics create unjust hierarchies.

EDIT: I find this especially funny considering in his political manifesto on his blog six years ago, he said he didn't hate libertarians while still disagreeing with their worldview.

Bob wouldn't give two tits for "subverting expectations" if the film he was reviewing was a pro-Trump propaganda piece. The only reason Bob loves subversion as a tactic now is because Rian used it to decouple the Star Wars franchise from its past themes and characters, and create a new "woke" version of the franchise that Disney hoped would appeal to the dangerhairs and POCs it wants to attract.

No one wants Bobby's "obedience"; Bobby brings down any group he associates with.
The son of man cannot comprehend his own incompetence. He will continue to spout what he truly wants, but will never know why people will continue to laugh at him.

A lot of leftist 'creative' types think their fully automated post-scarcity luxury queer commie utopia will not only give them free time but actively subsidize them to pursue their passions. Blob can't admit to himself that he'd be doing the same thing he is now; consume media and stuff himself with junk food so he has to delude himself that the shit opinions he subjects the world to are some kind of high intellectual pursuit. After all, bourgeois constructs like societal worth will no longer be relevant in the bright technocratic future.

I can't tell if moviebob actually thinks his statements aren't genocidal or supportive of eugenics, but I lean toward believing he knows that they are and is being disingenuous. You can't talk about automation making obsolete trashlings worthless and salivate over taking their political rights away and not know exactly what you are saying.

"I don't believe in eugenics, I just think the stupid trashling subhumans have to exterminated by drones so that we can create a superior future"

lmao bob fuck off
