...and Bob pulls out this canard again. Again, I must ask how that is even a defense? Pop culture criticism is not exactly a necessary vocation that civilization requires to function compared to agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and other careers that--you know--PRODUCE things. Critics like Bob produce nothing of real value and even their influence on public taste is debatable. With regards to BvS, word of mouth was likely the reason why the film underperformed compared to WB's expectations. People tend to trust the opinions of people they know over strangers and the proliferation of social media effectively cut out the middle man (i.e. Bob.) Hell, Zach Snyder is infinitely more useful than Bob because he actually makes the product Bob is "paid" to critique. BvS and Justice League will go down in history as failures, but they will be remembered. No one is going to remember the critics who reviewed it.
Additionally, Bob is completely replaceable so that begs the question, "Must there be a Superman Bob Chipman?" My answer is, "No." There are hundreds, if not thousands of people that are more intelligent and thoughtful than he is on YouTube. Hell, many casual moviegoers are more interesting to converse with than this living caricature who have real jobs and lives.
