His political career would essentially be over the second people asked him to comment on his more bizarre statements:
"Is it true that you once blamed the election of Donald Trump as President for us not growing wheat on the moon?"
"Have you at any point advocated turning all of New York state into a Manhattan-style place?"
"Candidate Chipman, do you really think FPS games caused the 9/11 attacks?"
I was a little hesitant on Equalizer, mostly because I liked the original TV series. Then again, you could film Denzel Washington reading out of a phone book and make a decent bit of cash on it.
John Wick, on the other hand, set a pretty damned good high mark for 'how to action movie'. Hardcore Henry wasn't bad but the first-person perspective put some folks off.
I remember Bob sperging out in rage at the Expendables, though, and never did understand that. I believe his phrase was 'cynical cash grab'. Well, yeah, no shit Bob -- but it was also a great love letter to those old 80's action flicks we don't get nowadays.
Hardcore Henry was cool, but the FPS perspective was a bit distracting. The Equalizer and John Wick movies might not be perfect, but at least they're more memorable than the woke shit coming out these days.I was a little hesitant on Equalizer, mostly because I liked the original TV series. Apologies if this comes off as "mad on the internet" but I had this conversation recently with a friend. It's one of the things I agree with Razorfist about. (Razorfist being Bob's nemesis.)
Bob is not only wrong about this, he is the problem with action films these days. Bob is of the opinion that action movies need to be self aware parodies to the point where he even considers non-ironic non-parodies like DBZ and Fast and Furious to be self aware parodies. They have to be self aware because otherwise all the over the top action and cheesy one liners are the dreaded f word. ...fun! And we can't have that. Bob thinks of himself as a highbrow art critic and thus enjoying a cool action scene is off the table. It has to be angsty oscar bait or have a "message" about the environment or gay rights or racism or disabilities or whatever else.
I remember this because he was talking about how (indirectly) this killed an adaptation of At The Mountains of Madness directed by Guillermo del Toro. Universal had been taking risks on 'oddball' movies for a while, and kept taking a bath on them. So finally they tossed up their hands, said 'enough' and started looking for sure winners again. Good for their budget, bad for any kind of indie or 'off the beaten path' movie idea. The one good thing about a Bob campaign would be the attack ads. They would be glorious masterpieces on one side (just 30 seconds of Bob in that Mario costume) and glorious disasters on the other (attack ads involving inferior past).
As I recall, Bob was butthurt expendables trounced Scott Pilgrim at the box office.

Meh, Master and Commander worked despite having no female named characters. But I'll take your word for it about Prometheus, as we've seen that Blob can be inherently dishonest when he has an axe to grind.Yeah, he's full of shit about that. Prometheus killed At the Mountains of Madness, because it was an uncomfortably similar idea (scientific expedition ventures to distant place, finds ruins of an alien civilization, and unleashes a bunch of monsters with a lot of unsettling implications for the origins of humanity) and that movie tanked hard. The lack of any female characters in the Lovecraft story has also been a persistent issue.

As a result, almost every action film of the last 5-10 years has been either family friendly CGI shit or has more winks and nods than punches and gunshots, their tongue placed in it's cheek and never removed until the credits roll. And because you can't take them seriously you can't get invested like in the classic 80s and 90s action films. They were cheesy and dumb at times, but they were also entertaining.
I don't think it's a coincidence that the only good action films of the last decade or so have been dis-liked, hated, and absolutely despised by "critics" like Moviebob. I'm talking about Hardcore Henry, John Wick, and The Equalizer. I've heard good things about Taken but I've not seen it. Hardcore Henry was burned at the stake for "sexism", The Equalizer and Taken dismissed as "dad movies". And even shows like Punisher, Daredevil, and The Orville are hated for being more popular than the critic approved "woke" alternatives.
And how are those woke alternative? Awful across the board. Nobody likes She-Ra, or Fem Ghostbusters, or Black Panther, or the new Star Wars films. I doubt most kids like them. They are just telling their parents they like them because it makes their woke parents happy.
I've not seen all the Fast and Furious movies, but the ones I have seen I remember. That tank chase over the bridge. The chase where they drag that big safe around. That car chase in London where they are flipping all the cars over. Vin Diesel fighting The Rock in the back of a plane. What are the best scenes in Black Panther or Fem Ghostbusters? No idea, because no one ever mentions the action scenes in those films, just how woke they are.

Take the L and move on. Bob's the only idiot still on that bandwagon.Someone please tell him that both Bob Iger and Kevin Feige are cool with Alan Horn sacking James Gunn.
