As long as he's in charge, sure.

I think some folks here are reading too much into Bob's rantings. There's no real consistency there, other than his desire for his own views and dreams to be paramount in reality, and FUCK the rest of us if we disagree.

He plays at being a 'deep thinker', but the fact is he's a sad little man who can't tear himself away from his smartphone for anything.

I would laugh even harder if all of Bob's folks leaving caused the red states to become MORE prosperous.

He really cannot conceive of industries outside of Hollywood can he?

It's a shame THIS never happened, the reaction from Bob would have been priceless.

This is very much the case. Forget trying to match Bob's beliefs to Marxism, Randian nonsense, leftism, liberalism, or any sort of coherent worldview. Although in all fairness I think most people don't perfectly square to any one philosophy, in Bob's case all of his allegiances are ones of convenience so long as they allow him to follow his true ethos. Insofar as he has one, it consists of:

  • Bob is always right.
  • Bob is smarter than almost anyone.
  • If you disagree with Bob, you're stupid.
  • Stupid = evil.
  • Be obstreperous and spiteful; envious and hateful ... but not to the people who might take away his woobie of being marginally attached to the entertainment industry,
  • Heap abuse on everyone who might make him realize his numerous inadequacies if he stopped to reflect on his failings for one goddamn minute.

Bob thinks that he's O'Brien, working for the good of the party to uncover those who would undo it, when he's really Parsons, a simpleton, noteworthy only by his utter devotion to ideal of Big Brother without looking beneath the facade, and eventually even he ends up unpersoned by the party.

Even then it's not a perfect allegory though, because Parsons had a wife and children.
