It's not an exaggeration to suggest that Christianity had a major influence on how Western civilization was structured. I'm certainly oversimplifying here, but consider how the Reformation led to the Enlightenment, which led to the American Revolution, which produced the free society that enables Bob to legally be a complete fucking ass without being rounded up for wrongthink. Fedora-tippers will attempt to downplay the Founding Fathers' Christian beliefs through "muh separation of church and state," but it's clear that their thoughts were focused through a Christian lens.

Another common online atheist rebuttal is how we don't need to believe in a magical sky deity to develop fair laws to order our society by. Without getting into too thorny a discussion, I'd question whether that's entirely accurate. Consider how some of the greatest atrocities in the modern era were done in societies that strictly limited religious practice, if not banning it outright; perhaps these were not entirely caused because of a lack of religion, but I feel the pattern is too big to ignore. Hell, for a more recent example, consider CHAZ. I can guarantee there was no religious guidance there, and look at how quickly it devolved into chaos.

So if given the option between a devout Christian and a member of /r/atheism to serve on the Supreme Court, sorry, but I'm picking the former every time.

Honestly, I'm just enjoying the fact that in my deep red state, life is more or less back to normal (still have some restrictions but it's not too crazy), while Bobby is still living in fear of the coof in his basement, unable to gain the little joy he had in life pre-pandemic by drowning his sorrows at the barcade or consooming the latest MCU product at the movies. Aside from his technocratic wankery, I find it humorous that Bob can't understand that being relatable is a big part of being a leader in pretty much any society that you're not ruling with an iron fist, especially a democratic one. If people don't like you, they're probably not going to keep you in power for long, if they even get you there in the first place. You can have a big vision, but if you can't effectively convey that vision to your followers, they'll seek out someone else. Bob is too smoothbrained to realize that Trump does in fact have a vision, or maybe he just doesn't want to give him any credit; much easier to call him retarded. But like him or not, it's how he was able to spread that vision that propelled him to the White House in 2016. Didn't hurt that Shillary is about as appealing as a kick in the balls.

To give you an idea of how badly Chris is representing the situation, restaurants are still not scheduled to reopen for indoor dining until October 1, and even then it'll be at 25% capacity. Restaurateurs are screaming bloody murder that such a reduction in business will not be survivable for a huge portion of them.
