Please god do not be a resurrection. Have it be another nail in the coffin, like releasing all of Monty Oum's concept notes.
Knowing the good people of what was once Rooster Teeth, they're a spiteful bunch.
If they were going to release his concept stuff, it’d have happened when Monty died in 2015, if they decided to just leave RWBY unfinished.

RWBY will appear in Anime Expo

Just let it die. It was a bunch of autists drawing their waifus in 3D custom girl. That is ALL it ever was. It was charming in the way a Sped can be charming. Now it's just sad.

So judging from this and Homestuck, Viz's business model has been to scoop up old once-popular phenomenons like they're out-of-style MMOs and get a small cut of what little money comes their way from out-of-touch people or people becoming fans way too late.

Don't think this will mean anything more than a couple more shipments of old merch. Good fucking riddance, you abomination.

Lol.
Being in Vizmedia is basically a death sentence. More than being cancelled. Lmao.
Just make hentai out of this shit. I'm sure is more profitable than reviving a cursed corpse.

I mean, there are worse companies that could have got it given their "repertoire" of licenses.

I bet they'll quickly hire the same professionals that sunk this thing in the first place. In summary:

Oh my god /co/ thinks this will actually lead to a continuation. Please, God, strike down every single RWBY fan in this world.
How viable is a continuation, even? Like, seriously, what animators? What storyboarding?

EDIT: Go to the latest Hero Hei video about RWBY. The comments saying that Viz Media is going to continue this shit. I couldn't stop myself from cringing.

Fucking goblin & clout horse Kerry Shawcross is now calling himself “co-creator” of RWBY. That’s new & lame, it takes credit for another’s original idea. It’s muddying the waters on a deadmans magnum opus. Typical for a RT alum & (shit) RWBY writer. so very déclassé.

ETA: archive
TBH, if you go back to the creation of RWBY as a show, Kerry and Miles were developing much of the world and lore as characters as much as Monty, and he approached those guys instead of the other way around. And enough work was done by them that you could argue they could earn a “created by” credit. However, RWBY itself has only credited Monty as a creator in their openings since V5 at least.

Not sure why the shift is happening.

Did viz ever produced animated stuff?
I don't think so? They look to be translators mainly
Viz is the American translation and distribution subsidiary of Shogakukan-Shueisha. Among other things, Shogakukan-Shueisha produced the anime for Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha, Urusei Yatsura, and a few Pokemon movies.

Basically, I think they already have access to people who could conceivably continue RWBY rather easily. In theory, anyways.

I can't say if that's a good idea though.

Kerry certainly claims such here. It’s not professional, appropriate, or fair at all for a writer or other production member to claim creator credit, no matter how long they worked on an IP. Kerry created what he did once signed on for Monty’s idea. The creator title is for the person with the original intellectual property alone, it’s simply his creation. Claiming such when it wasn’t someones own IP, is not common or cool. Show-runner, writer, anything else & it wouldn’t be this lame clout grab. It’s never been Kerry’s idea, & it never will be. It’s in bad taste to claim such, comes off desperate & lends nothing good to a new incantation of the series. An original writer credit would be more appropriate, as it’s more accurate, honest & respectful.

My take is two things, to lend reputation or authenticity from the original in order to bolster interest in the upcoming VIZ product, & for Kerry to grab more career accolades in his hungry grabby hands.

Knowing Miles and Kerry, they'll screw it up. Might even get Viz to drop them.
