S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Stalker) Thread

Some mods that “enhance” the game is OGSR
The modders on XRAY that Anomaly uses have been working on Mutithreading.
You read that right, we'll finally not be constrained to one core.
it's aimed at the Western Market as well aaand yet I recall their trailers rarely feature an English dub. Maybe like 2 out of how many trailers?
English dub in the "original 3" were all garbage. Give me subtitles instead.
A. Only one dev died and because the dude thought the war will be easy, so he got his deserved Darwin award. The rest of the GSC team quickly scrammed out of Ukraine; B. Hey, if they werent shoving their political faggotry or pulling many other scummy things, I wouldnt be mocking there asses.
Wait a minute, I thought two of the major devs died? The man who was Loki's model (Volodymyr Yezhov) died in meat grinder in Bakhmut and another? Or am I confusing with Sergei Ivanov?
jd2du4z05jkd1.jpeg
Also, reddit looses mind at women in the zone. pretty sure they were mentioned just not seen in the original (I suspect it was due to time constraints in the original). Great... Can't wait for troon modders now in the US to turn it into furry sex sim like spaceman.
I seem to recall the Russian (?) mod community had added women and sex in a few of their mods.

Pretty sure only one guy died, and he was also responsible for their enemies AI in the games.

I'd be more worried over how bad the female models look and not in the "Omg, they look phat", it's more in "Do you aholes know how to make female models to begin with?"

Please, it's like not they can't bring models from other games in (I'd bet money they'll pull in models from other games).

So, here's a bit of info that came from some journos managing to play the newer demo at GamesCom:
1. The enemy AI is still shit and none existent, doesn't matter if it's human or mutant enemies they'll just stupidly rush you.
2. It's speculated that the game feels way more scripted and doesn't have the randomness factor of the older games, three journos had the same encounter with controller in the same location, as the devs claimed everyones experience in that location will be different.
3. The locations do look good, but the obvious graphical downgrade is noticeable, compared to what was shown in the previous demo trailers.
4. They still haven't added a proper animation of the character when they pick up artifacts.
5. Guns have no impact and sound like you're firing airsoft weapons.
6. The game actually does have good atmosphere on certain locations that were shown in the demo.

Any good mods to recommend?
I want to get back to playing stalker
But anomaly and gamma suck for my tastes.

I played all three games
Anomaly,gamma and Coc
I did enjoy coc the most for the simple fact that I could start it and just doze off a couple of hours doing wacky shit in the zone
Ah, I tried playing CoC myself but didn't enjoy it much, mainly because I don't like games/mods without a story to go through.

Anyways, from what I played (a long time ago) here's what I recommend:

SoC:
- ZRP (Zone Reclamation Project) - basically a bug fixing mod, but comes with a modifier.exe, which lets you change and enable stuff in the game to your liking - recommender for new and returning players, think of it as vanilla+.

- AMK - makes the game harder, enables random blowouts - very respected and most think best mod SoC.

- Autumn Aurora - graphical enhancement - some like it, some don't.

I haven't played OGSE or Oblivion Lost so I can't say anything about them, but from what I've heard people say are recommended.

CoP:
- Gunslinger - Very immersive, you can play without HUD no problem, makes shooting guns satisfying. Highly recommend.

After playing the trilogy on Xbox, I can finally say that I understand why people like Stalker. It’s pretty good. Clunky and old but still fun.
Spergy weird fanbase but not New Vegas levels of turbotardism so that’s nice.
The new one looks to be solving a lot of the clunk factor which is great. Game awards are a joke but it would be nice if it took the big one home, watch all the Wukong Faggots cry.

It’s not set in the “aftermath” of Chernobyl explosion either, unless you consider the present day the “aftermath”. It’s set in the aftermath of the second explosion, which caused all the anomalies and the rush of people to the Zone to capitalize it.
Every game is set in Ukraine and under a Ukrainian government. The Ukrainian military is featured prominently in the game.
The Russian dialogue was there only because that’s what a lot of the post soviets states still speak, being less than only 20 years after the fall. It makes total sense why there was Russian dialogue then, and why now they don’t want to include it due to being at war with Russia now. Who wants to play a game in the language of your enemies when you have your own language you can use at home?
If you were born in America and speak English, does that make you English? No it makes you American you dumb fucks

I'm sorry this is delusional. I married into a Ukrainian family some 15 years ago. I don't speak Ukrainian, but I do understand and speak Russian reasonably well. I can read it and watch TV in it and understand. Can't write so well though.

In the entire social circle of Ukrainians not even 20% of them are full Ukrainian speakers. People who grew up in Kiev in the past 50 years speak Russian, plain reality. The only people in Ukraine who speak full Ukrainian are those from Lviv and pockets here and there. The entire education system was in Russian and the majority cannot or could not speak conversational Ukrainian to save their life.

However much that has changed now is largely irrelevant. As Chernobyl was a Soviet enterprise and exists in the pysche of the Soviet Bloc. It is not a distinctly Ukrainian event. All you achieve by making STALKER game into a Ukrainian language game is to deprive native Russian speakers of something relevant to their contemporary history and association. The Western audience that speaks no Russian or Ukrainian continues to not care.

The majority of Ukrainians speak Surzhyk when they want to. See here:

The maps can be ignored because the "Ukrainians" in 90% of the videos in the war all speak this. If not Russian outright.

I was never trying to get across that the majority of Ukraine doesn’t speak Russian and that Chernobyl was a distinctively “Ukrainian event”.
I’m talking about all of this in the context of STALKER, a video game that has always been under the hands of Ukrainian developers and in game exists in a post Soviet world. There is no erasing of history because it’s a fucking video game with flesh monsters and flying lightning orbs. The original Chernobyl disaster is only a backdrop from very long ago.
I am also peeved that there won’t be a Russian translation, but I understand why and think it’s perfectly reasonable for the devs not to include one right now. STALKER is a distinctively Ukrainian video game, and keeping Russian dialogue while your country is at war with them, and most of your people are learning to speak Ukrainian anyways, is retarded. A huge PR mess that will only hurt sales and the reputation of the company. If you think the devs should add a Russian translation right now in the context of current world events you’re advocating for GSC to just shoot themselves in the foot to please a bunch of gamers in a country where they won’t be able to even buy their game.

So, why did a games like Laika, Dune: Spice Wars, Star Wars Outlaws, Trepang, Shadows Gambit have Russian subs just as some examples. Also, Russian gamers can easily aquires these games, so what makes STALKER 2 any special? Aside from GSC wanting to do pointless flexing and act like they're special? You don't wanna have a Russian dub? Okay, fine. But not to include subs? This is nothing short of a pointless flex.

This isn't even a question of Ukrainian cultural sovereignty or promoting the Ukrainian language. This is just NAFOid Ukrainians taking their anger towards the Kremlin out on ethnic Russians and Russian-speakers, who make up a large share of Ukraine's population, and many of whom are on the side of Ukrainian sovereignty. The decision to not include Russian language is entirely spite-based, and there is no reason to believe otherwise. I'm glad Ukrainian voice lines are being added, but I don't see any rational reason to not have Russian as an option.

Again, Atomic Hearts has Ukranian subs, despite the war going on, they had no issues adding the subs and selling the game in Ukraine.

The kicker of retardation is going to be all of the signage around Chernobyl being in Ukrainian for inexplicable reasons. When even in Kiev this was not the case as recently as 2019 when I was last there. As the Soviets poo pooed non-Russian languages all signage and writing was in Russian. Which would have been the case in Chernobyl at the time of the incident.

But you can see in the trailers that all of the road signs, building nomenclature, and so on on ruined Soviet buildings is now in Ukrainian throughout the zone. Which is simply false and every single native Russian speaker will immediately key in on that. Or anyone who is familiar with contemporary history and the two languages.

I assure you one of the very first mods out on Nexus for this game is going to be open sourced Russian subs and voice lines.

Friendly reminder that CIA was supporting Ukrainian nationalists as a means of subverting Soviet cohesion for many decades. Look up Project Aerodynamic.

Mmm...No they didn't, for example passports, important documents, books and even movies would all be translated into the national language of various countries that were part of the USSR. Native languages were taught first, while Russian was taught as second with German being a third language if one wanted (English then was added later when Gorbachev was in power), there was even an order issued to teach unemployed people Ukranian, so they could easily communicate and find jobs. Plus, they would also occasionally test workers to see how well they spoke and knew the country's language.

No idea where you're getting this from. All of the Soviet period buildings in Chernobyl had none of this. As this is a Soviet ruin it isn't like the modern Ukrainian government goes into the Zone to update dilapidated buildings and road signs to be politically correct.

Kiev has or had (haven't been since 2019) dual Ukrainian/Russian signage on everything. If you walked around Kiev prior to the war Russian was the language of business and you would struggle to find someone capable of speaking Ukrainian well. Most legitimately couldn't and still can't. As documented by the war itself. The same is true for Odessa. Where you were long considered a retard country idiot if you spoke Ukrainian. Thus everyone speaks Russian even to this day. This is only less true as you get into the Lviv region.

Unlike say, Romania, or other bloc countries Belarus and Ukraine very poorly maintained whatever national language they had. Which is again why Russian was so dominant even after the Soviet period ended. You could go all the way up through a Masters degree in Kiev and be using only Russian the entire time.
