S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Stalker) Thread

No idea where you're getting this from. All of the Soviet period buildings in Chernobyl had none of this. As this is a Soviet ruin it isn't like the modern Ukrainian government goes into the Zone to update dilapidated buildings and road signs to be politically correct
Keep in mind, I never listed buildings. But, I will provide information on the stuff I listed once I get back to my PC from work.

So, is it over stalker-bros?
The game looks like it's made to appear to average westoid gaming consumer - le amazing graphics which is just "make everything bright and shiny like dog's ballsack", some generic sloppy UI with little to no character, that's what I got from a few looks at one of the recent trailers.
I doubt a negro in the zone is realistic, unlike what some alt-right grifters say Ukrainians absolutely hate blacks, he would be killed at first opportunity in such a place. Women in the zone is okay, if it's with like a 1 per 100 (or 1000) ratio, like in every other modern war zone. I fear that even your zoomer tarkov-like Anomaly and Gamma slop will be more of an authentic stalker experience than whatever they're trying to make. I'm sure it's gonna be filled with fucking retarded dialogue so that some redditfag can post a screenshot with a caption "hehe, funny joke, me like". I hope I will be proved wrong.

Stop being a nigger. Mutiple people who have connections to Ukraine have told you you're wrong. I used to live in Ukraine myself for a year or so during the Poroshenko era, and Russian was the language of choice in Kiev, not Ukrainian.

I honestly think having other races start to appear in the Zone is quite interesting, and keeps in line with the plot that people are trying to get into the zone to smuggle out artifacts and make a profit. It makes sense that over time people from all around the world would try their hand at getting in the Zone. I think it'd be badass to come across a Chinese warlord or some African mercenary trying to smuggle artifacts back home.

I did enjoy coc the most for the simple fact that I could start it and just doze off a couple of hours doing wacky shit in the zone
Ah, I tried playing CoC myself but didn't enjoy it much, mainly because I don't like games/mods without a story to go through.
I hope you guys tried out IWP with the Call of the Zone addon. If not try it out.
Montalbane would like it because it already overhauls the freeplay game he already enjoys. Chitty would like it since it adds a compelling story mode.

Me personally though, I like to stick to Old World overhaul for Anomaly as it is the closest to modernizing stalker with GSC's deisgn in mind.
I wished stalker mods would appreciate GSC's vanilla vision more.

A. Only one dev died and because the dude thought the war will be easy, so he got his deserved Darwin award. The rest of the GSC team quickly scrammed out of Ukraine;
Just wanted to add that the guy who died worked on the development of Clear Sky and a bit of CoP iirc. He quit GSC team in around 2007 according to Wikipedia. His name was Volodymyr Yezhov if anyone wants to check.

So, I asked back in July about getting into the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series; sadly, I still haven't gotten into the series itself as of yet, as I've been busy with both other games and IRL stuff. Happily, though, I've got some money to download one of the games on PS5; question is now, which one?

I know a lot of people are stating that I should be grabbing SOC, as it apparently has the better atmosphere, but I'm unsure as I've yet to play both myself, obviously. From what I have heard, COP is apparently smoother and has more features - I know Emissions are a thing, was a BIG fan of DayZ's Namalsk map back in the day - but has a weaker story, if that's right? Meanwhile, SOC has a stronger survival atmosphere.

To be clear, I'm honestly just looking for a game to just "unwind" on after beating it; pick it up and just travel the post-apocalypse-style Zone, collecting Artifacts, hunting mutants, doing quests, that sort of thing. I admit, I'm a casual with a fondness for "vibes" more than anything.

Any suggestions, for any of the games? It's going to be downloaded on PS5 console, so... I don't think I'm going to be able to grab any mods.

CoP is the better pick for you there - SHoC is really quite linear and even if it's reasonably open, it still railroads you, inevitably, to the ending gauntlet, whereas CoP also has an ending but you're given the choice to stick around and continue being a Stalker instead of leaving the Zone right away, so if you just want to be able to trek around the open Zone at your leisure there's really only one option.

Huh, didn't really know that; thanks! Make no mistake, I am planning on playing both SOC and COP eventually, I was just looking for which one to start with. I'm already familiar with the story, I know who Strelok is and all that - I've been following the games for quite some time, since 2010/2011 actually - so I'm alright with experiencing the story out-of-order and all that.

Small question: for Call of Pripyat, what guns do you guys recommend? I'm wanting to try and plan out which guns to go for when I get the chance; is there a clear-cut winner/recommended gun? Or is it more of a case of "use what you like"?

Personally hope it's the later, honestly. I enjoy build variety and experimentation, even if I'm not good at it.

That Evan Royalty movie is out

E: autistic lore nitpicks aside, the dialogue / exposition is really cringe. All those namedrops of the C-Consciousness and The Group and Noosphere feel so forced like the movie couldn't just be its own little thing set in its own part of the zone, they had to tie it back together to the main plot of the games and just failed miserably. And that's not getting into how stilted it all sounds.

Unironically the airsoft milsim shit might be the best part of the movie. That, and the cool effects they had with the monolith guy and that other thing.

E2: Also wasn't there supposed to be a gauss rifle? They made such a big deal of it in the kickstarter and it never appeared in the movie

The music sounds great but doesn't fit with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. theme. Project value looks great but way too much expositions. Acting, I don't know. Decent?

- There's only one Loner appears in the movie as guide explorer for Mercs to travel The Zone safely.
- Mercs claimed they cooperated temporarily with Duty but never seen Duty in action except their Rostok and 100 RADS Bar buildings.
- Highly focused on tactical actions, lacks of embracing the atmosphere of The Zone.
- Cameras are well focused on actions with few quick cuts applied on the video.
- The Mercs seem well prepared and fully aware how buffy and batshit insane the Monoliths are.
- Official S.T.A.L.K.E.R. twitter account approved it by advertising it. See archive here.
- One of original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. OST bar theme used for credits.
- /sg/ seems doesn't care for now.
- And this below which I'm not aware of until Godchu said so. Confirmed no Gauss rifle in action in the video.

The tired cat It's an hour long if you still want to watch it.

It's okay I guess, but at the cost bringing more "tourists" to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. community?

Meanwhile STALKER will be released for Nintendo Switch by early November. See article source here.

When people discussed this movies trailers on /k/ it was full of "oh its just gonna be tacticool high speed low drag fully decked out GAMMA inspired newfaggotry" posts.
I disregarded them as purist retards who never used mods.
Oh god i shouldve listened to them.
This movie fucking sucks, as a STALKER movie.
Its not a movie thats a stalker movie, its a B tier action movie that has good CGI and attention to guns and uniforms, but only has stalker "theme" and fan service.
Like to compare this to another movie that immediately popped up in my head after watching this.
Shadow of the zone is a generic action movie that uses the name of a game, incorporates some of the lore, setting and themes with fanservice "mentions" about specific lore only in passing(like noosphere, original scientist team).
One character(main one) is clearly the posterchild of the movie in the first minute of the movie with the right gear and look.

The movie im comparing this stalker movie to, is doom: annihilation 2019.
Has "theme" of demons and Mars.
Doom game fan service ULTRA VIOLENCE MOTHERFUCKER!(you know the cringe if youve seen the scene)
Uhhh, thats it?

All in all stalker movie has good cgi for the budget, had very detailed gear for the characters. But they tried to shove 2 hours worth of story into a smaller package.

SCP: Overlord was so, so fucking much better than this movie.
Honestly after watching the movie, it wouldve been funnier if they had made it a tragic comedy about the marked one as a sentient being being "controlled" by a player, getting fucked with random grenades and respawning, having really bad quicksaves kill him over and over again and getting pissed off at sidorovich for lowballing you

Please don't compare this movie to Doom: Annihilation. They actually tried with Shadow of the Zone, and though they failed miserably, you can still clearly see the vision they had in mind for an actually good movie. And that makes it leagues better than whatever the fuck happened with Annihilation

I mentioned this movie in a different (dead) STALKER thread. A movie made by Russians on a much smaller budget that is much more faithful to the game's world.
Of course, nu-GSC is fellating the GAMMA LARP one instead, because it's not made by r*ssians and it's not like the old GSC fanbase that's left after expunging it's Russian part is worth pandering to anymore.

Oh I remember this. Actually good watch despite the story plot is kinda stupid.
