S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Stalker) Thread

Slightly confused about artifact spawns. Are they random - albeit based on the anomaly they birth from- or completely fixed?

You're telling me that this shit is straight-up broken out of the box, with major features simply not working and reviewers are still giving it decent to good scores and opining about the series' past success and this stinker's future promise?

Fuck these niggers. I'll stick with Chernobyl. At least I had no expectations for that mess.
Well that and some people are giving it good scores because of the "Muh poor Ukwaine guyz"

I'm kinda reaching my limit tbh, I'm about 14 hours in and I've been more than patient with it because I paid the 20 bucks to play it and I love STALKER. There is the bones of a good STALKER game here, but it is so obnoxiously broken. There are also just some choices that are poorly executed regardless of the buggines. Rat swarms are a cool idea, but they just amount to 15 or 20 of these silly little rat models running around and taking turns to jump at you, and then disappearing into cover when you jump on a box. Ditto with dog packs. Making the mutants tougher is a good idea, but it just amounts to these bullet sponge mutants lunging at you, running away, and then lunging at you again. The only mutants I've enjoyed fighting are Bloodsuckers, and even they have just been made spongier and slightly trickier because they run beside you rather than straight in front of you. Human enemies continuously go between being insanely aware of your position and tactical, and just standing still while you shoot them. It needs to be Cyberpunk 2077'd, but I highly doubt GSC are going to put in the work to fix it.

as a pirated game is okey. lol if you payed 2024 full price for it
I am pirating it from DODI repacks as we speak, so i am a bit concerned if its gonna run or not.

Also they added women and blacks in the game? Why do every dev limit diversity to three fucking groups Women, Fags and Blacks. I going to play it but please god hope this game is good and does not has shit that I dont want to hear or interact which is anyways related to real life

There is one gypsy woman, actually. So they've branched out to a 4th group.
THIS POST WAS ZONE CHECKED BY REAL STALKERS

So I assume this game isn't good if you pay for it? Pirating it as we speak ;)
The game is okay, hopefully there are some patches to at least fix the absolutely awful spawing system for enemies. I'm enjoying doing stalker things like scouting anomalies for artifacts and hunting down stashs. The pda losing functionality sucks, no stats stinks and no profiles for any characters. I also hate the stupid game slop compass they put in the game instead of the radar, getting a saving prompt followed by the compass turning red is obnoxious and I doubt I'll ever get surprised by blood suckers in this game because of it even though they feel the most dangerous in this game. Mods have made the game feel way more tolerable at least.

If you're a stalker cuck its worth a buy, otherwise pirate or wait.

Bloodsuckers, and mutants in general, are just shitty ammo sponges. They evoke no feeling of threat, just tedium. Fighting a Bloodsucker at night is a prime example - using up your ammo on a fucker that runs faster than you, turns invisible, doesn't de-aggro and is tankier than guys in power armour is absurd.

I'm pretty sure Skif doesn't physically turn fast enough to track them as well.

This thread is reading like "STALKER fans excited to play STALKER for the very first time, shocked to find out STALKER is actually bullshit jank with a gameplay engine that either runs perfectly well or is the buggiest piece of shit possible with no in-betweens".

There's a difference between being a small ukie studio, trying your best in the big world and trying to do so on your own engine you made from scratch, on a tight budget as well because your CEO has to buy a porsche to flex on the Kiev plebeians, and using a well established engine like the UE5.

stalker shadow of chernobyl was broken and buggy as shit when it came out, but back in 2007 it was so far beyond anything else out there that it the criticism was kind of tempered. it was one of the first game with full dynamic shadow casting from every light source, simulated npc behaviors and motivations, and it's one of the few games to ever pull of a metatextual twist ending that doesn't insult the player's intelligence. it's become its own archetype of the genre western for open world games. you're a man with no name, in a morally ambiguous setting, where there are hordes of unnamed savages waiting to stick your head on a pike and the promise of unfathomable riches the deeper you go, and the protagonist has a dark past that comes back to haunt you.

stalker 2 kind of looks like they decided to make a game within the same genre instead of an actual sequel. it doesn't have the same technical wow-factor and cutscenes are the fastest way to destroy immersion in a video game, so i'm not really sure what the purpose of the project even is besides just shitting out a detailed storyline. every stalker mod group over the last 15 years has done that too, and it doesn't make people play them
