Saints Row thread

Maybe they're clones that are already made and are "in the field" that you fight? Either way, I hate how boring the gangs were in The Third, it's what, a generic Euro organization, Tron 1337 h@ck3r$, and Mexican Luchardores, and they all barely get screentime. Loren dies right away and the twins aren't that interesting (only interesting fact is one of them is Sasha Grey), gay ass basic bitch Matt Miller, and angry wrestler man. 1 and 2 did the gangs way better, and also I hate how they treat the Boss like he's some random street trash thug, he took out six big gangs and one of the biggest corporate entities in the country, was literally BTFO'd, and survived and got his revenge. The Syndicate should have been kissing his ass, but then again maybe that was the point of the story, that no one fucks with the Saints.
I thought Killbane was not a bad villain for what he was, now i am wondering how 1 or 2 would have handled him?

So I've watched the new gameplay trailer and here are my takeaways as the resident fence-sitter on this topic.

PROS:
- We see some returning vehicles from previous games in the new visual engine, which gives us something to compare. They look far better than SR3 and far less cartoonish. This goes for the whole game, but it's a nice thing to base our judgements off of.

- again, scale does seem really well done

- the desert area looks FAR more expansive than I was expecting, which lines up with what we saw in leaked gameplay. This is actually really cool, as SR would be the only open world game of its type to attempt any sort of expansive non-urban area, WD1/2 tried but it was very small.

- options for customization and choice are really expansive, it looks like.

- new mad max style gang is interesting albeit a confusing addition.

- shown gameplay does seem to lineup with leaked footage, and everything looks very complete.

CONS:

- lesbian Nigger thing character is back for another trailer. They really wanna push this character for some reason, can't be good for marketing.

- I have no idea who this Spanish guy narrating the trailer is supposed to be, there's alot of information being shoved into a few minutes here

- vtols returning so get ready for some annoying air missions

- over the top excessive "be your own boss marketing, weaponized taco Truck, etc excessive millenial/Gen Z pandering and stereotypes which leads me to my conclusion here which is this:

Has anyone ever considered that the woke/pop culture elements of this game may be somewhat tongue-in-cheek?

she's default Boss iirc
She (it?) Just seems like a horrendous marketing tool.

I mean look at this. All these other characters look...fairly normal. Loud obnoxious guy, tech nerd, the mechanic etc. These are all pretty standard game tropes. And then you've got this check all the boxes mystery genitals wierdo jammed into the middle of it

The gameplay looks SO MUCH MORE like a regular Saint's Row game when this thing is removed from the equation. The leaked gameplay has a character that's a huge buff southern dude just beating the shit out of dangerhairs and reddit commies for 30 min straight. It comes off as a pretty regular game without this THING being the focus.

Ironically bad is still bad.
SR3 Is really not a good game
Moment to moment gameplay I'd argue is smoother and more fun than 2, but everything else suffered. It was a good indication to how Volition's priorities shifted to over the top spectacle and not open world fun action. Steelport remains one of the single worst open world cityscapes I have ever seen in a videogame.

It's also a design that really just does not gel with The Boss's characterization as a one hundred percent committed murder machine. She's thin, waiflike, dresses like shit, and doesn't look intimidating or cool. That could be said of the entire extended cast but especially their default Boss.
dont lie, the one where you takeover the penthouse in the beginning with power by kanye west playing was the best mission in that game
It's a shame the game peaks in the first two hours, between the bank robbery, the Shoot 'em Up inspired skydiving action scene, and that mission, it's pretty much all downhill from there.

And the choice of saving saints or straight killing discount bane with i need a hero as the background with everything going to shit was great IMO

Overall I've always felt the gameplay style they went for regarding SR3/4 didn't fit the game well. However it was definitely better than the "duck and shoot" gameplay of Sr1/2. The open world in the original 2 was far better however, steelport was horrendous

The worst part of that default Boss is how.much of a smug asshole they make it. It really does make the marketing come across as woke trash, despite the fact that I don't really see that in any of the gameplay.

i just hope this game has at least one moment like that penthouse takeover mission. it wont fix the game or anything but at least it'd be memorable for something like that in a game like this
Sorry man, but the one where they take over the church is far more mundane than taking over the penthouse. All you do is drive over to the church, use a bulldozer to destroy some construction sheds, kidnap the real estate agent to intimidate him into giving you the deed (this is the moment the shirtless douchebag does the hashtag bit), and then hold off against a couple waves of Marshall troops.

From what has been shown, the game doesn't come even remotely close to the spectacle of some of the missions in 3 & 4.

>used to be called Rim Jobs
>now it’s changed to Jim Robs
>still really going through with this
>game comes out in the next 10 days

“Creative”
So be completely fair here, Jim Robs is less obvious but still the same joke. They didn't cuck out like GTA turning TransFender in LosSantos Customs

There are ALOT of options shown. That's at least an upside

Imagine justifying for a unfunny game made by people who wish you were dead, and in a hole in the ground. Admittedly it's always funny to see people see in 4k HD how bad something is and still go "This is fine", but I'm much more used to seeing that in the Star Wars thread. Like sure, the gameplay for this piece of shit might be fine, but you know what other game had okay gameplay but a story that made you want to strangle the creators? Other M.

Idk about that one man. This game is made about an hour and 30 from my house, in a fairly red area. I've found no real political shit from DS/DSV (if you have anything beyond the usual corporate pandering let me know) and from what we can see from gameplay, the biggest, "worst" gang is a bunch of commie redditors who are portrayed as absolute fucking morons, and the one whimpy millenial character gets made fun of for not liking guns.

I've got my concerns about this game, but I'm thinking the political/woke shit has been inflated/exaggerated, as beyond the obvious pander trailer character I'm really not seeing anything. This is arguably a less woke title than SR3/4 from what we can tell so far. This doesn't look to be anything like a Mafia 3/WD2/Cyberpunk in terms of wokeshit.
