Saints Row thread

Why exactly would Rim Jobs (fuck Volition changing the first letters around, it's still Rim Jobs) be locked until 4-5 hours in?

Let's face it, customization is probably the only thing this game has going for it, so what sense does it make to keep a big aspect locked?

You know, I’m really dreading the awkward moment come when I find out that Volition decides to introduce cheat codes into their game, just like how Rockstar did with Grand Theft Auto V nine years ago, and the cheat codes turn out to be weak or either lame.

At least with their disastrous Definitive Edition™ Trilogy they did bring back some okay cheat codes that made their series memorable. With this SAINTS ROW™ game, I genuinely believe if they brought back cheats, it would be really underwhelming and not fun.

It just sucks to think about it.

It's another goal for forward Progression.

Similar to how GTA games locked features behind gameplay for about 75% of each game keeps things somewhat fresh and flowing. Honestly glad to see that return as it's a feature most games have dropped in favor of "here is everything 10 min into the game"

The level of customization they offer is honestly looking really good. Doesn't seem to be going the direction of GTA where all customization is based around whatever the current "thing" is so you have all this dated shit. The Rim Jobs trailer showed the same old school pickup truck (which should be a Betsy if they use the old names) as everything from a lowrider to a mud bogger. Thats....pretty cool I won't lie

Okay, I've gotta know what's up with this one. You just can't use grenades at all unless you put points into a skill tree? The weapon so simple a caveman could use it?
Apparently it's one of the first upgrades and your only method of tossing a grenade until that point is the special execution where you grab an enemy and plant one in their ass.

You have to do a story mission before you can unlock it from what I understand. Why they would arbitrarily restrict it when all other games in the franchise let you use it from the jump I have no idea.

Oh and apparently it will have lots of accessibility options up to and including the ability to change notoriety difficulty. Not sure what that will change.

“Creative”
That shot of traffic at like 2 seconds is hilarious, you can tell they spam-spawned the same 2-3 vehicle models inside that tunnel via the debug menu and called it a day.

This doesn’t have anything to do with the rest of the conversation and is something already said before but if you’re going to play the first Saints Row game, do not play it natively on the 360. The game has frequent screen tears and struggles to even hit 30 fps, let alone 20. On the other hand, the game ran at a steady 30 fps on my Xbox One without any issues.

The V-Sync they added in the TU is buggy as hell and makes the game crash, on top of that.

Has anyone ever considered that the woke/pop culture elements of this game may be somewhat tongue-in-cheek?
It's the most-poorly executed satire ever if so.
Which it isn't, Volition are true believers.

FC5 as a whole was designed to be a mockery of white people, Christianity, and the US, with the lead devs coming out and saying the game was a political statement about America.
IIRC FCV tried to avoid politics in general and only took a stance once twitter faggots held them by the balls. Their comments were worthless since the game was weeks old by then; you can't re-interpret a finished vision and execution. It's why they went super pandering with 6, and they paid the price for it.

Calling FCV a mockery of white people would be calling 4 a mockery of Poos and 3 a mockery of Indonesia.

In other news, for any of you who use Spotify, SR2's "Ridin in That Black Joint' by Wale is available, but for some reason it's available under some literal-who named Chipinkos.
Not complaining though; song slaps.

Game Journo types give Ubisoft too much credit. Every fucking Far Cry game under them boils down to "everyone is shitty", to the point that the idea there is any kind of message or political stance in any of them is hard to believe.

Even Far Cry 6, which is by far the most "woke" Far Cry, basically tells us the leftist rebellion ruined the country to the point that the people voted in an evil dictator to fix it. And then after the woke rebels over throw him, the final scene is basically the woman farmer, the woman college protestor and the trans fags being like "lol what do we do now?" and the glownigger telling you that they're just going to fuck it up and all that matters is you get to kill people and have fun doing it. So if Far Cry 5 was a mockery of white Christians, is Far Cry 6 a mockery of marxists troons?

If the Frenchies really are trying to make a statement they are very bad at it.

I miss Far Cry 1 not focusing on that kind of message or way less , it's annoying after we had it since 2 or 3

A part of me really wants the original two games to get the SR3 remaster treatment, but I do wonder how much would be changed to lighten the mood.

I'm one of those people who prefer the SR3 tone, but man I'd forgotten how dark the originals got before you spray shit everywhere for a mime clown.

Let me break this down then.

Far Cry 3 Setting: Fictional Island Setting
Far Cry 3 Enemy/Antagonist: Racially ambiguous evil cartel/gang leader who rules the island, and his gang.
Far Cry 3 Protagonist: Unfortunate Tourist who's goal is to avenge his brother and friends.

Far Cry 4 Setting: Fictional Himalayan Setting
Far Cry 4 enemy/Antagonist: wierd pink suited leader guy, and his goons. Again, a leader with control.
Far Cry 4 Protagonist: You as you try to spread your mom's ashes in her home country.

Far Cry 5 Setting: Real US State, with scenery based on actual areas.
Far Cry 5 Enemies/Antagonist: literally the people who lived there who have formed a cult.
Far Cry 5 Protagonist: You, as a federal agent

Lets narrow it down then

3: You, as individual, good guy. Fictional location Leader, bad guy.
4: You, as Individual, good guy. Fictional location leader, bad guy.
5: You, as government tool, good guy. Cult clearly designed to be trump supporters set in real life location? Bad guys.

Also Keeping in mind that in Far Cry 5 you as the player set off the conflict, not the cult.

Anything after 5 doesn't really matter, since New Harvest or whatever it was called was an expensive DLC for 5, essentially, and FC6 was literally just pandering woke shit and clearly nothing else mattered to the dev team besides "trans people and you can pet the dogs"

Far Cry 1 was after the apocalypse, Far Cry 2 was very much a spin on real world events in Africa and didn't try to hide that, it was a fantastic game because of how brutal it was

Being a game journalist would suit you. You definitely lack the eye for detail.

Do they really think the name Rim Jobs is that offensive?
Possibly given how Freckle Bitch's also got censored, and they probably think they made a funny by swapping the first letters around.

It's like the "Saints" having blue as their color before swapping over to purple, just an unnecessary change for the sake of it.
