Scott Pilgrim Netflix Animated Series - Animated by Science SARU

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
i was a little mati about the adaption until i learned the writer of the books was the one who wanted to tell the story like this.

so it's not a case of netflix writers ruining an established story, but of the creator ruining his own story. which, i guess is his right. still not gonna watch it but it seems like the lesser of the two evils.

also that's what happens when you let canadians have too much power over anything so what can you do

I feel bad for all the Scott Pilgrim fans out there who were looking forward to this, I really do (kinda), but I'm lmaoing over here
All the self proclaimed fans I've seen are eating it up with cope like "Uh, I didn't actually WANT to see a faithful adaptation anyway." And "The creator actually totally said it was going to be really different in this obscure interview you have to go out of your way to find so you're stupid for thinking it would be an actual recreation of the comic." And "Who cares why are you mad? The comic is still there." So honestly they deserve it.

I'd call them faggot cucks but they like Scott Pilgrim so that's a given.

I don't care if the original creator totally wanted it done this way, it's a shitty hat trick to pull on the audience. Nobody likes it when authors go and fuck up their original work, they're not infallible. He just did the most obvious predictable thing every modern cuck leftist creative does.

I really need to keep emphasizing it's not even supposed to be the established story getting changed or one of those fucking "sequels" that fuck everything up". I genuinely would not have gone out of my way to see this if my friend Hadn't called me up and gone "Hey you wanna watch that new scott pilgrim anime?". He didn't know about the bait ad switch I had literally just found out about before he called me and I was like "Man if we're gonna sit through this shit you better brace yourself because I heard it's gonna probably be another one of THOSE netflix shows."

The whole idea of Ramona fusing with herself reeks of the standard female character arc infesting so much media post MeToo. "You were already amazing, you just didn't realize it."
In a way, Negative XP are still right. The movie did ruin a whole generation of girls and ironically, it looped right back around when those girls ruined Scott Pilgrim. That, my friends, is stellar writing.
I am so, so very tired of this shit. If Ramona ruined a generation, this shit sure as fuck is, too. Every little girl raised on this shit is being left without a role model for self-improvement and being told all her problems are the result of other people or not habeebing in herself. Someone in a writers room must have noticed this, but no one else cares. It's junk-food, hyperpalatable garbage-writing.

Bad old storytelling:
Character has a flaw, overcomes the flaw and becomes a better person and is rewarded for it.
Good modern storytelling:
Women/tranny/faggot/nigger is perfect but doesn't know it, god herself tells him he is perfect and never needs to change and rewards her for it.
It feels like a religious belief, am I crazy?

This is definitely a problem in media nowadays, but this is an adult comedy series, not some role model thing for kids. Well, that and the female characters aren't portrayed as flawless.

Also the song is blatantly meant to be making fun of people that look/act like a bizzaro world even more stripped down version of the MOVIE ramona. The movie's weirdly tainted people's perception of the source material. People that don't associate them side by side usually complain it made scott a kinda whiny cuck instead of an abrasive goofball lovable asshole protag for a lot of scenes and line deliveries, which is true, but they usually neglect to mention it also gave Ramona the "hollywood monotone snarky smartgirl character" treatment. They weren't really like that in the source comic and I'm glad the people that returned from the movie proved they easily could have done something closer to the source dialogue's implied tone through this series instead of just continuing the movie characterization.

I don’t genuinely believe a movie affected a generation so palpably that it caused its degeneration. When we’re talking about sociology, that kind of “Single variable is the cause” thinking is precisely how these mongoloided BPD coke-whores are taught in classrooms and it’s what informs their opinions and lack of critical thinking skills exclusively today, among other things.

There are a variety of reasons for why they’re like this:

1. People are stupid and they like simple.

2. People don’t like the truth and they would much rather hang on to comfortable lies.

3. People, but in particular women, are emotional creatures and they are convinced/manipulated by emotional rhetoric only. Any and all arguments they’ve heard and any and all faith they hold has been imprinted via emotional pleas and manipulation.

4. People internalize belief and make it a part of who they are, so when you criticize their beliefs, they respond irrationally. You are not attacking beliefs in a vacuum to them, you are just attacking them.

5. It is being taught in academia. Not just theory, they are being given credits to do praxis. Praxis is simply putting theoretical work to the test, they use the word to cover for what is essentially “I will give you credits to do activism.” Down to picketing and mobbing, it’s being encouraged and taught. They are literally taught that the end justifies the means.

6. This has been going on for decades, which is why every company is filled with these people.

This is likely the cause of a number of problems, least of which being shitty, activist influenced “Make it a woman, make her gay and lame” style writing. They don’t give a fuck about anything but that. Be careful if any property is picked up by a western company, they will fuck it up one way or another in the exact same way. Our only hope is the Japanese, as much as I hate to rely on the loli peddlers.

Edit: I hate that I have to outline this as some Alex Jones conspiracy theory. It makes you sound like some whacky “The jews did it” kind of guy where there’s no real evidence, just a bunch of tenuously linked events filled in with bullshit, but it what it is.

I'm guessing none of you were fans of Rebuild of Evangelion, Final Fantasy VII Remake, or Scream 2022.

I've only watched the original series and I don't care much for it, it is one of those "it ain't for me, let it go."

FFVII Remake works more as a sequel than an proper remake. It introduced a bunch of stupid elments to a story that was pretty straight forward originally, like time travel and parallel timelines and those stupid plot Ghosts.

I love the original FFVII, but anything else related to that game is shit, Dirge Of Cerberus, Crisis Core, Advent Children etc. The original FVII is a very self contained story, anything you need to engage it ison the original game and it's ending feels conclusive, you don't need every single detail about how the characters will end up, all you need to know is that the planet was saved. And to add elements that feel like bloat, characters like Angeal or Genesis don't feel like they would belong in the original game, same goes for the post game additions, like the Advent Children villains.

So, to me it's whatever, I might play the FFVII - Rebirth when it gets down, to what, 20 bucks? (right now FFVII remake is 15 bucks), but even so, can't say I care either way.

Scream was always shit, always.

I am so happy I'm literally crying. Thanks, Netflix, Thanks. I want more, more, more...

I have no faith whatsoever that a current day adaption of Scott Pilgrim can be good. It was already le quirky tumblr-user style media back then but it was lighthearted and apolitical so it was still good. I guarantee this won't be.

I'm not being optimistic about this at all. I love the books because they're a perfect time capsule of 2000s hipster culture for better and for worse. The already progressive tone is going to be turned up to 11.

i wonder how they gonna treat Wallace Wells being a huge faggot (doubt they tune that down)

Adapting Shart Pilgrim is one of the few things current entertainment could probably do well. Califaggotry culture (the thing that dominates showbiz) is basically stuck in that era but with more gender insanity.

If it's faithful I could see it be entertaining but the copium has always been that Ramona and Scott are horrible people and that's intentional, but there is no way Netflix, in the year of our Lord 2023, is going to allow a female protagonist to be portrayed as anything other than perfect.

Or they did and they just made a close adaptation of specific moments for the trailer so that they could draw in old millenials

To begin with, the protagonist himself, while always a pathetic, nigh-sociopathic white manchild cuck, was portrayed in a manner sympathetic enough that it will not be deemed acceptable for the hate he's likely to receive.

Conversely, as it's been mentioned, Ramona in the original comics (less so in the movie) was idealized without really concealing her shitty personality. No way Netflix and the audience they have cultivated will have this.

We prophets now.

It is funny now in retrospect that all this time traveling shenanigans bait and switch deceitful marketing BS was kind hinted on one of the trailers since they used the theme one of the biggest franchises that abused this trope on the last decade, Mortal Kombat.
If a second season ever happens will either go on one of these two directions:
-A completely grounded plot where the entire time travelling shenanigans from the first season are dropped entirely since now it will be the actual "sequel" the author wants to tell.
-They will crank up the BS to 11 by using the Multiversus, anime Scott will meet his movie and comics version with the great plot twist that old Scott from season 1 is the video game one that wanted to start a harem after defeating Nega Scott but was stopped because Ramona did that for him.
Either way, Gideon and Julie power couple will be cucked on the first episode by a different evil because that's how the modern medium works.

yeah it's stupid and stuff but i guess i just can't summon that rage, myself. i look at it like getting mad at someone if they crashed their own car. dumb of you to do but it's your car ig not my problem

I don't think there is anyone who literally thinks killing Michael Cena with their time machine gets us to the 2023 Tradwife timeline, it's a funny joke because Ramona Flowers was an early example of the aimless hipster manic pixie dream girl wannabe archetype that realized that women could get a basically inexhaustible amount of male attention from 5-6/10s if they are willing to pretend they like anime, video games and Neutral Milk Hotel.

Does anyone remember Ruby Sparks? There was this small window of time when the "manic pixie dream girl" archtype was appearing in a bunch of films in the early 10s.

Evangelion
I remember nothing of the original (I've never seen the remakes) except for the cool organic mecha and the obvious fact that it pandered to fucking degenerates. As expected of the dude who did The Secret of Blue Water which was like a Studio Ghibli series written by a paedophile. IIRC the original VHS dubs of Evangelion had "on next episode" voiceovers proclaiming more skin of (underage) girls. It's mildly bewildering to me that it has some mainstream appeal now.

Nowadays being a hipster loser means what, watching Vtubers, getting groomed on Discord, never going outside?

Thinking about Scott Pilgrim makes me wish we could go back. Yeah it's kind of lame and gay but it's comfy and not as bugfuck as reality is nowadays.
Nah, thats the newage equivallent of goth. Hipsters are busy xitting about (((current political issue))) all while crying about how Elon is ruining their precious hugbox by letting deplorables like Null back on the platform.

-Haruhi Suzumiya ruined a whole generation of anime.
You cant ruin what sucked in the first place, anime avatar.

Creators of yesteryear used to be people courting an audience, seeking to please people and tell their stories. Now, modern day creatives are irrational propagandists courting the validation of other irrational propagandists. You promoted the chick to protagonist, made it gay and lame, and you pissed off the male audience? That's a win in their books, because it's pushing the right message and appealing to the right people.

Old things are bad things. So if you have to adapt an old thing (which you do because companies want that name to make money) then you twist it and change it and destroy it to make it a new thing that more closely aligns with your beliefs.
You just described Critical Theory. Co-Op something from the inside. Hollow it out and make it into marxist shit. But retain the outside image of it. Then flip it to marxist shit once you have total control.

Yes, "tune in for more fanservice" was at the end of most episodes during the first half in the original version, too. But the only underaged girl who gets sexualized is Asuka, who is already a college graduate by the age of fourteen and looks exactly the same as a 28-year-old in the Rebuild movies.

And before anyone mentions Rei, she isn't a human being.
