I don't understand. Is this an American thing? I live in South America and we never pay attention where we leave the carts. Nobody here complains about that, not even the employees.

I’m sure if it was a “right-wing” place like Home Depot or Lowe’s, or bass pro shop, he doesn’t return the carts, as his little pedestrian way of rebelling.

I'm a former cart wrangler. A manager tried to make me quit by assigning me to just doing cart duty. I loved it. I didn't have to mop or really even deal with customers.

For the record, I always put my cart back, but I intentionally park by the cart coral. Ironically, it's the place your car is least likely to get hit by carts because of the guard rails. And the space tends to be empty because people think the opposite is true.
