Shitty Alternate History Thread - If only the Romans had AK-47's they would've survived...

The Japs could have been easily starved into submission in the event that it was impossible to secure beachheads. The USAAF's aerial harbor-mining campaign and the USN's submarine blockade had basically cut down Jap rice imports from mainland and colonial Asia to zero in the months leading up to August '45, and there just was not enough domestic food production capability to satisfy their population's daily caloric intake. It might have taken maybe another 8-12 months, but it would have brought them to the threshold of unconditional surrender all the same.

Starving Japan or launching an invasion would still lead to more casualties than nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki did, though.

For those who haven't read it, basically Abbos land in a Green Antarctica (Original Name. Don't steal) via drift wood after a flood and they create a civilization that is full of zoophilia, necrophilia (with an entire empire called point blank Necrophilia Empire), cannibalism, torture, and every single edgy shit you can imagine and manage to create Gunpowder while everyone else is in the Iron Age. After James Cook lands on Antarctica the Abbos suddenly assimilate Western Tech so fast that they manage to conquer the UK at their height under Queen Victoria and eat the British and Irish and continue their 69edgy48me civilization by eating South Americans (sadly not Brazilians) and create Intercontinental ballistic missiles that use children to steer instead of computers and so on and so on.
God, that piece of shit was so damn disappointing for such and odd and interesting premise.
I came in excited to see what kind of civilization could emerge in an environment where the day/night cycle is a year long and all i got was RAEP and Lovecraft references every 3rd sentence.*sigh*

you cant starve Japan out of war, they have to much fish around them, same goes for england.
I don't know so much details about the fishing industry in Japan, but I think Japanese coastal waters would have been depleted very quickly if that was their only food source and they would rely on seagoing fishing boats to bring back fish from further offshore.

You know how in Germany, by spring 1945, the American and British air forces had so few military targets remaining that their fighter-bombers were strafing farmers' wagons and tool sheds.

In Japan, it was the same thing. Lots of gun camera footage of American aircraft strafing little fishing boats in the Seto Inland Sea.

you can deplete those waters. same goes for the seas around england and even the north sea, its way to fertile to deplete and there is very little humans can do about that, people would just move down the food chain of the sea, eating poor quality fish and other sea creatures.
there are chronicles from germany that talk about people suriving on seaweed and seaworms for a decade because they were not allowed by threat of death to use boats to fish.

I know that personaly, had 3 days of in 4th grade because they found some smol bomb next to my school and found 10 more while digging it up.

people in the colonies often dont understand how fertile other lands and seas are and how little you need to harvest if you have the manpower.

I'm willing to step out in defense of Green Antarctica because personally, for all of my biases, I can respect it when a setting establishes that its premise is to go as absurdly grimdark as possible. The biology sperg in me also appreciates the colourful array of entertaining pseudo-alien creatures the setting showcases in the earlier parts.

And you cannot deny the inherent hilarity of the present day segments where posters on that universe's equivalent of AH.com get banned or reprimanded by the mods for being being intolerant or racist against the undeniably evil Tsalal culture. I think the board's current day ban-happy nature just makes it even funnier in retrospect. The setting is certainly not high art by any stretch of the definiton, but its still entertaining.

If Ian the Admin's far right to you, I dread to think where you are on the political spectrum.
Ian is basically mentally stuck in the late 2000s, when gay marriage and the Iraq War were the biggest concerns of the American left, troons were a curiosity that nobody thought about, and the police were the people that you should definitely trust instead of buying a gun to defend yourself.
