We’re in the age of remakes. Not even just for video games, but for movies too. Konami went in on it like everyone else. But the thing about Konami, is they don’t like making their own games. No, gotta outsource it to no-name companies. And see unlike redditors I don’t trust Konami on this one, because they did the exact same thing back in 2007-2012. Gotta revive this franchise when it’s convenient to milk that dead cow. Then when they make these new 4 games, they’ll abandon the franchise again for another 10 years.

This franchise is dead to me and if I ever wanna experience Silent Hill again, I’ll just replay the original 4 games.

Just like back when Resident evil was just starting out, it seems like history is repeating itself and these “remakes” of dead space and silent hill only exist because RE led the way yet again.

I still blame 343i for kicking off this trend with Combat evolved anniversary back in 2011. Remakes existed before then but they weren’t nearly as common and replacing most potential new AAA games.

Yeah I'm not even remotely considering giving this a chance given what happened the last time they farmed it out to western devs. Metal Gear will get the same treatment eventually too, although I would give that a chance given anything would be better and more coherent than what Kojima did the last decade of that series.

Although if I had a choice, both would stay dead.

I feel indifferent to the Silent Hill 2 remake more than anything. Only thing that's even gotten me slightly interested is F and for all we know it could be a fucking mobile game or a VN rather than a proper sequel. If the 2 remake turns out shit then I get to make fun of it while I boot up the original durring October again. If it turns out good then good. Personally if I were to pick any SH to get a remake it would be 4 as 4 is the roughest out of all the original Team Silent games. But 4 isn't the one video essayists on Youtube suck off so it would be harder to market it.

4 is rough around the edges but I really like it's ideas. Maybe it's just me but I got the feeling that PT took a lot of inspiration from it. If 4 got a remake that tweaks the gameplay issues (the inventory, that escort quest in the second half ect) and had a spook level on the same level as PT it would be great. I understand peoples issues with 4 but never got those who say it's complete crap (I mean come on, SH4 gave us that crazy circumsision dude on the SH wiki).

343i can be blamed for a lot of things, but I really doubt they can be blamed for the current remake trend. Especially given how CEA could be played with the old style graphics even back then, and they eventually corrected their years-old fuckup of direct porting the PC version by adjusting the OG visuals to finally match the Xbox version of the game on MCC.

Are you talking about Ito? He's the only SH2 guy I know that tweets a lot. With something like SH2, you don't get to decide how things are interpreted when the game's core narrative is for the player to figure things out on their own through implication and subtly.

As for the rape thing, there's so much evidence that rape is in it. Are we lead to believe Angela willingly had sex with her father and brother?

Silent Hill is enjoyed better when you stick to your own headcanon and theories, as least for me it's better as an individual "experience" to put it some way, that's why i willingly stay away from fan communities or feeds from the devs and shit
