Who is up for some Skyrim porn mod drama?

It begins with a sex framework mod, OSex, which was released several years ago on the Nexus. Generally seen as very barebones and clunky in comparison to the more expansive and older SexLab framework, which has super fun features like getting sexually assaulted in the anus by giants or getting vored by Nazeem. The mod then became abandonware and its mod creator, CEO, is on record saying that he has no problems with other users building off his work to make new mods.
Here is a over half hour long trailer for the mod (YES, A HALF HOUR TRAILER FOR A PORN MOD) which reeks of the guy huffing his own farts.

Along comes Sairion, a programmer in the Skyrim modding community who develops a modernized, more stable version of OSex called OStim, and over the last year has released a new mod monthly that often makes the front page of the Nexus. The mods are typically like those from Sexlab but less script heavy (and no bestiality) . He's been making serious money off of these porn mods; his Patreon was raking in over $3,000 a month for early access to his mods.

A few months ago, CEO comes back and officially says he is totally fine with Sairion's work (make note that in order to use OStim, you still need to download OSex, so CEO's mods are still getting traffic on the Nexus).

Just a few days ago, CEO releases a new version of OSex called OSex+! Neat, right? A new Patreon too!

Except...CEO left a little secret for users in the mod's code. You see, when the new version of OSex detects any mods or plugins made by Sairion on start up, it locks your game and shows this message:
One of your mods is piracy of OSA and OSex.

Please do not steal from me by letting my hard work get pirated.

OSA and OSex were made over years of hard work by me and me alone.

That work includes:

2,000+ Animations.

200+ detailed multilayered illustrations.

20,000+ lines of codes.

I made this for the community for free without asking for a penny.

Please don't disrespect me and the work I did by stealing from me.

-Ceo
For those that don't know, if you remove scripted mods midway through a playthrough like what CEO wants, really bad things happen to your save game. As in they can possibly be irreparably corrupted and you might loose hundreds of hours of playtime. Just go back to an old version of OSex? Apparently CEO wants the old versions of OSex to disappear so that no one could ever use Sairion's plug ins ever again (now impossible due to recent changes in Nexus' TOS, but the slimy little pervert was caught thinking of a work around, as seen below)
unknown.png

As of this post today, OSex has been taken down by CEO, showing this message.
I received a copy right claim for about 75% of the animations in my mod and was told I had to remove them. This broke everything due to how animation scenes were connected. I am sorting this out but it will take time, thank you for your patience.
Curious. I didn't know one could copyright a sex position. Especially when you're claiming you did all the work yourself: "me and me alone"
As you can imagine, the coomers are pissed that they can't show Serana a good time tonight after clearing Forelhost.
Revolting Redditors!
Sairion's response on Patreon (he apparently offered to share the patreon money with CEO for doing nothing at all)
Lovers Lab forums (getting constantly cleaned by the jannies, but there's some good drama there) NSFW

As you can imagine, CEO is having an utter chimp out at Lovers Lab, revealing he's super bitter over the $3000 a month Patreon that Sairion makes and in response to criticism, made a middle finger plugin for OSex+ with this caption.

I made a few new animations you guys might like to see, can you guys please ask the people on OStim discord if I can have permission to put these in my mod, I really worked hard on them?
This situation is getting a lot more entertaining than when Arthmoor had his hissy fit or when Civil War Overhaul was taken down by its troon-loving mod author to protest the 2016 election.

Here is a over half hour long trailer for the mod
Is that the same thing as the feature-length movie he hyped up before he decided to vanish instead? He knows how to put slick graphics on things, but his ego must be immense. Yes, he did describe it to be a 'movie' that was also supposed to teach you how to actually use the mod. I'd take SL jank over this any day.

Here's some ancient history. Ever heard of Dark Brotherhood Resurrection Part 1? It is hilarious.
Fortunately, the story doesn't end there. This mod's part two had a crowdfunding campaign. The goal was about 44k. Unsurprisingly, Bethesda sent a cease and desist. Probably because this shit is not even worth 100 chocolate coins.

There's a spell in the mod that lets you see who is a virgin. Glowing means yes. Some child NPCs didn't glow. If it wasn't for all the edgy content, I'd just assume that was because children aren't killable unless you use a mod.

I miss those novajam videos. I like that the voice actors sounded like they had fun with it but, whoever made this, were they actually serious about this then if they asked for that amount of money? That’s the sort of obliviousness that makes a milky cow.

You want insider modding drama? I've got insider modding drama.

I was brought on as a writer for the DLC update for the Skyrim Romance Mod. The original mod author, Maralightfeather (her real name's Katie and she's apparently really insecure about that -- she unironically calls herself Mara. I guess he expects people to believe that's her actual name?) had nothing to do with this project. She handed the whole thing over to a woman who had been on the team since the beginning.

From the start of the project, she was stressed out by it. She seemed overwhelmed, tired, and uninspired mere weeks into this year-long nightmare. Not all that reassuring. Nevertheless, she was determined to finish it, at least she thought so.

This was our only Developer and she had no leadership skills. She wasn't able to correct anyone or keep them in line. She would've been great solely as a developer with someone else in charge, keeping all the ducks in a row, but she was forced to perform both roles. She'll come back up, as will Katie (Mara), and a very prominent member of the Skyrim's "seedier" Community. You might just be able to guess who it is.

The Beginning

So, this project started out with like, eight fucking writers and the scripts were awful. There was no governing style or theme beyond "ooo that line would be funny!" One of the writers, who went by Kalla Lightheart, was a crazy bitch. Picture a woman well into her thirties who treats a fictional characters like they're her babies. For reference, she can be seen here on Skyrim Romance's official website in the "testimonial" thread. Here's a link to it if you enjoy reading embarrassing stuff in general, but Kalla's addition takes the cake.

Kalla Lightheart PL.png

Bear in mind, this loon was brought on as a writer years ago. She was personally working alongside Katie

If you're not initiated and trust me, I don't blame you if you aren't, the titular character of the Skyrim Romance Mod, Bishop, is not an original character. He is in fact a character from a game called Neverwinter Nights 2. This is, in essence, a fanfiction mod, which isn't a bad thing in of itself. He is voiced by a dweeby-looking guy named River Kanoff who's actually risen to some prominence thanks to this mod. Don't worry, he'll come up again too, as he's also had a key role in this project's demise.

Katie caught a lot of flak earlier into this mod's existence because she actually took audio from the game Neverwinter Nights 2 itself itself and made a bunch of other bad calls, like trying to Kickstart/GoFundMe $35,000 for this mod. I haven't been able to dig up evidence of this since she's wiped it from the Internet, but evidence of this happening exists. Below is a screenshot of an older Reddit post [link] and an [archived link] discussing the plagiarism aspect and the mod as a whole.

Reddit Post.PNG

Anyway, I was annoyed by Kalla the second I met her. Midst a brain-storming session, she explained to me that I knew nothing of Norse culture or Bishop's character (who she was extremely possessive of) because of a suggestion I made. When I more or less told her to stop being a sperg, she bowed out immediately. Our Dev (she's the deleted user) dm'd me thereafter for the sake of damage control. This might give you an insight to what the relationships there were like during this mod's production.

Justification.PNGCharacter Expert.PNG

Kalla went on to fuck up perfectly good scripts with her obscene usage of the word "ass" in almost every line spoken by the leading male 'cause she thinks that's how men talk. I put up with it. Whatever. The mod was never going to be stellar. Unfortunately, those scripts have been overwritten and lost to time, so I can't share them. I remember a line distinctly saying something like, "chasing after your shapely ass after vampires is not my idea of fun."

On her Deviant Art page she lists herself as a professional writer, as well as her Archive of Our Own page. View at your own risk.

Kalla was quickly booted from the team due to mounting drama and issues surrounding her. The Dev gave me the screenshots of her "breakup" with Kalla and it was pretty funny.

1.png2.png3.png4.png5.png6.png7.png

I figured that after this girl was gone the production would get a lot better, but that wasn't the case. We already had a lead writer called AlassinSane, AKA, Tara, who was fucking awful also. She had these overly-ambitious ideas and plotlines that were boring. I, as well as others, were discouraged to edit anything she made. She was the one who came up with Bishop's backstory in the OG mod and if you know anything about it, you know it's a dumb, convoluted mess.

I'd go more into her, but she's just dull and she got booted from the project too. Drama arose with her when she decided she wanted to make Bishop's character bisexual. It was clear that she had an agenda and wanted to "get back" at Mara for alleged homophobic comments she made ages ago. She accused anyone who disagreed with her as being a homophobe or too dumb to understand her creative vision. Below is a supposed interaction our Dev had with the powermad AlassinSane.

College Kid Nonsense.PNGAgenda.PNG

However, Tara's leaving was important, because Dev's attitude changed for the worse after. She was so convinced that the mod's writing hinged on Tara that she started panicking. She went into recruit mode to find writers to replace her. We ended up with a batch of dippy girls who didn't know what they were doing and gave more work than I bargained for. There was one competent writer in the mix and she ultimately took the leading role (though the term was fairly meaningless in the context of this project). We managed to churn out a few okay scripts. A trailer was created for this DLC update and people were so amazed that Bishop talked like a normal person for once, given the change in writers.

With our Dev doing all of the modding/media/audio/so on, production was reasonably slower than it should've been, but all things considered, energies were still high. She showed me many of the behind-the-scenes stuff via screenshare, we talked at-length about our plans for the mod, everything was good -- until the nuke of bullshit.

Chris (Xiderpunk)

With constant family troubles, illnesses, and other stuff marring the mod's production, it slowed down demonstrably.

The original mod is jank on a technical level and in order to replace its terrible, broken animations, our Dev thought to get help from one the animation-implementing gods of Skyrim's Modding scene: the author of Flower Girls himself.

For those who are unaware, Flower Girls is an NSFW mod that enables you to bang, and be banged, by any Skyrim character of your choosing. I don't feel inclined to share the links, but his work is not hard to find.

Chris was bizarrely enthused about helping with this mod. He said, emphatically, that he loved Mara's work and that he wanted to contribute to Skyrim Romance for a long time. There was something weird about his interest, but I knew he'd fix this piece of crap with his coding prowess. In my voice-calls with him, he revealed that Mara's modding was dogshit of the highest order, that it had no regard for the heavy scripting in some locations. He took the whole mod, not just our update we worked on, and started rebuilding from the ground-up it in a brilliant fashion. No more incompatibilities, no more CTDs. He streamlined the romance into an actual flowing quest with the appropriate cues and stages. If you're even a little bit of a nerd, this kind of stuff is really exciting to see happen in real time.

Chris is a criminally affable dude. He's one of the only people from the UK I've come across who wasn't an insufferable dick, maybe the only one. Granted, he was a bit too charming.

Well, he and Iris started working together rather closely, sharing their modding progress back-and-forth. I knew something was up early on. I guess he pulled the slick "my wife and I are having problems/we don't even love each other" tactic on this poor woman and told her he'd fly out to visit her.

The Legal/Marital Drama

You're going to have to take my word on this one because all of this happened within the SRM fan server and that place is an unwalkable cesspit and much of this is secondhand information. The fans of this mod are insane, weird, asocial girls who make me want to rip my hair out, so I stayed far away from this server, even though I could've made some buddies with my writer/editor status.

One night, allegedly this goof (yeah, River, I haven't forgotten about you), got drunk during a fan-hosted fanfiction reading and shared a dick pic with all of the eager fangirls who, I hear, were egging him on to do it.

River.png

Sadly, I do not have this dick pic, nor has it made its way onto the Internet to my understanding. So, this guy lucked out big-time. He confessed the lapse of judgment to his fiancée, who was infuriated by this and told him to quit. He relayed this news to us all at once without warning, leaving the project in very uncertain straits. He recorded about half of our scripts. I have the raw audio files for download. If you don't have time for that, here are two samples of him reading our scripts.

I apologize for the big blank videos, Neither of these files were wanting to properly attach as .wavs.
Hard to believe that voice is coming out him, huh?

Not long after this dick-reveal supposedly happened, a couple of the fangirls came out and accused both River and Chris of sexual harassment. This was an obvious attention-seeking ploy, but neither of these men were willing to let it slide, so they instantly sought legal council and lawyered up. The second they did that, the girls walked back their claims. While River agreed to be on this project 'til the end, his lawyer advised that he separate himself from it entirely. He was, for the time, legally not allowed to work with us anymore. So, if you were one of the people anticipating this big update, you have the fans to blame, and mostly River for getting screwed up with the wrong girls.

At this point, spirits were lower than ever. The one good writer and I were the only ones left and we could could not touch the mod until Chris finished fixing it. A year passed and we were all getting sick of this thing.

One more person would show up to bring this all to a crashing halt. Meet Hildr.

Hildr.PNG

This unfortunate-looking woman is yet another bad writer. Here is her Archive of Our Own if you enjoy reading long-winded and flat Skyrim fanfics. It seems her favorite pastime is sharing smut in the SRM Discord and circlejerking over neo-feminism.

Polandry.PNG

Vasectomy.PNG

Right when we were established and the writing was going well, the Dev brought Hildr into our writing team without telling us. The other writer and I were rather pissed, given that adding more writers proved to be a detriment every time, but we were barely able to work on it anyway, so we didn't bother disputing it.

Though she claims to be married herself, Hildr developed a crush on Chris. Apparently, he rejected her advances and told her he loved our Dev, naively assuming this would make Hildr go away. Alas, this chick was so enraged by the revelation that she hunted down Chris' real-life wife online and exposed the emotional affair to her, and guess what? The wife wasn't happy to learn that her husband had been talking with some woman on the Internet. Of course, Chris did the predictable thing and broke off from the mod under the pretense of "repairing his marriage," which is exactly what you'd expect of a two-timing husband. He manipulated our Dev for months and sabotaged this mod through his unprofessionalism, on top of all the legal crap.

Cancellation.PNG

And this is what gets to me. We asked Katie (Mara), if we could find a new Dev team to finish the mod, given that both of them quit. Katie's response was "well, this just happens sometimes. Mods get cancelled all of the time."

They pinned the cancellation on our lady Dev in this announcement when it had almost nothing to do with her. It wasn't her decision to cancel, it was a direct result of Katie not caring about the very thing that made her famous. This is the mod that got her on the map. This is the only mod she is known for, yet she couldn't bother to be honest about what actually transpired. Sure, you don't jeopardize a case by divulging key details, but she didn't have to let all the blame fall to our Dev. As a result, she took the brunt of the abuse and death threats from rabid fans.

Katie (Mara Lightfeather) SRM Trivia Section

I want to take a moment to talk about this bitch who'd absolutely be a lolcow if not for her obsession with secrecy. This segment may only be interesting to you if you know about the Skyrim Romance mod at all, or you've played it.

Katie is in her thirties, probably nearing forties now. She has been working on a new romance mod for a side character no one liked for the last fifty fucking years with virtually no updates for the fans. She is notoriously difficult to work with.

Oblivion.PNGIncompatibility.PNG

In Skyrim Romance, there is a gaudy ballroom scene that has unoptimized textures, Nutcracker music, and a billion pointless NPCs in it who all have unique voiced dialogue. If you can get through this unskippable scene without crashing, you're lucky. According to Chris, there was one NPC in this ballroom who had children's eyebrows for some reason and this went unchecked for years, which cased most of the crashes.

Everyone thinks this ballroom's kind of awful, but I learned that even the old team didn't like it either. They asked Mara to choose different music that doesn't sound like cheap, public domain garbage (and already has such a strong association with something else). She held her ground. "No, it has to be waltz music." Which, I don't know, it still could've been swapped out with something more fitting.

The female NPC who weds you to Bishop (if you get that far) is voiced by Mara, fun fact, and the voice-acting's not good.

Also, Bishop's character in the mod is designed to be this brooding, closed-off loner who's sexy and fierce, but he comes off like a little boy with crippling mommy and daddy issues. He is rapey in a lot of his "intense" scenes, screaming at the player to get in bed with him, yada-yada. In all fairness to River, he said he had no idea where those lines were gonna go until Mara released the mod. He was abhorred when he saw the context it was in. I cannot find video or audio of the scene I'm thinking of, but it's jarring even for people with strong stomachs.

Here's the weird part, though. Despite Bishop's blatant proclivities toward sex, rough and forceful sex, Mara's lore for him is that he's a virgin. I'm dead-serious.

Why, you ask? Because Katie is a self-professed Christian and doesn't believe in premarital sex.

Okay, but why is he so vulgar then? Why is he a drunk? Why does he come onto the player this hard? Does his virginal status make it more special? Ideally, it would, but he's hardly a pure person so it doesn't make sense.

See, Mara integrated all these weird ideas based on her inconsistent and deeply-unrelatable fantasies. This mod wasn't intended for other people, it was intended for her. It's as bad as those tweens who post their boring smut despite it having no entertainment value to anyone other than themselves. If you enjoy cringe I'd recommend giving this mod a go. If you're not dying by the infamous bard scene, you might have no soul.

I needed to get this off my chest 'cause it's been grueling carrying this information around for so long. This update was not cancelled for the bullshit reasons they stated, it was cancelled for completely different bullshit reasons. The fans, psychotic as they are, deserve to know what actually happened and not be fed lazy lies. Innocent parties shouldn't have been thrown under the bus.

Actual reason the update was cancelled: some fans thought it would be cute to defame the voice actor, and because Mara doesn't give a fuck about you. I wouldn't be surprised if she despised you for enjoying the very thing she created.

You know I've played that Skyrim Romance Mod, it is shit. I also don't like how people tend to settle into two camps over it, the women who feel the need to defend it because it's like the only bastion against straight male-dominated modding (fuck off lol) or the women who pussyfoot around it because they don't want to be mean. No, just say it's absolute dogshit. It's bottom-the-barrel writing that stank like 'middle aged wine aunt still hung up on being prom queen' combined with severe project management issues with a team more concerned about promotion and marketing (read: all the fancy websites) than making a good fucking mod. I'm not suprised at all that it was a failure from its conception because the team started with eight fucking writers.

Edit:
I'm free tonight and I always love the kind of shitfest that deserves to go to Beauty Parlour, I want to rip into this.
If you seek out any major project worth its salt that's looking for writers, chances are if they're good they will ask for examples of your previous work. Writing for games is not the same as writing for a novel, having a few non-proofread fanfics under your belt that were written entirely in your spare time just doesn't compare.

I could tell.

She's a 30+ year old woman with ice blue crazy eyes and her cleavage out in her YouTube thumbnails, scamming tens of thousands, all to make her video game fanfiction in another video game, that's some cow-tier shit.
The female NPC who weds you to Bishop is voiced by Mara, fun fact, and the voice-acting's not so good. I don't know if this is common knowledge or not.
lol no. I'm just some random person but I could tell it was a trash fire from a mile away, the kind that I can't really describe other than Beauty Parlour-flavoured milk with a lil mid 2000's fangirl drama sprinkled in; that's probably why it's never been 'cancelled', because the modding community ignores it in favour of mod authors sperging out on copyright/political drama. I'm personally glad you posted this here because this garbage doesn't get enough exposure, it's nice to see someone actually confirm how mismanaged it really was.

@eDove did you join this project before or after novajam's video on it, and have you ever seen that?

@eDove did you join this project before or after novajam's video on it, and have you ever seen that?
You're 100% correct in everything you said. You see through the ulterior motives, and how the methods of production were so flawed, it was doomed. I can't think of one good story that had more than three writers working at the helm. It certainly radiates BP energy.

Mara had a propensity to "hire" girls she was friends with, which is why, I think, women tend to make lousy leaders. It was always about emotions with her. You can feel the collective misery wafting from the mod as you play it as its being pulled in eight different directions. That process was repeated when I came onto the scene because Iris, albeit much easier to work with, thought that was how writing was supposed to be done.

I haven't seen Novajam's video, but I'll give it a watch. Finding good videos ripping on this mod is kind of tricky. It's kind of like finding a good one that rip on Fifty Shades of Grey. A lot of YouTubers get super moralfaggy about the rape/abuse, blah, blah, blah, and won't shut up about it, when the real problem for me is that the writing SUCKS. The writing sucks so bad in both of these stories that harping on the abuse is pointless. Of course, romances written by retarded old fat bitches are going to be terrible. Many of them haven't evolved past the edgy-teen stage of their sexuality. They wrote Bishop like that, not because they wanted to write a neurotic, abusive prick, but because that's what they honestly find kind of character sexy and/or complex. They simply don't know how to write a multi-faceted man because they've never been wooed by one IRL.

I joined in June of 2020. I still have the audition sheet and I also have a couple of… um, awful auditions sent in that were shared with me. I held onto them for my reading pleasure.

QUESTIONS:

What is your availability to work on this project? a few hours a day, during the day even sundays and saturdays. Also for as long as I can without too much hassle.

How did you hear about this project? A posted shout in Discord on the SRM chat.

What is about SRM that drew your interest? I have been with SRM since the beginning and the thought of having more in skyrim as for romance is what drew me in.

Why do you want to join this project? I love to write and hopefully I can contribute to the community, a community who has been there for me on countless occasions without judgement and such.

What do you feel is your strong suit in writing? (Character dialogue, books, notes, etc) Character Dialogue and some notes.

What is your experience in writing? I write countless fan fictions, I have 2 poems published somewhere in an Ametuer Anthology, I took Creative Writing at Vo-Tech.

(Please note this is a scenario based thing I realize, but my character is an angry woman and has her reasons, I know that this is only a means to see how we write. For me this is what I see if this kind of scenario were to happen as it is how my perception of this certain scenario would go and end. But not all would end in such a way. thank you.)

Give us a small example of your writing style using the scenario prompt below. This scene doesn’t need to be more than 3-5 paragraphs. Include banter/ interactions between the player and Bishop. Have fun!

Scenario:

Bishop has just joined you in fighting off a dragon. Write a small scene of interactions between the Ranger and your character. Is Bishop angry, is he worried, is he annoyed with the DB? Is she?

Bishop: "Watch out Princess, He's coming about for another round."

DB (Corzali): "SHUT it Ranger, I know what the hell I've been doing this longer than you have, Bastard."

Bishop: "Sometimes you can be so infuriating Wench, Why do I even bother with you?"

DB (Corzali): "Cause you're a fool Bishop, I never asked you to join me in fighting dragons, NOT once, and yet here you are. OH and if you ever call me a wench again Bishop I will remove your tongue from your head."

"Bishop: "You just try it Ladyship and I will bend you over my knee."

__________________________________________________________________________

Scenario:

Bishop and the player are having some downtime after your scenario with the dragon attack after setting up your camp.

Bishop: So, Ladyship, got anything particular on your mind? I can hear the gears turning from here.

1.) PC: I was just thinking about the fight we had with the dragon. Are you alright?
2.) PC: I was recalling how without me that dragon would have turned you into lunch.
3.) PC: Next time we fight a dragon, stay out of my way. I’m the dragonborn, remember?

[audition start]

1.) Bishop: "Are you okay Ladyship, you seem to be elsewhere right now? anything I can do?"
2.) Bishop: "What's in that head of yours Ladyship? Are you sure there is no fur growing in there."
3.) Bishop: "Why don't you join me in my bedroll tonight Princess? we could have some fun."

1.) PC: "I am fine Bishop, stay away from me, you damn near got me killed you fool."
2.) PC: "You make one more comment like that Ranger and you won't live to see the sunrise"
3.) PC: "HA! I really don't think so Bishop, I am not that kind of girl, besides your not my type."

1.) Bishop: “I will have you Ladyship, even if I have to take you by force I will have you.”
2.) Bishop: “You do not have the intelligence to kill me Ladyship, even if you did You need me.”
3.) Bishop: “Now get your fine ass over here ladyship and keep me warm while I show you what I am made of.”

1.) PC: “You even think about it Bishop, I will kill you, make no mistake.”
2.) PC: “Yeah Like I need a hole in the head Bishop, and never insult my intelligence again Bastard.”
3.) PC: *Gives bishop the finger* “Screw you Bishop, not even if you were the last Nord on Nirn. Fuck off!”

1.) Bishop: "I said get over here now Princess, Or I will make you come over here."
2.) Bishop: *Bishop rises and walks to you* "I said get over here NOW I will not say it again Princess."
3.) Bishop: "Princess, you really would kill me wouldn't you? What has made you so distrusting of men?"

1.) PC: *Cocks a brow* "You really think so? go ahead and fucking try it Bishop Laurence and I will plant you in a dirt mound grave in Falkreath."
2.) PC: *Takes a defensive stance* "Bishop this is not a path you wish to walk down, Back off now and you might live to see another day."
3.) PC: "Aye, I would in a heartbeat Bishop. Bishop my distrust comes from being enslaved and raped by a Master Vampire, please leave it alone, this conversation is over."

Mara had long abandoned the project as she's obsessed with making a "Cael" romance mod next. That mod has been in production for what seems like a decade. If Mara was at the helm of this project, I don't think I wouldn't have been able to stay for as long as I did. Cael is a lame, whispery MF who I don't think had any fan appeal, yet she has a weird boner for him that won't die. Again, it's another project centered around her specific fantasies that she probably has 19 writers working on. You're required to run into him to progress Bishop's romance.

When they were writing Cael into mod, it was being done by another female writer who desperately wanted Cael to have the spotlight, in someone else's mod. The "argument" Bishop has with this dude consists of live retorts two writers came up with as they wrote together in the same script. This kind of bad energy shouldn't have been in the production at all. You shouldn't have to feel like your work is being hijacked by someone else. And if you're an outsider to the work, you shouldn't try to steamroll its characters with your own.

I was so bummed by the quality of this mod that I wanted to make it better. I wanted to make the MC strong and truly lovable, and we made it so much better, almost excellent, but now it won't exist because for the stupidest reasons. Maybe it was a waste of time to try to fix something so broken.

@eDove gonna have to @ you because I can't hover over and quote for some reason.
I think, women tend to make lousy leaders.
Not a single one of these people could lead, that much is true. I think part of that is not being able to call people out on their bullshit, again, for fear of offending people and upsetting their feelings. It's the downside to prioritizing peace keeping over getting shit done.
I haven't seen Novajam's video, but I'll give it a watch.
That thing is like six years old now. It's how I came to know about the mod, it looked like the kind of bad that's entertaining to mock so, well, I played it - but only after torturing myself with that dozen-page long, confusing Google Docs they used to link as an 'installation guide'.
I hated that ballroom section too by the way, after sitting through the scripted scenes I didn't know where to go or felt things would progress (if I was supposed to transition away from that area, there was nothing to direct me) so I pillaged and looted the place. Got a bounty that nobody reacted to.
I joined in June of 2020.
How the fuck is this still getting volunteers as late as the year of the coof? This project asking for $50,000 (not $32,000) was known as early as 2015 as archived here which even acknowledges the scandal. I don't know how SkyrimTogether got such a (deserved) grilling for its Patreon and code theft but hardly anyone finds this notable. The last time I checked on SRM was in 2019 and it seemed like all they did throughout the years was burn through gullible volunteers with only fancy new websites to show for it. Any project of that scale and age with 0 substantial updates is glowing with red flags and unwitting fangirls should be taught how to see it before they waste their time like you did.

Looks like she switched husbandos. Seriously, I remember Skyrim Romance implied all three 'routes' would be playable, then I figured out for myself this was not in fact a quest with multiple endings and got the impression that the other characters were to be added later but still considered part of the same product - until they rebranded everything with Bishop's name. Not that I'd trust what Mara says anyway because you don't ask for $50k in donations to make a mod without checking the TOS unless you're illiterate, extremely arrogant, or desperate to make a buck. Now SRM looks to be run by a skeleton crew while Mara fucks around making her next abortion.

I'm looking at their website now, why do all the links lead to a 404? Is someone on a DELETE FUCKING EVERYTHING spree? (fucking lol they're affiliated with Anna NPCs?)

Now what I'm curious about is why you felt so emotionally invested in it despite the fact you knew it was shit in the five-ish years of its existence.

Haha, well, I think their websites have always been broken. They might've gone into "shut it down!" mode, but it's not like the website ever ran that well. I reckon it has little traffic on it, yet it's slow as shit.

As for my investment, I auditioned thinking nothing would happen. When I was quickly ushered in, I saw the opportunity to make the mod halfway playable. Mara handed the mod down to someone else and said "do whatever you want with it" which was a good sign. Garbage dialogue isn't sexy, nor are grammatical errors, and since the mod's intention was to be sexy, someone had to clean it up. I wrote a lot, but I ended up relegating myself to an editor and that's what people relied on me for. Unfortunately, Iris would send off documents to be recorded as quickly as possible, sometimes without asking if it's finished.

I say there was one other good writer, but she was pretty stiff and verbose when it came to dialogue. For example, she wrote an optional conversation where BIshop explains the delicate balance of the forest's ecosystem. The lines that are crossed out are hers with my suggested edits being in green.

And she was the good writer. She was intelligent. None of the others were.

To answer your question plainly, I think the experience turned me into a control freak. When I looked away for one second, someone would write something abysmal and it got to a point where it felt as though the quality hinged on me. This writer and I were the only ones left in end because we took our craft seriously. If it had just been her and I since the beginning, it would've been smooth-sailing.

It's kind of like setting up a surprise birthday party for someone while you have 5+ people running around who think they're professional party planners, shitting up the decorations. It wasn't so much that I wanted this mod to be decent for myself, I wanted it to be decent for the people who'd play it. I had them in mind the whole time I was working on this. I barely thought of even playing it myself.

You can get a lot more done with a couple of competent people than a smorgasbord of mediocre people. SRM doesn't understand this, or maybe they do, the environment's just so toxic that it drives competent people away. Mara has such a stronghold over her creative vision that she cannot take criticism of any kind, and the people she frequents with are the same exact way. I hear she doesn't like you unless you're kissing her ass.

In conversations that I personally saw (don't have screenshots, unfortunately), she prided herself in being a tough, no-nonsense leader who isn't afraid to tell her contributors off or hurt their feelings. Meanwhile, she will have a meltdown if you suggest any changes.

But yeah, Bishop's a dead mod. Mara's indeed latched onto a different husbando with about the same fervor as a tween. I get moving on and finding your newer characters more interesting, but this was irresponsibly handled. If a type of character isn't doing it for her anymore, she'll drop him and move onto the next, regardless of the fans she culminated.

@eDove A few months back, I downloaded the Skyrim Romance Mod just to get a taste of how truly cringe the writing was. I knew it was fucking horrible based on reviews, but I can't help but feel bad for the VA's who were payed to do this.

Given that most of these women literally seem to have never had a real relationship with someone or something that wasn't battery controlled and banana shaped, It's not hard for me to see why their "romance" mod never worked out. Every character made me cringe horribly. Not in a funny way, in a "Wow, if I met any of these men irl I think I would blow a rape whistle."

You did the right thing by leaving and I hope you find peace after dealing with these cows.

I don't know how an entire niche of women can recognise SRM is bad yet attribute it from a feminist perspective down to a fictional character being rapey - and not the entire team of other women responsible for it led by the lolcowish woman at the top. No, it isn't triggering and hardly upsetting when a Skyrim NPC e-molests you through the subtitles and SexLab jank, it's hilarious. Just strip him with console commands and shout him off a cliff. They end up directing their outrage/criticism at Bishop, who's not real, and wasting their time instead of gathering threadworthy material which only eDove has come an exposed in the entire 6 years that it's existed. The last rumblings about SRM before eDove's screencaps was on Reddit a while ago which amounted to nothing because it was yet another lone defector crying how shitty the team was without exposing anything. If there's anything cattish receipt-collecting is good for, it would've been this mod team.

Well, you're gonna love this part... none of the VAs were ever paid. Period. Once Katie got all of that backlash for her idiotic kickstarter, she shied away from finding any means of paying her devs, writers, voice actors, so on. The backlash was so bad that Iris was terrified of setting up donations when I suggested it to her. I do feel sort of bad for River (the actor) because this mod and its fanbase is such a stain. Also, he was the only good voice actor in the whole damn mod, so I'm biased toward him. He's a really nice guy too.

Most of the "cows" were gone early on into the project. Xiderpunk, Chris, is an asshole. His love for our Dev was so instantaneous that I just have to assume he was doing it for nudes, the thrill, or something.

You're right about these women not having any relationships. It was pretty frustrating in the beginning because I wanted to communicate with our writers voice-to-voice and the Dev, kept telling me "oh, well, a lot of them are too shy to talk." You'd think open communication would be a prerequisite for a mod like this, but she learned a lot of bad methods from being trapped in Katie's created Hell for a decade or so.

Thank you for hitting the nail on the head. You have to remember that the type of girls who obsess over SRM take fictional characters too seriously, so much so that they treat the characters like they're autonomous and real. It's Chris-Chan levels of lunacy, or maybe just Tumblr-tier lunacy. Bishop's problem isn't that he's an immature rapist, it's that he was written by weird shut-in women who hate other women. You can just feel the unhappiness oozing off the mod as you play it.

I'm not surprised that alleged contributors bitched about this mod and gave no more info. When you're in an all-female team, the professionalism disintegrates as you make friends, stupid cliques and inner-circles form, the gossip is ENDLESS. I'm the type of person who plays all sides though, I think that's why I was there 'til the end. As bloated as SRM's staff tends to be, women naturally become close to one another while working on stuff. The fake niceness/compliments abound, and if anything goes wrong, everyone turns on each other like a pack of rabid wolves. If anyone of them find this post, they'll know who I am in a split-second and there'll be stupid fucking melodrama on my end. Admittedly, I was apprehensive to make that initial post because tensions can get bad so fast.

Also, Null once famously said in his Amberlynn stream that "women can't archive shit" and that might have to do with why there're no receipts in most cases. Katie, I think, intentionally preys on naïve girls who she believes will do everything she says. Most of these girls aren't cynical enough to build up a blackmailing-portfolio on their "friends" while working on the mod together. So, when things go badly, they have only stories to tell. I don't delete any chats, no matter how poisonous the memories are.

Crazy to think we’ve hit the 10 year mark.

It’s good to have receipts even in the professional world. Especially if someone is clearly lying repeatedly.

Late as fuck, but... how many people working on that romance mod had actually PLAYED NWN2? Because I have. Several times. Bishop wasn't just a bad boy for women with daddy issues to get wet over, he actually had a rather distinct personality, especially as the only truly evil member of your party. (Yes, there was also Ammon Jerro, but he was... an anamoly.) Bishop was ALSO an abrasive asshole, but he had a particular worldview about survival of the fittest, about absolute freedom, about bowing to no one, even if it cost him his soul. He was one of the more interesting characters in NWN2.

I don't see any of that in the writing here. He's just a generic handsome bad boy asshole.

Not sure if this is the right thread but anyone got a link to the Unofficial Skyrim patch with all the Arthmoor bullshit removed? I remember it being posted on reddit but fuck actually using reddit.
