Something stinks here…

What I will say is the show did for whatever ungodly reason attract Tumblr freaks which was super funny to me knowing Zachs real opinion on people like that.
They just cope that "It's all satire dood, it's making fun of all the chuds and they don't even know!" Same people will insist that Space King is making fun of 40K fans who actually give a shit about the universe when Flashgitz have outright stated that it isn't.
Basically the Tumblr crowd will like something but also they aren't allowed to like something if the creator isn't a big wholesome chungus so they'll project whatever they need onto something to make it fit in their worldview.

I'm a little surprised they're ending it so soon. The breakneck pace and 10 minute episode length felt like a formula that wouldn't grow stale after just three seasons, but I suppose I'd rather they go out on top as opposed to two seasons of half-assed or difficult production. I wonder if the Tumblr-esque fanbase had any impact on their decision.

Sad to see, but I can understand their reasonings. Its better to have a great series than it puttering out on fumes like Simpsons has done. Plus despite being short I feel like the show was condensed enough to account for that.

Smiling friends was an 11 minute show that ran for 3 seasons. I don't know if we'll ever get the real reason Zach and Michael decided to end it, but wasn't because the show had overstayed its welcome. Mike doesn't seem burnt out enough to stop producing Koala Man, or YOLO Crystal Fantasy for Hulu, while also making new Damo and Darren content on his YT channel. The sudden-ness of this announcement, after they had already agreed to two more seasons, makes this all come across as suspect.

You just know the real reason is Marc M doesn't want to do it any more.

It was a good run, but to say they ended it at peak is a bit of a pat on their own backs. It's no season 4 of venture bros good.

Genuinely devastated, literally the only show I've look forward to watching in years. I get not wanting to get stale but the world and characters feel like they've only scratched the surface of what they could do. Fuck your artistry I would be happy with over the hill smiling friends because it'll still be better then 99% of shit on television.
It genuinely feels like they've pyched them self out in the fear of it becoming "zombie smiling friends" despite season 3 being as great as the others. It's a fucking mind poison that every show in existence faces and needs to be ignored. Shows like Rick and Marty didn't get suddenly bad for no reason its because they changes the entire writing team and the creator had an autistic meltdown. If they genuinely feel like they can't control it any longer or doing more would put adult swim into a position to control it and milk it's probably the right move but I still not happy about it.
Whatever they do next I'll be there to watch it minute one.

Still nowhere near as painful as Moral Orel and Venture Bros cancellations.

And Xavier Renegade Angel and Shivering Truth etc.

At least there's sleepy cabin and oneyplays for the newfags freaking out, most of the jokes in smiling friends are accumulated jokes and bits from those.
