Sony hate thread

Though we're not completely out of the woods, with how consoles don't have the problem of shitty launchers and storefront exclusivity. Wanna play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2? All the consoles have it on both disc and digital, but PC? It's in EGS jail, and it was never cracked. The best way to play that game on PC is via a Switch emulator. That's ghetto, but at least it's an option. It is straight up retarded to keep a PC version of a game on a single launcher, especially long after any exclusivity deals have ended, yet here we are.
You forgot Kingdom Hearts. All those games are still locked up in the Epic Scam Store jail, tho redditors keep believing that the reason why those games still aren't on Steam yet is because Valve and Square Enix want to make all of the games in the collection (at least six games and three or four movies marketed as "games") Steam Deck verified.

I’m tempted to rate this as Dumb, but a small part of me fears that you’re not exaggerating.

>he doesn’t have his PC plugged into both monitor and TV so he can swap between them with a hotkey on his handheld keyboard
Most people don't have a dedicated gaming PC just for the TV?
They sound poor.

You've never heard a die hard console fanboy say "It's too much of a hassle/difficult to assemble a PC!" before?

It's always that, the "plug and play" aspect or the "I like to play on my couch" aspect from my experience because for some reason they can't figure out how to plug a PC into a television or something.
Ah, I see what you mean. Better comparison, then: PS5 already lets you swap out the SSD, and I can’t imagine a detachable disc drive would be more complicated than that if it’s a cornerstone of the new model’s design. Probably just “unscrew these four screws then insert the drive into the designated slot like a cartridge”. And if that’s too complicated, then oh boy.

Oh, I'm sure it won't be complicated. After all, a PS5 owner needs to be able to do it.

I'm just saying it's another one of those weird reasons they give that's just bullshit.

Sounds like a redditor take alright

Man, those faggots are so retarded. If you took one of those games and made them playable on Steam Deck yourself,, Valve might hire you.

This This This

The three people I know who own a PS5 only own Modern Warfare II and GTA V for it. One of them also bought Hogwarts Legacy. They owned PS4's before this and when I asked why they bought the PS5 when they could just play these games on PS4 they said because they needed it in 4K. Two of them don't even own 4K TVs.

NONE of them have played any of those games all summer. Yet every night without fail all three have to post a story to all of their social medias of their PS5 and how they are streaming a movie or TV show on it.

Interesting notes is that none of them had a father in their life growing up.

It really isn't a joke. PS5 is for retards and fatherless people.
The PS5 is effectively the game console equivalent of the latest Macbook or iPhone

Of course I'm basing this on shit millenials told me. I'm sure today Zoomers can't even figure out how to use a PC thanks to their crippling phone addictions.
But the "plug & play" aspect still exist on consoles though? At least with my Switch.
The aspect is about just needing the console, at least one controller, and nothing else in terms of setup, and a very small amount of troubleshooting. It's about the ease of use. The sole PC hardware that is remotely close to this experience is the Steam Deck, and that's because it's built to use the Steam Picture from the get-go upon boot. Unlike the Switch however, things can be unstable on the Deck when alternating between dock & portable modes, and the sleep function can screw up certain PC games, to the point a reboot may be needed.

Assembling a personal computer and finding the proper parts can be hard too, especially for a first-timer, anyone claiming otherwise is rather dishonest. The last time I built a PC (just before the meme coof), I had to be up-to-date on the components as my previous knowledge dated from 2014-2015. Took me a full week at minimum to know (and be humble with) what I really needed, the AMD Ryzen Gen 2 motherboard was the hardest pick on a reliability criteria. Again, the Steam Deck circumvents that problem which is a good thing.

You can't simply expect people to be knowledgeable/skilled in everything, as they instead focus on their own specific fields.
Otherwise I'm sure nobody here would have issues in learning the Japanese language, to get past localization hijinks for instance.

Maybe for Switch, but for Playstation and Xbox? lol?

It hasn't been that way since the days of the PS2. You have to set up an account, constantly deal with system and game updates.

There is no such thing as "plug and play" anymore.

It really isn't that hard if you know how to watch a video and use google. Also pcpartpicker.com is a thing.

But that's why I say it's for retards and niggercattle. You're right, I can't expect them to be able to read, watch videos and insert things into labeled sockets.

And it's ironic considering Sony themselves have made their own laptops and phones, so there is no point of Sony to turn their consoles into laptops and phones. Remember when they used to have the Viao laptops until 2014 when they only had like 5% shares of it? Or how about their Sony Mobile, which they stopped making these in 2021?

It's more like an Apple TV than anything else.

As for their laptops and phones, VAIO was spun off into an independent company that Sony has a minority stake in, and still manufactures laptops. Sony themselves still manufacture phones, at least under the Xperia line, and they're actually pretty decent. I switched to one when LG stopped making phones, and I'm fairly happy with it.

Consoles are just very simple of use, doesn't require much tech knowledge to pick up parts (since the console is already ready to use after purchase) and setup on a first boot. There is little to no troubleshooting either, and eventual updates are pretty much handed to the user which makes the whole thing mainly hassle-free. The average person won't go through a lot of learning process in PC building (they may likely have bigger fishes to fry too, in their own fields of expertise) when something simpler is available to do the exact same task out-of-the-box, as in playing the games personally wanted.

The Steam Deck does circumvent a lot of problems that was surrounding PC gaming as something pretty hard to approach for the less initiated, in addition to be rather cheap with the base model. I went ahead with the 512GB/anti-mat screen unit though, because I'm not personally confident to change internal parts in portable devices. Yeah there are Internet guides for replacing the default SSD, which can save up a bit of money too, but sometimes I can fit the description of the people you complain about when it comes to unfamiliar things too.

And if I were to be honest, desktop PCs for the dedicated purpose of gaming aren't my thing anymore. I'm fairly satisfied with both the Switch and Steam Deck, and I'm certain their successors will continue to meet my vidya tastes, while it will save me the trouble to redo researches on separate computer parts and re-building something. It's also hard to live without the benefits (2-devices-in-one) that the hybrid format offers now, considering the tech wasn't exactly there (and as seamless) until recently.

Basically, consoles will continue to be a popular thing as long as they remain simple of use.
It's just harder to justify a PS5 when vidya devs continue to drag their heels on PS4 game development even into 2024. Or when the Switch has already a wide and strong library, especially for anything japanese & indie (which decreased the reasons to own a PS console in Japan), in spite of the lower specs.
The shitty economy hitting everywhere, and the console being hard-to-get for the first two years, certainly didn't help Sony's case either.
