I've been thinking on this and decided to refresh my knowledge on the subject.
The government of Turkana IV destabilized leading to the outbreak of civil war. They then gave police powers to the 2 largest factions in an attempt to keep the peace, but they were soon overthrown by said factions.

The legitimate Federation government of Turkana IV was overthrown by violent criminal organizations that turned the planet into a cesspool of violence and gang rape. Thus their independence should not be recognized and the Federation should have launched an invasion to take these factions from power and reestablish order.
Wow, TNG literally did predict CHAZ.

I bet the Romulans were behind it.

I remember there is another ST (not sure if it's TNG) episode when some Fed representative gave weapons to the two factions too keep them even and it also backfired.

Guys, I think it's not working.

The Omega Glory? Where Kirk reads cavemen the Constitution?

Nope, I was wrong. It's A Private Little War.
While Kirk did give those alien peaceniks weapons in A Private Little War, I think the episode you're both thinking of is Too Short a Season, which was being discussed a few pages ago. An episode with decent potential, but it was wasted thanks to them focusing too much on the youth serum subplot, and not really doing anything with the whole debate about arming both sides beyond having Picard say "Hey, just because that guy gave you both weapons didn't mean you actually had to use them!" at the end.

The youth serum bugs me for one damn good reason. If that shit exists then why the fuck would a bunch of badmirals try to take that one planet in Insurrection? Just go get some of that serum, you lazy old shits.

They all look fine, but they all also look like they are there because they know otherwise Star Trek is about to go down like the Titanic... I mean, this is the closest we have to make someone sick rise from their bed to do something others simply can't.

Then, he's looking fine.
Marina Sirtis looks like she's wearing someone's face.
This trailer reminds me of the later TOS movies where the actors were way too old and fat to play their characters.

You mean, like they are right now? I'd bet hard cash Jonathan Frakes is wearing a girdle.

Have you ever seen good lip injections / fillers? Call me a h8r but I think maybe 10% look good. The others look like they are having a permanent allergic reaction.

I think white women in general have a complex about their lips, and now all of them have a really skewed idea of what faces should look like.
I expected worse, to be fair it's a bit more acceptable to get some work done because of age (some people can develop quite weird), not the usual porn starlet I WANT DICK SUCKING LIPS THAT MAKE ME LOOK LIKE A MOTORBOAT retardation ruining a perfectly good face.

Meanwhile, Dorn looks like Ghandi.
I wouldn't know it was Worf unless you told me. They just somehow really didn't get the makeup and prosthetics right in a way I can't quite explain.

They shouldn't have changed the parted stache either. He just doesn't look like Worf to me.

The original prosthetic is probably long gone, to be fair. Didn't they auction everything off after season 7?

Gene Roddenberry was kind of infamous about that kind of stuff.

Like really think about the crystaline entity for a moment. Imagine jewelry Galactus for a minute, flying around the galaxy, consuming entire worlds as it wills.

You really telling me that something like that would NOT freak out the Romulans or the Klingons or the Dominion? That they wouldn't have entire fleets ready to fire on the thing as soon as it was spotted within their territory? (Heck could you imagine if the Borg had an assimilation project for it?)

NOPE! Doesn't matter! Flying crystal, lawz!

Heck as pointed out earlier in this thread, there was the Eugenics war and then the Federation went and did more eugenics experiments on a satellite anyway, accidentally creating an aging virus. (why not use the youth serum to cure Pulaski in that episode?)

Easily 1/3rd of all the stuff Kirk & co encounter in their show would have revolutionized society, science, and more - but we're going to ignore that.

It's sometimes part of the charm of the show.

The amount of seethe that Shatner seems to generate in some people for being an unapologetically straight white guy that refuses to die never ceases to amaze

Looks like his forehead ridges are less prominent now. His face seems a little more gaunt too, not necessarily a bad thing I mean he is older now anyways. But ya that mustache shouldn't have been changed looks like a klingon fu manchu.

I hate William Shatner and hope he dies a painful, old man's death because he was mean and wilfully ignorant toward Mike Stoklasa.
Nothing Shatner could say to Mike would be more damaging to his soul than the fact he lives in Wisconsin.

It's also an unnaturally bright white, making it look artificial and flat, like it was done on a shoestring budget at the last minute. A lot of Picard's aesthetic has a similar feeling about it, IMO.

Ya I was wondering about that too, doesn't seem like Worf would've gone all white by the time Picard takes place. I was thinking he would be more salt-and-pepper.
