Eddington was a Section 31 plant that the Federation used to promote a proxy war with the Cardassians while giving the diplomats like Picard plausable deniability.

Giving territory back to the Cardassians was a clever way to get colonies of trained, hardened terrorists within Caradassian territory.
Except Sisko was pretty mad that all those colonists were killed by the Dominion. That, and Nechayev made it pretty clear that the Maquis were NOT acting in the Federation's interests, especially when the Maquis either sabotage Fed ships or hijack them.

To be fair to the Fed, the colony did declare independence. Would be kinda fucked up not to let them. If the colony decided to ask for Federation help, they'd likely provide it. But keep in mind the people on Tasha Yar's planet outright told the Federation that anyone beaming down would be killed on sight. So what exactly could they do in this situation that wouldn't be taking a massive steaming shit on people's right to self governance?
I doubt that the weapons the colonists had could match anything that a Federation rescue team would bring.

I understand that the colony considered themselves independent, but I am sure many people who were being killed and raped didn't agree and would have wanted to be rescued, like Tasha herself. We really don't know much about the politics of this one specific colony, but it's likely not everybody was on board. So, what happens with the people who were basically kidnapped by a self-appointed government or a terrorist group? Do they lose their rights as federations citizens?

It was a CHAZ. The Feds just didn't care.

TBF, the idea of the TNG crew having a reunion is cringe no matter what. It wasn't even working all that well back in Nemesis.
Seeing them all together like this brings about the sad realization that the last time Paramount did anything worth a damn with these characters was all the way back with First Contact (with the obvious exception of Worf on DS9, and arguably Troi's appearances on Voyager).

https://youtube.com/watch?v=tKvMgjb4U4Y New season 3 trailer of picard just dropped.

Dorn looks great. Gates Mcfaddon looks smokin. They should have done this shit from the beginning.

Is it the same writer or did they get anybody new? I know it will probably shit, but im wondering if it will be bearable if we pretend s1 and 2 didsnt happen.
Gates McFadden looks like she's had her lips replaced with pink slugs and the moody lighting does nothing to hide it. She looks like a pouting duck. Why do these people ruin their faces with surgery?

They're putting nanites in our replicators that are turning the kids Borg! Don't you understand that!?

Since we never see jews in Star Fleet can we assume they're all in Section 31? It's the perfect place for them since they can't make money in the Federation.

Have you ever seen good lip injections / fillers? Call me a h8r but I think maybe 10% look good. The others look like they are having a permanent allergic reaction.

I think white women in general have a complex about their lips; now all of them have a really skewed idea of what faces should look like.
They put on plays like faggots and do some vidya on the holodeck.

They all look fine, but they all also look like they are there because they know otherwise Star Trek is about to go down like the Titanic... I mean, this is the closest we have to make someone sick rise from their bed to do something others simply can't.

Then, he's looking fine.

Since the Federation are pure evil and not worth saving, I wonder how virtuous and amazing the Klingon Empire has become under Grand Moff Worf.
Honestly, that'd be one of the less objectionable things they could do. At least it would be consistent with the closing episodes of DS9 implying that Martok was setting the Empire down a more honorable path.

Love how he tells the goldshirts to wait outside while he takes care of business.

That was one of @Elim Garak's most hammy moments.

I remember during the Dominion/Cardy attack on DS9, Garak had a moment with Odo talking about how everyone would regret that he never shot Dukat in the back when he had the chance.

Sometimes I wish they had a filmed a moment of Garak & Worf together in the heat of the war going, "you ever regret stopping me from blowing up the founders?"

Honestly, given everything we know about changelings wiping them out actually seems entirely reasonable. I highly doubt Odo is going to be able to convince them of anything. How did they describe changelings? The drop becomes the ocean, the ocean becomes the drop? He's a drop trying to convince the ocean. It's actually far more likely that they're going to convince him to become a genocidal xenophobic fascist than the other way around.

Plus they still have their homegrown murder machines and countless conquered worlds. The likelihood of a second was is actually far greater than the likelihood of there ever being peace.

Those "homegrown murder machines" were actually the biggest issue when it came to wiping out the Founders. As the Female Changeling pointed out when she was at death's door, the death of the Founders would probably cause the Jem'Hadar to go apeshit and slaughter everything in their path. Even if we presume they'd only carry on until they ran out of Ketracel White and died, that's still a hell of a lot of damage they could cause in the meantime.

Also consider that the Dominion probably only sent the equivalent of an expeditionary force to conquer the Alpha Quadrant. In their own quadrant, they didn't have to worry about wormhole logistics.

I've been thinking on this and decided to refresh my knowledge on the subject.
The government of Turkana IV destabilized leading to the outbreak of civil war. They then gave police powers to the 2 largest factions in an attempt to keep the peace, but they were soon overthrown by said factions.

The legitimate Federation government of Turkana IV was overthrown by violent criminal organizations that turned the planet into a cesspool of violence and gang rape. Thus their independence should not be recognized and the Federation should have launched an invasion to take these factions from power and reestablish order.
