It is funny sometimes to think about DS9 as if it were our world.

Like if Italy banned nukes from their borders.
"Sir, the Pope has acquired a nuclear weapon."
"I have no problem with this!"
It would have been cool, if there had been a two-parter court drama episode focusing entirely on Sisko's weird shenanigans, perhaps as a consequence of his involvement in Leyton's coup and the Maquis-business.

Season three is… It’s like late-period VOY, where everything is technically Star Trek but you can feel the writers skimming Memory Alpha. They wheel out the Borg again, this time they’re tag-teaming with the Changelings for reasons that absolutely do not matter. Every scene is shot in the dark to save on money. What is this, a radio play? I hate sounding like an old man but if I have to squint to figure out what's happening, I’m just going to nod off.
They missed the opportunity of having the crew enter the Enterprise-D bridge in NuTrek lighting and then Riker or someone going "I can't see a thing! Computer, turn on the lights"

Well we kind of got that with TNG's the Drumhead. I could understand the writers not wanting to retread that ground.

Would have been interesting had we got a bit of that, but put the trial on Bajor so then we also face the question of Sisko being a major religious figure.

What I don't get is how she got to lieutenant commander in the first place. She's the ship's counselor, yet she outranks the chief of security.
Time served.

On the other hand, it's not like they weren't willing to retread every other storyline in every new show.

And in that it seems like Worf takes command when Sisko goes down. (To be fair, Kira was taking care of Sisko.)

Anyone else think of any others?

I can’t remember the exact episode (I know it’s in season 5 somewhere because I watched it not too long ago) but when Sisko wasn’t on the station Kira was commanding the Defiant and Worf was commanding DS9. I’ve assumed that Worf commands whatever has the biggest guns at the time.

>tfw this is the kind of nonsense people expect from Janeway
>tfw this is the kind of bullshit why people shit on Janeway
>tfw people have gone to the space can over less
>tfw the entire senior staff of DS9 should be sitting in a Bajoran penal colony
>tfw the entire senior staff of DS9 should be handed to the Romulans to mine dilithium on Remus, after they're relased from Bajoran custody
> Sisko laughs in Emissary and the Bajorans do nothing, Kai Winn seethes and pours herself another glass of Franzia Spring Wine
> Sisko pimp slaps all members of the Federation tribunal, none dare stand up to Benjamin ‘Motherfuckin’’ Sisko

That I'll be curious to find since I don't recall any episode of Worf in command of the station but I could have missed it.

In "Call to Arms," Sisko is in command of the station and even there Dax is commanding the Defiant while Worf and Kira are on the station.

FTR, Troi was older than Worf at the beginning of TNG. She was 28 and he was 24. The enterprise was his first or second ship likely, while Deanna was already a psychologist for perhaps five years, even if she wasn't serving on a ship before. She didn't become a psychologist and joined Starfleet, she majored as such while in the academy. She definitely has more time serving than Worf and around the same time as Will. Annoying as she can be sometimes, she has earned that rank.

It's really is impressive how badly Discovery skull-fucks the lore of Star Trek. It really should be removed from Canon and retconned. Imagine the arrogance it takes for them to rename Vulcan and write The Burn. Yeah man, every warp core in the galaxy exploded and dilithium isnt used any more. That would cause the complete destruction of the Federation immediately. What a massive pile of retarded shit.

Wanna read an article by the most gigantic faggot imaginable?

On that note the most important question never answered by tng is whether picards fish had its own fish sized escape pod or did he just tell riker to carry the fish to his own escape pod in a plastic bag

If not, would the fish spend its final moments as the ship was exploding around it pounding on the glass of its aquarium and cursing picards name
I'd imagine O'Brien had some protocol where he beamed Livingston into whatever water-filled lifeboat situation the fucking dolphins had going on.

I like how he spends most of the article on discovery and barely mentions lower decks, because despite what he claims, it doesn't do the things he's glazing these shows for. The characters aren't particularly obsessive about sex or feelings, and it doesn't really go out of its way to ruin (sorry, recontextualise) existing canon, except to build off what's already there as story foundation. Meanwhile STD makes Voyager's "walking bags of hormones" (per Beltran) look positively restrained and its plots look like the writings of a genius, while also completely fucking over every single piece of established lore in order to give more space for its cast of emotionally stunted nitwits to cry about things.

As to renaming Vulcan, the name isn't only arrogant, it's uncreative. It's literally "Now It's Vulcans And Romulans".

(Obligatory Lower Decks isn't a great show but I like it anyway.)

They also had the balls to write an episode called "Unification, Part 3" with Spock's speech edited so that Burnham could be the hero.

meh STD was made by people who hated Star Trek and hated the fan base even more. It was specifically written to shit all over what the fans held dear and replace everyone important with yas black kween slay female jesus lady.

You can feel the spite and sheer joy at destroying the canon oozing out of the script in almost every episode. The writers are getting off knowing the rage they're causing.

Oh the fun side; who remember Brent Spiner before Data?

Oh God I miss the 80's sooooo much.

Oh I'm sure ST:A will bomb like nothing before it. The signs are all there.

But that won't matter, they will continue to crank out terrible Star Trek shows for the "modern" audience until they go bankrupt. It's not about the money, it's about sending the right message remember.
