Can we just get someone who acts like a professional just once? On a ship the captain isn't just hovering around the bridge waiting for something to happen. They have other duties as well. I hate this quirk chungus tumblr shit that has infected everything for the last decade. Have people behave seriously and competently. It raises the stakes and invests people.

Starfleet is still a military organization. Have them act like it.

Garrick is not gay

That's just some woke slur against a great character. The proggies just can't have two males be close friends without it being sexual somehow. All that does is show off their own issues and not the characters.

Bashir and Garrick are good friends, nothing more. All the "gay subtext" is just either thirsty fangurls or woke lefties trying once again to "ruin" something they hate.

Garrick is a great and interesting character, Bashir not so much. I often wonder why these types don't try to gay bond Bashir and O'Brian, who spend almost as much time together.

Oh, they do. Don't google it,
Remember the Odo/Quark slash art on Tumblr? I almost wish I'd saved some.

This is Kurtzman's final fuck you to the fans
People are now half-jokingly saying they wish Rick Berman would come back, which is a good index of how the bar keeps sinking.

Berman and Braga were hacks but at least their speech sounds human. Kurtzman delivers statements so obviously untrue that they sound like they’re being generated by a chatbot. “My future with Star Trek looks bright.” “David Ellison is a huge fan of Star Trek.” Then there’s the fact that he’s still rocking the same Simon Cowell haircut he had in '09, and he has not learned a single thing from all the jobs he has been fired from..... Calling him stupid feels generous.

I'm not completely turned off by SA. The premier seemed a little action-y, but maybe it will calm down for awhile, since it was the season opener. Certainly not the worst episode of Trek I've ever seen. (There were some pretty bad entries early on in just about every show, until it found its footing.)
ETA- "Victory is life!" And "Today is a good day to die!" do sound like opposing philosophies that when combined become self-defeating, but if the Jem'Hadar were going to procreate with any other species, I guess Klingon would be the closest race in a theological sense. Also, it's like Ms Frizzle got command of a space school. Not going to judge the captain based on one episode, but still.

At least the soul was still in the show when Berman was running things. I'd take him over Kurtzman anyday.

"Quark, you remember how I would interrogate for the Cardassians. Don't make me go back there/"

Aren't Jem'Hadar all clones, why is this one both a woman and fat? Does Starfleet Academy just have an all you can drink fountain of Ketracel White in the canteen?
The Dominion's last desperate attempt to destroy the Federation was to genetically engineer some fat black women and send 'em over
