Dude, Garm literally tells that to Han Solo in one of his conversations. He declined to join the Rebellion because they were hearing constant reports of Rebel bases being seized by the Empire. No, it wasn't. In Dark Force Rising, Bel Iblis' lieutenant Sena says it was because he thought Mon Mothma was going to do a Palpatine, that he and Bail Organa were losing prominence because she was a better politician, better at rallying support. It was partially an ego thing. Bel Iblis said he was better at military strategy and tactics. You give your spin on what he meant, which is incorrect. He did not say that the Rebellion was getting its butt kicked all over the place so he quit to do it on his own. When Thrawn attacks Coruscant and Drayson can't handle it, Leia begs Bel Iblis to take command, he refuses unless Mon Mothma talks to him. He explains why he misjudged Mon Mothma, but he has to hear from her personally that she truly trusts him. Mon Mothma then RKOs him outta nowhere, they settle their differences and Bel Iblis takes command of the defense of Coruscant. I can quote the relevant passages from DFR and also The Last Command
Not to mention that if the Empire were as paste-eating retarded as you make them out to be, then all the struggles the Rebels and the New Republic had against them make them look even worse than the Empire, that they literally have to be saved by plot devices like Luke's Force-sensitivity, Vader's last-minute defection, or Leia pulling the Nohgri to the NR side, for the Rebels/NR to win. At least me making the Empire out to be powerful also makes the NR/Rebels look stronger by proxy, that they survived long enough against a powerful foe for the plot to kick in and do the work for them.
Otherwise, if the Empire is as dumb as you say they are, then the New Republic/Rebels having so much struggles before Pellaeon signing the peace treaty makes the NR look like a bunch of morons for not being able to vanquish the Empire outright. It's the same flaw Filoni does with the Empire; he makes them look like fools, so by proxy, he makes the Rebels look even weaker than the Empire for not being able to wipe out a bunch of plastic-clad buffoons who can't even hit the broad side of a barn.
If the post-Endor Empire is as weak and feeble as you say it is, there shouldn't be a single Imperial left by the time the Vong show up. Especially since the New Republic/Rebel leadership is full of people whose lives were ruined by the Empire, so they have no reason to let the Empire live. The only way the New Republic singing a peace treaty with the Empire makes sense is if the New Republic was also weakened enough to the point where they can't deal the killing blow against the Empire, without killing themselves as well.
Otherwise, it would be like what if we allowed the Third Reich to live intact, with all its race-based ideals and Nazi philosophies still being taught in it, while we possessed the strength necessary to wipe it out for good. Pellaeon's reasoning for signing the treaty is to preserve the ideology of the New Order, and just wait until the New Republic self-destructs so they can seize power later. He did not sign the treaty out of goodwill. He signed it for the same reason the Sith signed the Treaty of Coruscant 3700 years before; so they can set the other side up for a killing blow later on.
If the New Republic possessed the strength to wipe out the Empire, but chose not to, then them signing a peace treaty with the Empire is effectively a sign of their own colossal stupidity, especially since the Empire did not repent of its crimes; they still teach their people that they were in the right and the Rebels were in the wrong, and they carried those beliefs throughout the years. For all those years, the Imperials continued to believe that the galaxy belonged to them, that the New Republic/Galactic Alliance was a state full of traitors, and blowing up Alderaan was the correct thing to do.
That explains why the Empire had no problems betraying the Alliance later on and seizing the galaxy once again during the Legacy Era. And if what you say is true, the New Republic could've prevented all that by wiping out the Empire, which makes them look even more foolish for sparing the Empire and signing a peace treaty with them.
Not quite. The Empire even seized fucking Coruscant from the New Republic, and that was AFTER Thrawn was dead and BEFORE Palpatine returned. Literally, before Palpatine returns in Dark Empire, the Imperial ruling council retook Coruscant from the New Republic, then they have another round of Imperial infighting, before Palpatine re-introduces himself to the galaxy by attacking Mon Cala with World Devastators. The Empire losing morale and general competence from its defeat at Endor is "literally" established EU canon from the very first few Pellaeon-Thrawn scenes of Heir to the Empire. It is expanded upon repeatedly in later EU novels. This is, once again, you autistically believing that Lord Imperator's opinion > canon
We literally start off Dark Empire by having the Rebels survey Coruscant as the Imperials are fighting over it like cats and dogs. And this was after Thrawn and C'baoth died, so you can't say they don't have fighting spirit of their own, if they were able to take Coruscant from the New Republic without Thrawn's tactics or C'baoth's Battle Meditation.
Does that even matter? Disney Star Wars at this point is on life support.Jeff Sneider is say Kathleen Kennedy is leaving in August of 2025, we’ve heard it all before but he seems to be somewhat of a reliable scooper/ journalist?
